Beds

img_4871.jpg
Scout’s cast took us out of the habit of making beds each morning.  But the time has come again when I ask them to make their beds.  I have to admit that they have a long way to go to hit perfection, but I kind of love seeing this sloppy mess.  I also love how they regularly come out of their room and coyly say, “Mom….we are so sorry we didn’t make our beds.”  When I pretend anger, and get up in a huff to go and look — and then have a massive party when I find out they did — they find it hilarious that they tricked me yet again.

Balding

img_4967.jpg
Do you remember the snake dance move from the 80’s?  Every time Dash is well fed and on his back on the ground, he pulls out this move and it is hilarious.  At first, Ka thought it was a seizure, but I just reassured her that he was bustin’ a move!  It is darling and makes us all crack up.  Too bad that the byproduct is a bald head in the back.

Sissies!

Ashly Lark has always called their Scarlett “Sissy”.  So when our “Sissy” (AKA Navy) met their “Sissy”, Bella set up a Sissy play date.  Bella did the honors of taking my sissy over to get the other sissy.
First stop:  The mall!
photo-3.jpg
They hit up Ruby’s for milkshakes.
photo-27.jpg
The indoor playground was a hit.
photo-5.jpg
What is the mall without a stop at the Disney store for these two little princesses.
photo-4.jpg
Then it was back to home for a little swim time and riding bikes.
photo-2.jpg
Scout is always up for swim time, and Bella even got in!
-
These two were so similar and got along really well.
photo-1.jpg
I loved everything they were in sync on
MINUS
their common inability to keep the toy room clean!

Naughty Naughty

I guess Icka was feeling a little creative as she went to bed tonight.
photo-2-2.jpg
It all started with what appeared to be fake lipstick.
Apparently I (the mom) didn’t put her to bed, because I knew that there was a pen lurking under the cap.
photo-4-2.jpg
And so did our little Picasso.
This is after she was awakened by Bella saying, “Ooohh…you are going to be in trouble!”
photo-3-2.jpg
Even from a dead sleep, she knew she was going to be in massive trouble!  Notice the tears — they are actually real!  This time, the cry wasn’t just an act.  Stinks for her!
-
And just when I thought she was all the way naughty, she topped herself!
When she told us the story, she told us that Scout was a part of it and drew some of it.
Too bad for her, that Scout always tells the truth, and when he said he was sleeping the whole time, I totally knew he was telling the truth.
So on top of getting in trouble for drawing all over her pillowcase and sheets, this girl got it for lying also!
It was a rough morning for this girl.
Kind of reminds me of the time I lied about drinking the egg nog to my mom.
Apparently when I told her it was a banana, she clearly knew it was the nog down my Sunday dress.
But bad days make for good lessons.
Let’s just HOPE this girl learned her lesson.
(By the way — I was rather impressed with her attention to detail in the drawings.  Pretty good for a three year old!)

Back To Reality

Spring Break is over, and we are back on our schedule.  So after breakfast and bike riding, I had the kids in for crafts.
p1120886.jpg
It started with making frozen yogurt dots.
p1120892.jpg
I filled a pan, and the kids each did a plate and then we stuck them in the freezer.
They were a major hit.
I thought they would last a few days, but Scout passed a few out and then downed the rest by himself.
p1120899.jpg
Then we opened up our moon dough.  The kids liked it a ton, and spent an hour or two playing with it while I cooked dinner.  Here is Icka’s snowman.
p1120896.jpg
And Scout put together this birthday cake — candle and all.

Clifford Touch

If I am being honest, B has dropped the ball on my third baby with the “Clifford Touch”.  Good thing Skilly is still around.  She has about 99% of what B has, and that is well above what I have.
img_4857.jpg
Today, Dash got an extra special treat.
A bath that was his perfect size before the treatment.
img_4856.jpg
How stinking darling is this kid!
He could have sat in that bath for hours.
Just like the two before him, he loves the water.
img_4849.jpg
And then after a full rub down, Q-tipped ears, cologne (Johnson’s Baby Lotion), fingernails clipped, hair mohawked, etc., Skilly got him dressed and added a sweatshirt because his mom “doesn’t know the meaning of keeping [him] warm.”
-
Yes I do.
It is called, let others think you are cold and then they perform their special treatment on you as I get ready myself.
Ding Ding Ding!

Her Own Style

When Icka gets dressed on her own, it always in questionable taste.
img_4853.jpg
Sunday shoes, leggings and a silk nightgown that she “had to where because it is SO warmy”.
img_4852.jpg
Or her usual go-to is one of her six princess dresses with a few accessories.
This day it was a magician’s hat that added that extra bit of flair to her outfit.
-
Good thing I have a few years of training left.

