I am convinced that the very best song title to describe Dash is “Joy To The World”!

This baby makes me beyond happy.  He just hangs out with me as my sidekick day after day, and just oozes happiness.  When I look at him in my rear-view mirror, he grins from ear to ear.  When I kiss him, he grins ear to ear — or gives me a cheek, and then turns back grinning ear to ear from his little joke.  When I put him to bed at night, I go through our ritual, and he grins ear to ear.  He is literally a JOY.

Lately, he has added a few new things to his repertoire.

-Speaking of putting him to bed at night, I have Scout’s bear that has a little voice-recorded message from me in it.  So when he goes to bed, I push the little button, and Dash looks at it, and then looks at me, and then gives Yosemite the Bear kisses.  And then I press it again, and Yosemite leans over to kiss Dash, and so on.  It’s one of my favorite tasks of the day.

-Sometimes I hear teeny grunts, and realize that he is just blowing kisses.  He uses both hands and then does some sort of “MWAH” sound as he throws his arms out.

-Auggie taught him what a doggy says.  SO when he sees a dog, a lot of times he will say “Ru Ru”. (No F)

-When Dashy eats, he is frantic about it.  He means business.  Whatever is in front of him, is grabbed by the handful, and stuffed into his chomper.  And then, he sticks it into a cheek until I give into his grunting and give him a bit more.  Eating time become quite the divvied-out process.

-Our little chipmunk is teething — (molars in the back on the bottom).  So to avoid eating on sore gums, he gets his food in his mouth, and saves it there until it basically disintegrates. I am talking 2-3 hours if i let it go that long.  His lips used to turn blue, but he has mastered the art, and loosely purses his lips now.  It is seriously the funniest thing ever.  And although he has done this for months, I think it has just become a habit now.  I like to think of it, as my little guy really savoring every last bite!

-Since taking his first steps and actually walking within the month, this boy has become a pro.  He walks confidently and quickly.  He is a master, and is all over the house.  At times when I need to get something done, I will have to hide from him.  But it only takes seconds until he finds me and wants me to love on him.

-Not only is he walking, he is climbing.  Every single day the art table is out, Dash climbs up on it, stands on it and then climbs down.  I used to rush over to get him down, but then he fell once, and is a bit more careful.  And I literally can’t run over 400 times a day.  We were at IKEA, and there is a display out for the children.  It has become a makeshift playground, and as we passed it, Dash was pointing and saying “Ma Ma”.  I let him out, and two moms asked me how old he was and if he had been walking long, because he was climbing up the front of a a decently big slide, and then turning around and sliding down.  Not only had he mastered it perfectly, but he had managed to get every other kid in a tizzy because he commandeered the most coveted toy in the place.  I kept moving him away, but those quick little feet got him back in no time.  So then we strolled away.

-My most favorite thing of all, that he does multiple times a day…..whenever he hears music, he conducts music.  He learned it at church, and at Cade’s Band competition, and it is hilarious.  So the second he hears me sing, or the music over the loud speaker in a store, his little arm starts waving and he grins from ear to ear.

-

Everything he does charms everyone.  He is as sweet and nice and happy as a little baby could be.  He makes me almost squeal with delight when I am with him.

You want to know why?

Because this little boy of mine is a “Joy To The World”!
