I’m Exhausted…

It is Thursday….five days after Knott’s Scary Farm….and I have barely recovered!  I guess I am getting old - how SAD!  We had a blast, and everyone started out pretty scared, but by the end of the night (basically when we were leaving) everyone was pretty at ease with all of the monsters.  If you will notice in one of the pictures, Calin and Jake had their entire heads covered, and you can’t see her, but Skylar crouched down to the bottom of the cart we were in, between three Japanese strangers.  They thought our group was hilarious!  Skylar - the most scared of the bunch - finally figured out that yelling “Please don’t get me…I’m scared” was the wrong way to go.  Once she started yelling, “Get my sister, she will freak out” she diverted all attention from her and became brave.  Also note Micah’s exhausted eyes in the picture we have together. (He claims he was trying to be sexy in the picture!) The poor guy is getting old faster than I am.  He was exhausted, and it was only about midnight.  On the way home, Micah made a bed for all of the kids to sleep, but poor Cade got pushed out of it.  Within ten minutes they were all out, followed quickly by me!  Thanks Shmickster for driving us home safely! It was very fun, and I am sure I will be doing this event many more times in my life…so I better get used to it!

Then on to to the rest of the week……..This week, I have been to Los Angeles to get passports and visas.  Fought a traffic ticket in court –which I won!  Been to a computer training class.  Been to the hospital to visit a friend with cancer. Got sick, alongside my baby and husband, etc…..etc…..etc…… Basically it has been a hectic few, and I had Scout (5 and a half months old) with me the whole time.  However, I can honestly say that I am loving my sleep lately.  Well….on to the next adventure!  I am taking Scout with me to Hong Kong in a few days! I better catch up on a WHOLE LOT of sleep over the next few nights!

A nice note on my pillow….

This is what I found as I retired to bed last night.  I guess I should hurry and get the Knott’s Tickets fast….before the whole group turns on me!

Little do they know…..

p1010274.jpg

This is the third or fourth rendition of the kid’s “Emergency Scare Plan”. At first Calin and Skylar were both in the middle, but as the days have gone on, Calin is thinking she is brave. Little does she know…… And if you will notice, I am in the front of the pack leading the way. That spot was originally Micah’s place, until he was seriously telling everyone that he gets totally freaked out at the place. Then he started telling everyone stories from past times of going, where he thought he was going to pass out and even DIE! (what a baby)! Hence, I am in the front. Everyone is pretty happy with the formation except Skylar. She is mad she has to be in the middle because she “is going to be less scared than everyone else. At least [she] will be able to tell that the monsters are fake!” Little does she know……

Knott’s Scary Farm

Last Sunday, I was approached by Calin who really, really wanted something from me. Since we are in the middle of a war, I needed to decide if I wanted to give it to her - and let me tell you - what she wanted was BIG. Basically, she wanted to use me as her escort to Knott’s Scary Farm. On top of that, she wanted me to talk her mom into letting Skylar go, Megan into letting Jake and Cade go, and me talking Micah into going. I was totally into going, but I knew it was going to take some fancy foot work.

One of my biggest challenges was getting everyone to be able to go. Megan was the hardest to budge, and Trilby was surprisingly hard on the whole Skylar going issue. The main reason was because on the website it says…. “Halloween Haunt is not recommended for children under the age of 13″. (Keep in mind that the ages for the four kids are 9, 11, 12, and 14).

I finally hit a huge turning point as I started to pin Trilby against Megan. I asked Trilby to commit Skylar if Megan would let her boys go. Knowing that Megan was a long shot and the toughest sale, Trilby said she would commit. My mom and Trilby both doubted my abilities with Megan, but my ever faithful Micah knew I would make it happen. After massaging the topic with Megan, and conversing with her like it was already a “done deal” we ended up looking at good dates, and the “miracle maker” had a commitment from everyone! After I hung up, we were all high- fiving and celebrating our jaunt to KSF this Saturday! Calin immediately called Jake’s cell phone so they could talk about every detail of the night!

All was good, and the plans had been made. Megan was figuring out when she would come up. Trilby was planning out her date night with Scout. The kids were looking up the website to get excited. And Micah was probably looking up the weather so he could make an appropriate list of what to bring…..(actually, he did look for glow-in-the-dark paint so he could write “scare me” on the back of the kids). All of the kids were calling each other and coming up with plans for the night. It was just up to me to get the tickets!

5 months old!!!!

All I have to say is that Time Flies When You’re Having Fun!

Here he is grabbing for his favorite toy.

Let ‘em cry!

p1010249.JPG

Scout started sleeping through the night at one week. It was inconsistent at first, but at one month he slept through the night regularly. Life was blissful until he turned 4 months, when the little guy hit a growth spurt.  He started chowing down twice as much, which included waking up in the middle of the night for a feast. For the past three weeks, I have happily gotten up and fed him…..but then I caught on. For the first two weeks he frantically guzzled, then it slowly turned into a leisurely sip. Once I realized that his little habit was just that, I decided to take action. Poor Scout was going to have to cry it out a few nights, and re-learn how to give me a great night’s sleep! It really only took three nights of a little fussing, and my little guy is on his way to sleeping like an angel all over again!  And it actually turned out better than I could have hoped.  He used to get up at 6:30 am after sleepng all night, and now it is more like 7:30!

Marc…..the Hero!

I thought I had lost everything in my whole blog.  I was sick about it because I primarily have a blog for journaling reasons.  I couldn’t believe I had lost everything from last December.  What a rip……..until Marc Hemeon entered the picture!  He fixed the problem……Allelujiah!

So long ‘ol Blue Eyes

p1010242.JPG

When Scout was born, he had the greatest blue eyes. I absolutely loved them and hoped they would stay. About a month ago, they started to turn, and have landed on the coolest army green. I have to say I like these even more!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Shmickster!

The BIG 3-1 is finally here. I am glad you could join me! (When Micah and I started dating years ago, I was SO pleased to realize that my birthday was exactly one month ahead of his….which will always make me “one month older and one month wiser”! Enough to have “one up” on him, not enough to care about being “older”.) Can’t wait until you get back so we can CELEBRATE!

XOXO
I love you
