Navy Performing

Just hit up Navy’s spring performance.
She was darling.
And it is so nice to go to these things and actually see your child sing and perform.
Scout….take note!

Auntie

img_7208-2015-06-16-at-11-21-36.jpg
This is Auntie.
She is Ms. Lee’s aunt who was in the classroom at least 3 times a week.
Her “strict” is off the charts!
Scout spent a whole lot of time with her, and I think she would be a hard sell to kids.
But Scout loves her!
As do I!
She took so much of her time out to mentor Scout.
And the best part — every time I saw her she would say to me, “Scout is very smart.  Many kids try and try, but don’t get it.  Scout gets it the very first time.  Every time.  He has a very smart brain.”  (You need to add a very strict voice to that comment for full effect.)
And Ms. Lee always tells me, “My aunt loves Scout very much.  A lot of the kids get very scared of my aunt, but Scout can take it very well.”
I tell her that’s because I train him well at home.

In an effort to get my other kids to love auntie the way Scout and I do….I am trying to warm them up early.
Dash will be fine — he just charms his way into anyone’s heart, and she was a softie with him.
But check out the Pips in the background.
She had just gotten in trouble from Auntie for playing with a ball in the room.

But we forced her….and Pippi might be under her spell at this point.

Farm w/ Bella

Bella took these kids to the farm.
They told me it was more fun to go with her than me.
FYI kids….her kids will think it is more fun to go with me than her!

Just a regular dip into the costumes this morning.
(Notice those seat cushions that are off in the background?  Pippi takes them off at least three times a day, so she can make her very own trampoline chairs.)

Bella’s Singing

Just wanted to show you what most people think about Bella’s singing.
We all concur with you Pippi.

Bae

Meet Bae.

Dash never seems to mind sleeping next toe Bae.

Unless he knows she is there.
Just a few shots for an upcoming project Doey, Trey, Bella and I have in the works.

Yellow Tree

When we drive up the hill to our house, we have our regular things.
We say “Hi Dolly and Duke” to the dolphins at the bottom.
We check out the bananas growing on the banana tree.
And we always say “Yellow Tree” to the prettiest and brightest tree with yellow flowers all over it.
UNTIL TODAY!
It is no longer.
Navy was especially devastated by this.
So devastated, she made Doey go up with her to the house to ask why they cut it down.

But there is good news!
They just cut it way back to realign the trunk.
And they told us, “It grows like crazy and will come back by next summer”.
Thank goodness.

Denison Fair

Scout woke up this morning, and came up with a great idea.  He and the kids were going to form a homemade fair.  I think I got heart palpitations right away.  I imagined the mess to make it, the clean up mess and especially — the big huge flop it might be.  But as a supportive mom and dad, we agreed.  In fact, Micah talked with the kids, and told them that they needed a goal.  They needed to try to earn money for something, and they could use the proceeds from the fair as part of it.  Everyone agreed upon earning money for the drive-in theaters.  We figured it would cost each kid $12 to go to the drive-ins.  Which included the entrance fee and concessions.
They were pumped.

The set up began.
They took a $5 loan from Micah to make the games look more enticing — like others had already played and gone.
They started advertising with signs, phone calls, and going from house to house.
They had about 5 games, and tried to figure out which ones would produce the most money.

The change drop — where you dropped change into a bucket of water and tried to make it into the little cup was their best producer.
If they landed it, they got a prize (stuff from around the house, and a a box of suckers that Bella donated to the cause).

The fan favorite was the “Bobbing for fruit” (fruit because they swiped all of my nectarines and apples).
Here are some of our neighbors going to town.

Here is the beneficiary of someone’s loot.

By the end of the fair, the kids were really digging in.
And Scout — the little entrepeneur, decided that he would make it tougher.
They still paid to play, but now it was “Bite The Marble”.
(Don’t mind that Navy came up with boogs running down to her chin, and I was going to call the game, but then all of the kids yelled and screamed that they wanted their turn.  It was the grossest cesspool by the end!)
img_7177-2015-06-13-at-16-30-23.jpg
The cash started coming in pretty good.
By the end, Scout was getting creative.  Bella had some groceries that Nonnie needed her to get, and when she drove in, he put them out and said $2 for anything you want.  She thought it was funny enough that she bought $2 worth.
We told the kids after it was over…they could count their money after every single item was spotless.
They did a great job!
So we started counting…
And after the loan was paid back to their dad, they made…..
$44.33!
We were all in disbelief.
We couldn’t believe their success.
They need to thank all of the neighbors and especially Nate Carr, for funding their trip to the drive ins!
After they took out their tithing money off the proceeds, they divied out their money — equal parts to Scout and Navy, and then a chunk to Dash, Seth and Cade for all being helpers.
What Micah and I thought might take many weeks to accomplish, took only one day of hard work.  And Scout and Navy have seen what a little hard work can accomplish.
One of my favorite days in a long time!

Breakfast by Micah

img_7167-2015-06-13-at-09-47-03.jpg
After a run this Saturday morning, I walked into utter chaos.
img_7168-2015-06-13-at-09-47-52.jpg
And then I realized that the chaos was controlled, as Micah made us all a delicious breakfast.

Dogs

img_7174-2015-06-13-at-15-25-18.jpg
Wherever we are, Pippi seems to find the dogs.  Today, we went to Jon’s Fish Market to pick up some fish, and before I knew it, she was running over to this dog, and petting away.  I’ll say that I am very pleased by people’s reactions.  Everyone has well-mannered dogs, and everyone finds it really cute that my little girl likes their dog.  I am pretty sure that she follows in Navy’s footsteps of loving animals.  And definitely not in mine — who loves restaurants without animals.
