DMV Torture

Our DMV used to be a dream.  You could get in and out pretty fast, and it was no big deal.  Well, they totally remodeled it and made it nice….and now it seems like everyone on earth knows about it.  So when I decided to take a quick jaunt over, to renew my license, I thought that bringing my four crazies would be no big deal.
Presenting….
“No Big Deal”.

Disclaimer: The first two shots were not posed (although they smiled when they saw me snapping). The third was — as they were all sitting in their fourth timeout of the 75 minutes we waited.

NayNay’s Home!

Obviously my kids are pretty excited that NayNay is home!

Summer Mornings

My poor kids….

(Dash’s First Homework Ever — coloring in the lines)
Our summer days are filled with math pages, reading comprehension, journal writing, and reading.
But like little studs, they hop up and get right to it.
And when they finish their homework, they have to clean their rooms, and ask me for their “other job”.
And then comes freedom!
Freedom to do whatever we want to do!

Nathan

Nathan was in town, so I invited him and my dad over for dinner.  We had a great time and he seems good.  Afterwards, he played some of the most amazingly beautiful piano I have heard since Ryan was down last.  I was mesmerized.  But interestingly enough, my kids sat by the edge of the piano to see his fingers moving at lightning speed to create amazing sounds.
And after he was done…I sat down and played my old tried and true
“Wedding Day at Troldhaugen: by Edward Grieg.
After my embarrassing rendition, the teacher in Nathan came out, and I got my very own private lesson.

Prayer Girl

img_7304-2015-06-28-at-19-48-36.jpg
The girl who used to scream at the top of her lungs during family prayer has switched up her game.
Once she realized she could fold her arms AND suck her finger — it was a game changer.
Now, for the first 25 seconds, the multitasker is quiet.
But then her juices start flowing….and she goes back to her lovely screams.

Costco Fail

Clearly, this is a sign of an overly tired mom who was trying to skirt the system — and packed Costco boxes on top of unstable kid crap.

It’s not too often you can take a picture in the exact same place that PeeWee took his big adventure!

Lake Havasu ‘15

We went to Havasu with Grandma, Grandpa and the Tapes…and it was a really fun trip.
It was several lazy days filled with water fun, card games, cousins, and hanging on the grass just relaxing.

The most exciting thing that happened this trip, is that Scout became an official skier.
Everytime we got in the boat, he was asking to go skiing.
And the true test of getting outside the wake….he mastered.
(Not totally sure if he ever got back inside the wake though.)

And then with the help of Dad, Dash tried skiing.

And he went all the way around our area in the squat position.
He was so proud of himself!

Here is the gang of river rats that were always up to something.

Like taking mud baths.

Waiting for the door to be opened.
And when the kids were pooped, and stopped entertaining all of us….

Grandpa filled in.

Crashed

img_7292-2015-06-21-at-12-40-32-1.jpg
What a way to start a vacation.
We were the front car in a four car pile up.
Luckily, Micah stopped the train reaction.
And luckily…every person had insurance.
And luckier even more…we drove on to 117 degree heat and the crash didn’t interrupt our vacation one bit.
And the luckiest of all, the kids were all in proper seat belts, and everyone was perfectly fine.

Undresser

img_7291-2015-06-21-at-09-35-01.jpg
This girl has a thing with taking off her diaper.  It has only been twice where it has lead to a messy outcome.  Most times, I catch her in the act — or another kid does, and tells her “No No”!  And I’m not sure if she is parroting or replying with a top-of-her-lungs “NO NO” back!
