I feel like every time I open my phone, I have a new grouping of pictures that feature Navy’s tongue tricks.
I’ll give it to her…she has tricks for days!
Dash has a goal of becoming a really good “head stander”.
Hence, this has been my view a whole lot lately.
When I saw Dash cruising with a bra on, I was immediately reminded of Seth as a kid. Then I sent this picture on…and a bunch of my siblings said the same thing! Well Dash…I am glad your future looks brighter than your present.
When I looked over at Scout during church to see him taking notes, I was so impressed. He just wrote and wrote away, and only looked up between talks. Then, after sacrament was done, he looked at me and said, “Mom…those were some really good talks today!”
Buddy boy…they usually are when you are listening!
Scout, you are a really good boy.
Navy’s birthday trip has turned out to be everything Navy wanted it to be.
She got snow and built a snowman.
She got to hang out with Posey and get donuts.
She got to visit with family — including Ka, NayNay, Rose and Papa.
-
Unfortunately, this trip is NOT everything Pippi wanted it to be.
Pippi has been deathly ill (the sickest I have ever seen her because it lasted for four days straight, and isn’t even close to being over). She has absolutely NO energy, has thrown up a bunch, and just sleeps and sleeps while her body is fighting a 103 fever.
Her one dream of babysitting Chappy came true, when Bella provided a sick mask. Too bad Pippi didn’t have the energy to hold him long, but it was probably for the better.

Navy and I are getting on the plane to go home after five really fun days, and Pippi will stay with Nonnie to hopefully get better. I hate leaving a sick girl, but hopefully her cousins will be more fun than shuttling kids all over the town back at home.
Happy Birthday Navy…the trip was well deserved!

(Update: Who knew that leaving sick Pippi behind would cause two straight months of constant clinging to me. She has since told the story of when she was “really sick and looked for mom, but she was never there”. How horrible for her. And who knew. She always tells me that Nonnie is her favorite over me…but I guess what they say is true, about always wanting your mom when you are sick. For a while, I had to tell her exactly where I was going and when I would be back for her to be okay with it…and most of the time, she just would want to come. How sad for the Pips…but that sickness took her down! She was really, really sick for 10 days. And still not herself for another two weeks. The doctor thinks it was just a weird virus, but mono was put in the conversation mix…and I am not so sure it wasn’t that???)
Why did I do it again?!?
For the fourth time in my life — and naturally with my fourth child, we signed up for soccer.
Yes…her bow and outfit are cute.
Yes, she learns teamwork.
Yes, she learns some ball skills.
But when I FaceTimed her from her very first game, and all she could tell me, was “nobody was even yelling for me loud enough!”…I knew it would be a long season. And Trilby was the one yelling for her — and she is the greatest cheerleader of them all!
It was a long season.
She is tied for first place with Scout — for making one goal for the season.
Dash and Navy — nada.
So there’s that.
LAX to SLC
For months, Navy has expressed that she only wants one thing for her birthday. ONE THING! She wants to go to Utah to see Posey. Well, knowing Tristen was having her baby a few weeks before Navy’s birthday, that “one thing” is going to happen for Navy! So she opened a few lame presents…and then opened up a “ticket” to Utah. She was beyond excited…especially when I said we were leaving in the morning. Everything was so great…until Pippi caught wind of what was happening. She was utterly devastated. When Navy saw her sadness, she asked for just one more thing for her birthday. I know my girl…and I know how sweet she is, so reserved a ticket for Pippi in case this happened. When Navy asked if Pippi could go also, I granted her “one more thing”…and now we are all off to see Posey, and new baby Chap!
Just a few hours later…Happy Birthday Navy!
And Happy late Birthday Baby Chap!
Sometimes my kids cooperate. Sometimes they don’t. I told the kids I wanted pictures of them before changing out of their church clothes, and surprisingly they cooperated by walking over to the photo spot. Unsurprisingly..this is the best I got:
Good thing the door was locked, so I could give them the usual lecture, “Someday, you will be so happy I took lots of pictures of you and your life.”
I’m pretty sure they listened this time.
Not many things make it to the display shelf in my closet. But this original poem by Navy, is sitting right in front…just waiting for its frame, to be featured on the coveted shelf.
The kids have been living on their roller blades lately. So today, after picking them up from school, I drove them to the closest (30 minutes away) rink. I surprised them, and had their roller blades in the trunk, so we were all set. To say it was a hit…is a total understatement!
Scout, Navy, Dash AND PIPPI all dominated! They skated and skated and skated!
And Pippi was so good it was amazing! She was schooling everyone her age.
She even showed off her amazing split move, wherever she felt like it. In front of speeding skaters, in the middle of the skate lane — anywhere!
