Body Art

I went to change Scout before bed, and this is what I found….

Love you Ka!

Brother and Sis

I have noticed that I have a lack of pictures with both Scout and Navy in them.  In an attempt to get a few more together, I had a three minute photo shoot.  These are the results:

p1030840.jpg

It started out with him crawling on my lap because he wasn’t interested in Icka being the only one next to mom.  Then I decided to get them together for a few real shots.

Scout wasn’t interested, and only wanted to go throw every ball in sight into the pool.

Easier to get individual shots.

Finally got a good shot of both when I put the camera away. (but obviously pulled it out quickly when they were both sitting nicely.)

She loves her brother.  She is always staring at him and his shenanigans.

What A Weekend!

Talk about busy and fun!  A week ago, Ashley and fam came in town.  I never saw Scout when they were here.  Scout’s total buddies Colby and Camden provided hours and hours of entertainment.  On Friday we all went to Legoland.  “All” included Brockbanks, Cliffords, Ash and fam, Nonnie, Denisons…..and Seth and fam.  We had a blast, and I am a fan of this amusement park for youngens.  Scout had a great time, Navy was content, the food was actually pretty good at the park, and I am pleased to announce that I got a free $125 to spend in the park.  To the disgust of my husband and mom, I signed up for a two hour tour of a local resort, and got the gift card!  They laughed, but came back to me with their tails between their legs when they wanted me to buy something!  Yeah right!  Dream on dreamers!

Then on Saturday, we had a birthday party for Stinkpot with about 40 people.  It was a BBQ and swimming extravaganza.  I wanted to make it simple, so I just bought an inner tube for all 17 kids, turned the heat in the pool up, turned the jacuzzi to high, had burgers and dogs, and let everyone chat and/or swim.  Again….a total blast!

(Spanky and Skylar also had birthdays, so we celebrated with cupcakes for all of them.)

(All of the kids were loving the inner tubes.)

(Can’t you tell!  By the way, Trey is in the middle of those tubes!)

(What a shot!  She was completely out after Bree held her for a bit.)
Finally, Navy was blessed on Sunday.  Most of the same people were also there for the blessing, and a lunch afterward.  One bonus was the “aunties” who made it out.  A great day, and so special.  She is almost 4 months, and wasn’t into the lying down part of the blessing, so she cried during the second half.  I thought it was cute.  We had a delicious and light lunch afterward of Marcy’s salad, garlic bread and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

(Some of the attendees.  Talk about a crazy and rowdy bunch.)

(The aunties.  Don’t mind Tristen just being herself.)

(Navy was blessed in my same blessing dress.  I am so glad my mom kept it for all of these years.   I can’t wait for her little girl to wear it.  Isn’t it sweet.)

(One of the few times a year that all of the sisters are together.  We always have the best time together!)

(She is so stinking cute!  I L-O-V-E her!)
Everyone packed up and left Sunday night, and I was utterly exhausted.  I just thought of the mess downstairs and wanted to die!  I finally had Navy fed and down, so I made my way down to surprisingly find…..a sparkling and completely spotless kitchen.  What a guy!  Micah had even cleaned out the fridge of anything that was old.  Including condensing everything down to smaller Tupperware.  I was beyond happy with the surprise.

We got Scout to sleep, and Navy was already in bed, and both plopped down on the couch.  I then made the comment, “Babe….I love and thrive on all the commotion.  But when everyone is gone and everything is calm, that is nice too.”  No sooner than the word “calm” left my mouth, did we have an earthquake!  Micah and I started busting up.  Classic! (Sidenote: that was the first earthquake I was ever scared in because I was so worried that Scout was going to be scared.  Ahhhh….. a mother’s love!)

Got It

I finally caught a decent smile.  I love how she opens her mouth really wide and has a partial dimple on her right side.

They’re Growing

When I take pictures lately, I can’t believe how big my kids are getting!  Scout is a total kid now days, and Navy is not a newborn anymore.  Scout is turning into a handsome little devil, and has the most classic personality.  He is a total tease, which my whole family is convinced comes from me.  He is a charmer, and is always using his new found smile to get his way.  Even Micah has no control when Scout smiles.  He is in constant motion, and L-O-V-E-S to play with all of his cousins.  Old, young, boy or girl…he is sold on cousins!  He is totally using his manners as he constantly says “please”, “thank you” and “excuse me”.  After he hits, he immediately kisses and hugs the victim.  And no…..this doesn’t get him out of his “automatic timeout”.  The latest thing we are trying to work on is his whining.  We have made a bit of progress, but still have some work to do.  All in all, he is my total buddy, and best friend.