First Time Swinger

p1120903.jpg
A lot of times while the kids are swimming, and I don’t want to go in, Dash and I hang out together.  And as of lately, I have been putting him in the swing next to the pool, and he is loving it.  It is kind of fun to revisit these same stages now for the third time.  And amazingly enough, it never gets old to see a baby grin from ear to ear because he is on a swing for the first time in his life.
-
What I really love is how this swing has a safety bar and won’t allow my baby to hurt himself — and end up in a body cast for 10 weeks!

RoRo’s Superhero Party

I am a sucker for dressing my kids up, so I was really excited when we got RoRo’s invite to his Superhero party.
p1120871.jpg
Megan gave me the perfect onesie for Dash’s shower that had the body of a superhero on it.  And when he wears it, he becomes the head of the Superhero.  As soon as we got the invite, I couldn’t even believe my luck that I already had that, and it was his perfect size.  And then when we got there and got a cape — I mean, could you die!
p1120840.jpg
Britni created a VERY “pinteresting” party.  It was absolutely darling.  And Micah especially loved the part where it said “Every Superhero Needs Crack”!
p1120837.jpg
She nailed the cake, and set up the cutest food table.  Not to mention the most amazing J Dawgs that were served.  Have I ever talked about how delicious J Dawgs are?  They are unreal, and J has the perfect scoring technique that allows for the right amount of sauce to ooze in.
p1120839.jpg
I got these tubes online and had to put them to good use.  So I brought party take-away treats for all of the kids.
Pretty cute if I don’t say myself.
p1120868.jpg
Scout was awesome.
He cruised the whole party as Spiderman.
He never broke character — even when he ate.
p1120872.jpg
But I finally talked him into taking his mask off to eat normally.
He was okay with it because he had another mask underneath.
p1120841.jpg
Navy chose to go as the princess that the Superhero’s saved.
Of course she did!
p1120860.jpg
And you know I wouldn’t miss out on a Sharpie moment!
p1120849.jpg
Here is the little terror Grey chasing down the princess in their beach back yard.
p1120876.jpg
Here is the mad of the hour before blowing out his four candles.
p1120877.jpg
The littlest Superhero was getting a little pooped, so we put him down for a nap.
p1120886.jpg
He was great after he woke up.
That is until Cole Wong head butted him!
-
We stayed and had a blast for almost five hours.  It was fun to see people I hadn’t seen in a long time (G-Funk and Jeffe).  It was also fun because it was just relaxing.  It was a great party at a nice and smooth pace.  And at the end, while all of the adults where in chit chatting, the men and boys went out to fly kites.
p1120883.jpg
I was rather impressed when Spiderman got his going all himself.
-
Happy Birthday RoRo!
Thanks for inviting us to your party!
But next time, we might not show up in Sharpie, because when Scout sang in church the next day, he had light pink around his eyes.
(By the way — did you know that black Sharpie is much easier to take off than purple or red?)
Good to know.

Jake’s Beach Day

Jake came home for spring break, and on his 7 day bucket list, he wanted to hit up the beach.  Just as we were on our way to meet up with them in San Diego, Missy sent me a text that she was at Abalone.  Thank goodness!  A beach with shade is about the best kind of beach a girl could ask for.
img4888-xl.jpg
So we headed down, and Abalone didn’t disappoint.
Jake has always been so cute with Dash (and my other kids).
img4897-xl.jpg
Navy got into the forbidden baby powder for the third time.  Each time, she ends up looking like a geisha, and Megan made her do geisha hands in honor of her white face.  Poor Missy.  I think Icka secretly likes the baby powder fiasco part of the day almost the very best.  Poorer Missy.  Navy brings Sydney right along in the mischief.
img4910-xl.jpg
I was obsessed with Dash this day.  I can’t get over how big he is getting, and how handsome he is.  I am totally an obnoxious mom who thinks their kid is the greatest, but when you have a baby this good — you would too.
img4919-xl.jpg
I mean, look at the kid — he was freely giving out the sweetest kisses.
img4924-xl.jpg
And cracking up at Jake.
img4935-xl.jpg
And reaching for Jake’s nose.
img4936-xl.jpg
And flying with Jake.
img4938-xl.jpg
And sucking his thumb while he smiled.
-
See what I mean!
Obsessed also?
-img4944-xl.jpg
It was a great day.
Especially because the four cousins finally got to be back together again!
