I am not sure how this exact same story has happened so many times in our family, but we had another case of “I forgot my shoes”!
This time, the only extra pair of shoes in the car were Daddy’s Flip Flops.
So that is what Navy wore….size 12 flip flops on her size 11.5 kid-sized foot.
I texted her teacher and said:
“Hi Mrs. Komine, Navy forgot her shoes, so she is wearing the only spare shoes in the car — her Dads. I know flip flops are illegal at school (as are shoes 8 times too big), so please put her to work. You can have her organize or clean — or even be benched during recess and lunch. I’m just trying to teach her that she needs to be responsible for her own shoes! XO, Lindsey
P.S. If they a problem, let me know, and I will bring over appropriate shoes!”
-
Mrs. Komine (quite possibly one of the strictest teachers at the school) responded:
“Don’t worry about other shoes, it’s no problem. And it’s Friday, so she should have fun…I will let her go play at recess.”
—
Well alright then!
By the end of the day, when I picked her up (it was also pajama day), she had mastered those flip flops!
She was running out like she had a pair of Nike tennis shoes on — completely unphased by it all.