p1030788.jpg

Navy is turning into the best little girl.  She is nice and happy.  All morning long she smiles for me, and has been giggling as of lately.  Scout’s “song” that really got him going was “We All Live In The Yellow Submarine”.  I have tried it on Navy, but she passes it up for “Chitty Bang Bang”.  Last time I sang it for her, she giggled the whole time.  She is so darling, and talks and talks.  Most of it is her complaining to Trilby, and we crack up.  She has this little sad face on and talks to Trilby forever.  We can’t understand, but she is definitely trying to get something across to us.  She loves the little fishy mobile I stole from Scout’s bed.  She watches it every time she goes down.  She also loves her little tastes of everything.  She is particularly fond of cotton candy and frozen yogurt.  She is now having one bottle of rice cereal every day.  At about 5:00, I have nothing left to offer until late at night, so I started to have to supplement.  Kind of sad, but she is in heaven!  She is a total pig and has 3+ chins to prove it.  I love her, and can’t wait until I know what she is actually saying!

As Seen On TV

snug.jpg

Tristen spent many hours coming up with this beauty for me for Mother’s Day.  I love the garish colors she chose….and especially the school she picked.  Maybe she can wrap this little gem up again for father’s day and regift it to Micah!  Actually, it serves it purpose and has made me really warm over the past few nights.  The thought was teriffic, and I am glad she was so kind!  I can’t wait to make her one of those really cool pockets you tuck in the front of a couch that will hold your TV Guide, remote control, and whatever else you think of.  You can’t beat “As Seen On TV” junk!  How about the Skull and Crossbones one she made my mom?!

Two Timer

canada.jpg

My dad just informed me that as of April 17, 2009, I am a total two timer.  I am obviously a U.S. citizen, but I am proudly a Canadian citizen too!  Canada passed a new law that anyone born in Canada is a citizen of Canada, and their children are as well.  So call me a Canuck.  Buy me a lot of maple leaf paraphernalia.  Serenade me with “Oh….Canada”.  How sweet….I think I’ll take up curling.

They Celebrated Me!

Being a mom is the best.  Being celebrated as a mom is better than the best.  I loved my day of church, time with Micah’s family, a nice drive to San Diego, time with my mom and all of my sisters (+ one brother), a fantastic meal of filet and potatoes cooked by the men, presents between the sissy’s and mom while the men cleaned up, watching my kids in heaven with their cousins, driving home in silence, coming home to gifts from my husband and kids and nodding off.

Sissy/Mom gifts were awesome.  I got a hair color/cut trip from my mom.  A sweet homemade Snuggie from Tristen.  Candy and stationary from the always talented Megan.  And the best was a homemade card from Trilby and the girls.  It said “to our 2nd mother”….and gave me a pedicure.  How cute that I was considered her 2nd mom!  Love it!

And from my own family……

p1030767.jpg

From Micah….my favorite.  A cooking class with my favorite chef at the Laguna Beach Culinary Institute.

p1030774.jpg

From Navy….a dress I saw in Ireland and loved for her.

p1030773.jpg

And from Scout…..the cutest shoes I also saw in Ireland and loved.  I love that they say “mum”.

p1030778.jpg

A great day….especially because Micah says he still is working on my last present….my letter.  Presents are great.  Letters are better than great!

My gift wasn’t so great for my own mom.  I was under the impression that she wanted a kumquat tree (which she specifically said she did), but when I gave it to her, she laughed and said that I was the one who wanted it.  I told her that I would happily take it back and get her climbing iceberg roses instead.  She told me she didn’t want any climbing icebergs either, but then I told her that….yes….she did.  Off to the nursery today!

In a Word….

Perfect.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Smiley

Navy Baby is SO much more smiley than Scout was it is amazing.  Her ripe times are early in the morning right after I feed her, and whenever Trilby is talking to her.  I am telling you that Trilby just has the touch.  I live for her smiles, and I especially love them because they are usually when it is just her and me.  It is like she saves them up just for her mom.  I have wanted to get them on camera for quite a while, but every time I try, I fail because she is enamored with the camera. And/or I click right when she smiles, but by the time the actual picture is taken -post flash on the second click-, she is somber again.  I finally caught slight glimpses this morning, but I was holding the camera at my hip to hide it from her, and my work is far from good.  Nonetheless, I at least have something.

p1030766.jpg

p1030758.jpg

By the way, she is totally sick with her first nasty cold.  Poor little thing, but she is still smiling.  If it had been Scout, he would have given me a “get out of my face” scowl.
