Scout has been in a stage lately.
I can usually pull him through it quicker if we take a special date.
Just him and me and something fun.
And on top of me wanting to expedite this stage, the other day in the car he asked me, “Mom…when do we get to go on a special date next?”
It had been a few months, so we made plans for Saturday.
But come Saturday, he sweetly invited Icka and Daddy along and renamed it a “Family Special Date”.
So off to Boomers for a little mini golf we went.
This is how my kids wait in all lines.
Like little monkeys.
He was liking mini golf for about the first five holes.
We had her attention for about two holes.
And then I looked over to see Icka making plans.
Scout saw her, and obviously liked the plans.
Good thing I had this one all buckled up.
Because at every hole, no matter the whimsical adornment, it was magnetic to my kids.
And they had a blast while Micah ate my dust on the course.
They finally took a seat when they saw their next adventure.
Scout went first and made it up about a third of the way.
Whoa — waste of money.
Here was Icka to redeem our lost investment.
She started strong.
And about four feet up, let go and came down.
Like throwing it in the trash.

But the Family Special Date was effective.
I know that because both kids wanted to go on another that night!
