Between me — whom my classmates called “Butt White” in junior high, and Micah….we have the spectrum of white to olive skin covered. So when we were going to have kids, it was anyone’s guess to see what the combo would produce. From the get go, I wanted my kids to have “my personality and Micah’s skin”. Not necessarily because I love his skin type so much more — but mostly because I absolute hated sunblock -my own personal prison- growing up.
So the results are in….
Scout gets a beautiful warm tan in the summer. But has the most darling freckles across his nose. I die over his skin and his army green eyes.
Icka has beautiful skin that gets a little darker tan than Scout. She doesn’t have my freckles, but has a couple of to-die-for beauty marks on her face. my favorite is the one on the lower rim of her left eye. I call her my chocolate chip cookie with her little random beauties and chocolate brown eyes.
The jury is still out, but my guess is that Dash will be more along the likes of Navy. His eyes are more like hers. Either way, I will love it. And as far as his eyes go — I originally thought they were slate grey, but they are turning. I haven’t officially named them yet, because I am not sure where they will settle.

So in the end, my kids did get olive skin! Hooray for them that they don’t have to live in the sun block prison. But I guess I need to retract that statement, because I have never met anyone who is more adamant on putting sunblock on everywhere, every day than Micah is. So I guess it is straight back to sun block prison we all go!
