I am determined to make this summer count.  Scout is off to kindergarten next year, and life as we have known it will never be the same.  How sad is that.  But in the meantime, we are partying it up!  So our day went a little like this:
-We start all of our summer days out with some jobs.  Usually make their beds, clean various rooms, tidy up the backyard, etc.
-Then we do “preschool”.  You know a little learning action.
-Then we spiritually edify ourselves with a little scripture reading.  My little Icka is really grasping them finally.
-Then, this morning, we headed to the Kaleidoscope for a magic show.  It was thoroughly entertaining.  “Dave the Magician” was very funny and very skilled.  Scout and Navy were glued to his show for the whole hour!

-The we met up with Skills who pays my bills.

And we told her about the exciting thing we pulled from our jar the day before.  (You know, the day we were supposed to go bombed because we went to Ka’s house on a special mission instead.)

So we got the kids ready, and before heading out, we attempted to get a family pic.  But they were way too into each other to look my way.

Scout and Navy have become lovers of the beach!  And this one without a wave in sight was pretty great. (But not as great as Abalone!)

Dash is a beach fan also!  This is just the beginning of his sand stache.  By the end (after I had put the camera away), he had a full goatee.  And that is only what landed on his face.  You should have seen what he got into his mouth!  I think he might have eaten a cup or two of sand.  And he loved every bite.

I attempted another family shot, but Dash wanted to crawl and eat some more sand, while Icka sneezed away.

The candid shots were working better, as they all played away in the sand.
(It literally amazes me how intriguing the sand is to children for hours on end.)

After the beach, and some swimming afterwards, Micah heard it was a good fishing day and came to pick us up for the San Clemente Pier.

My kids are always excited for the pier — especially since they brought their bike and scooter along.

But after a while, without catching a thing, they turned to their peanuts.  Thank goodness my kids don’t have allergies to these things, because they LOVE them a good bag full of peanuts.

Then Icka kept going over to the sweet guy across the way who kept reeling them in.  I told him that he was Icka’s hero.  And he must have felt that way because she spent most of her time over at their camp.

But when she heard a few squeals from Dashy, she came back.  But yet again, didn’t cooperate for a family photo.

So I focused on this handsome devil instead.

When we finally made it home, my kids were wiped!  A morning full of stuff, a magic show, a day at the beach, an hour in the pool, an evening at the pier was just right.  My kids hit the sack like a ton of bricks.  And about an hour later — so did I.
