Math Whiz

This boy happened upon this math workbook in our drawers today.  He opened it up, and asked me how to do it.  I explained, and he disappeared.  A few minutes later, he came back and told me it was done.  I checked his work — and that boy got every single problem correct!  When I think about him only being in preschool (TK) it is quite amazing what he is able to do!  I’m pretty sure he is just like his mom — and will be the smartest in the family.

Towers

Who built it better?

Navy and Dash???

Or Pippi and Non???
Dash and Navy had the edge on cutting edge.
But Nonnie and Pip had the edge on “roll out of bed and build”.

Words of Scout’s Wisdom

Micah relayed the following story to me this morning:
After several years of Scout trying to shortcut his way out of everything, and many discussions over it, Micah decided to try to encourage him last night to try better, by telling him some of the rewards he could look forward to.  He talked to Scout about the fact that if he really tried hard right now, and made the most out of everything he could right now, he would be happy about it later.  Then he told him that if he would start saving his money now, work really hard in school at this young age, try to create some money-generating things, meanwhile creating good credit for himself…that by the time he was 21, he could buy himself a house.
Scout thought about it for a minute, and then replied, “Dad, you know that most people would say that their house is their biggest asset.  I’m here to tell you that it is actually their biggest liability.”
And then he dropped the mic, and walked off.

Graffiti Artist

Just a few days after marking up my computer screen, the same graffiti artist took a turn on her kitchen.

The good — I’m glad she happened upon a pencil instead of a Sharpie.
The bad — said graffiti artist, marked up the fridge, stove, sink, and wall back splash.
The ugly –  the clean up took over 45 minutes for a little girl.

Fishing Scouts

Just a Den Dad in his element — teaching kids how to do outdoorsy things.

In this case — he taught them rad knots, how to cast, proper bait, and how to catch nothing but a cold.

Bird Poop

We were all sitting outside, when Scout got up to walk away.  When he started walking, we all saw bird poop on his back and were dying laughing!  He asked “What…What?” a million times.  He kept looking behind him, and we kept laughing.  When we finally contained ourselves, we told him.  He just shrugged his shoulders, laughed, and said, “Who cares.”
I’ll say one thing — between every aunt and uncle, every cousin, and especially every parent — my kids are prepared for laughing at themselves in life!

Shikoba

I was listening to Dr. Laura, when she said that all your spouse needs to know is that “they matter to you”.  So I quickly picked up my phone, and texted that sentiment to Micah.  He responded with Shikoba — “I exist for you”.  I’m not well versed in urban slang, but once defined — I added this to my list of words to know.

Escape Room

img_6852-2017-01-27-at-21-37-39.jpg
Our gang went to an escape room tonight, and had the best time ever!  It was all of ours first time, and we dominated — getting the fastest time on record!  We crushed it by about 15 minutes!  They needed a team name, so we named ourselves “The Virgins”.  We had so much fun, that afterwards we went to the Irvine Spectrum to have some ice cream, and then go on some adventure ride.
Honestly….I forget how much fun life is when you are carefree and laughing a ton.
Nights like these are essential, and this might go down as one of the best!
Nice work Virgins!

Height Difference

Navy was thinking that she is almost as tall as Scout.
Scout was disgusted by this possible fact.
I shot the “proof” picture.
Navy says she is.
Scout says she is not.
I guess everything is just how you look at it.

Chinese New Year

It was a happy Chinese New Year for me, when I got to see my kids performing in the most hilarious Chinese shows.
I especially love that they get to dress up, and wear the Chinese garb, because they look so classic!
Good thing Nonnie went to China, and brought back clothes that fit, because their stuff was getting a bit too small last year.

And after the shows, there was a huge Chinese feast.
Navy was loving all of the dumplings, while I was loving that my Dash (not pictured) and Pippi weaseled their way into their own eating spots!
