Nonnie’s Rolls

I might be the worst baker on the planet.
Which is one of the few things my mom and I don’t have in common.
Look at these beauties — that haven’t even been frosted yet –my mom whipped op for the primary kids this morning.
I’ll take one for now …. and another for my midnight snack!

Palm Springs

I went away with Brit, Emily, Ally and Ashley for Brit’s birthday.
I am famous for hating to leave my kids, but when you get a call, where the birthday girl says, “Well, I only invited four of my closest friends…but I understand if you can’t come”, I guess you figure out a way.
But I’ll admit, it was really fun and relaxing.
The Ritz was beautiful, we found great food, the outlets are always fun and my kids….
they were well taken care of.

This was when Micah took them to the regional park.

And these were some of the many times they headed over to the fair.
So the kids were covered.
Now my only other concern in life — my mom.
Would she be okay without me?

Well, check out that 75+ year old on the swings, high above the ground.
Apparently, Micah rejected the ride that Navy needed an adult supervisor on.
So my mom looked at him and said, “Wussy” and grabbed Navy’s hand to board.

Clearly Patty Poo was doing just fine.

Mississippi’s

Dash used to be a disaster about five minutes after waking up.
He would do the potty dance, and jump like crazy until I put him on the toilet.  And those times I was in the middle of something — like a dirty diaper — he just jumped crazier and crazier while screaming “I have to go potty!”
And then I found the Mississippi’s.
Now, I just see if he can beat his Mississippi time from the day before.
img_6709-2015-05-15-at-07-45-21.jpg
Here he is….all geared up to speed race to the potty, use it, clean up, and run back.
Yesterday, he was around 11.
So today, he was going to beat that.
And with a bit of slower counting….guess what little boy ran in right as I said ttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnn!

Rain Gear

img_6707-2015-05-15-at-07-18-43.jpg
I have been dying to get out Navy’s rain gear all year.
But I bet you wouldn’t believe that southern California is in their biggest drought in years — and we never get rain.
So this morning when it was barely past drizzling, guess what I pulled for Navy?
The cutest rain gear I have ever seen!

Sike!

img_6700-2015-05-14-at-14-02-37.jpg
I am always interested to see what sort of sentences Scout writes each week.
“Give me a piece of meat…SIKE!”
Want to know who got a high five, and a pat on the back….Scout!
SIKE!

Papa’s Porsche

img_6701-2015-05-14-at-15-03-38.jpg
Scout told Pops that he wanted a ride in his sport’s car.
So my dad cleared the way and put him in.
img_6702-2015-05-14-at-15-04-26.jpg
And then a double-buckler came running out.
When they got back, they said it was “sooooo coooool”!
Then Scout told me they went over 100 mph.
To which my dad smiled and nodded no.
(But when I was little, with a ride in my dad’s sports car, I was SURE he went over 500 mph, so I’m not so sure.)

Strong

Just a three-year-old showing off his “four-year-old muscles”!

Annie

img_6694-2015-05-13-at-17-43-14.jpg
Just two ladies off to the opening night of Annie on Broadway (Segerstrom Center).
My mom said it was the best Annie she has ever seen.
Navy said it was her funnest night, and that she loved the play.
(And my mom said she sang along with some of the songs!)

Santa Ana

Every once in a while, I love to go back to my old stomping grounds.
So when I had all of the kids in the car, and we were heading through Santa Ana, I stopped to show them my elementary school.
But before Santiago Elementary, on a whim, I turned left to where my old piano teacher lived.
I was sure she was no longer there — it has been about 25 years.

But guess who was teaching a student as we knocked?!?!
It was short, and Mrs. Bruce looks the exact same, but it was fun to see her.

And then we headed to my K-5th grade playgrounds.
They had changed quite a bit.
img_6691-2015-05-13-at-16-21-47.jpg
But the old part of the school was almost the same.
Here is Pips in front of the 5th grade rooms.
Mr. Geivet taught me in the last door on the left.

I might love memory lane more than the average person…but maybe because my memory lane was filled with pure happiness.

Silly Face

I was trying to find a picture of Dash where he was just smiling.
It seems that every single picture I have of Dash, he is making a silly face.
img_6672-2015-05-12-at-16-58-49.jpg
Since I couldn’t find any — I had to take this…which turned out pretty cute.
But quickly after, I decided to make a sweet video montage of all of his silly pictures that turned out so cute.
And now, every time I pick up my camera…he is aiming for another pic to be on that video…because his faces are getting sillier and sillier.
