Missy had us down for a cool afternoon at Abalone.
It was my kind of beach weather.
Sweatshirts and no major sun.
We invited Diane, Bree and Alexa to come along, and they met up with us about an hour into it.
Missy and Paul obviously provided tasty food, and were as gracious as ever.
And to top it all off, she captured the day with her awesome camera.
Here are some of the shots:
Ending on the stinkiest of the stinkies…when Dash covered Alexa’s head in sand.
-
Thanks again Mis.
I thought Dash would be glued to this window the entire time we were at the car wash. Unfortunately for me, he found the soccer balls and sunglasses on display. When I chose which kid to bring, I kind of chose wrong. I thought it was going to be a relaxing thirty minutes. But it ended up being more of a game of chase.
-
Scout, I should have picked you all along!
Navy, you would have blown Dash out of the water.
Pippi, you might have slept the entire time.
-
What was I thinking?!
Scout and Navy are the Tweedles….Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
Dash and the Pips are my Frick and Frack.
-
This day, Frick and Frack were on my mall excursion of returns and a quick bite to eat.
They are really darling with each other.
One protects the other while she googley-eye smiles at him.
And then he entertains her.
All while she stays strapped in and approves of his silly ways.
-
I love me some mall time with F&F.
A lot of times when we pull into the driveway, Dash runs to get his scooter and tells me to sit so he can show me his “moves”.
I’ll admit that his “moves” are pretty respectable for a two year old.
He is fast, can turn nicely, does great bunny hops, crouches down.
But this day, his “moves” were scootering full blast into a cardboard box.
Nice moves my boy!
(Spectating during the events they weren’t in.)
We headed down to the Ward Olympics on Memorial Day.
Each of the kids competed in the 100 Meters, and then there were some relays and 400 meter races that Micah and Scout did.
It was a pretty fun morning for all, but Scout died over it!
He absolutely loved it.
Here he is finishing off the 400.
Micah jogged the 100 in his flips.
And during it all, pseudo Grandpa John hung out with the Pips while I photographed the whole thing.
Tether ball has been all the rage at our house lately!
Scout enticed Ezra and Brock to a friendly game of three.
Or maybe not so friendly!
Looks like Batman has a wedgie!
But in his defense….those are the cutest wedgied buns I’ve ever seen.
I have always said the Navy is tough as nails. But even I was impressed by this! I decided this morning that I was going to walk to swimming lessons.
My three youngest were at home, and the double stroller was full, so it looked like Navy was going to be scootering!
We headed out, and I quickly realized that we live amongst bigger hills than I ever realized.
Poor me.
Poor Navy!
But you wouldn’t have believed it!
That girl scootered and scootered and scootered!
She was amazing!
It was four miles there.
Then she swam for an hour.
And another four miles scootering back home.
Eight miles!
Again — she was amazing!
So I rewarded her with a Yogurtland (she got to make it extra big) on our way home.
At the final stretch, she found some honeysuckles.
And then she treated herself to a few of those.
-
After eight miles, and two blistered feet for me, Navy didn’t even flinch.
She just wanted to know if after picking up Scout, they could play for a while before homework.
To which I agreed.
Happily.
Scout is quite the shmooz.
Or maybe he is more of a con artist…..you choose.
-
For a few weeks, I have been picking up Scout at school, and he has had one of the after school snacks that they sell.
Four dollar Jamba Juices or Hawaiian Shaved Ice.
At first I innocently thought that he must have conned Micah out of four bucks each morning.
But I finally asked him where he was getting all of the money for the treats.
To which he replied…completely nonchalantly…
“Oh….Mary buys them for me every time. She told me that if I play with her at recess, then she would buy me whatever I want after school. So I just play with her, and she buys me everything.”
And then he informed me, “But now I have played with her long enough, she said that I earned her buying me stuff for the rest of the year.”
Amazed at this deal he is involved in, I asked, “Do you still play with her?”
And he said, “NO! That’s the best part! I don’t even have to play with her anymore!”
-
Poor in-love Mary.
Poor Mary’s parents who must be out $40 by now.
Poor me, the next time I see Mary’s parents.
-
Shmooz or Con?
Or jerk.
I’ll admit that I got into a major rut during the wedding planning. I was always going 90 miles an hour, and yogurtland was a very quick and very delicious meal replacement. Dash, my partner in crime, also became a lover of the quick and delicious. This day, on our way home from swimming lessons, Dash asked for a Yogurtland stop off. And it was about lunch time, so Yogurtland it was!
(Disclaimer: it was a meal replacement for me, but was an appetizer for my boy.)
