For family night, I taught my kids how to write a proper thank you letter.
I put the diagram up for them to see, and for us to talk about.
We talked about being specific, about being personal, and about making the receiver feel good about themselves. The kids took to it, and were excited to write a thank you letter when I passed out cards.
Scout chose Thompson — a fried who had gotten him a recent birthday gift.
Navy chose her teacher — who had made her a shell necklace.
Dash chose Elodie — for being a nice friend. (Although his sibling were making girlfriend jokes, so his letter took a little more convincing.)
Pippi chose Bishop Daly — for being so great each Sunday.
Micah chose Navy — for accompanying him to the dance.
I was so impressed by their letters. They were awesome.
After we finished up, and Micah was heading out for soccer, the sister missionaries came over to give us a quick thought on kindness.
They loved the thank you note, and incorporated that into their message. But the best part came after the missionaries left …
Navy wrote the sweetest thank you note to the missionaries for coming over.
I hope this thank you note thing sticks…because to see my kids be kind and grateful makes me about as happy as I can get!
