So Scout and Navy never have play-dates.  Mostly because I always like them to be with me and each other.  Well, Scout’s new buddies who happen to be around-the-corner neighbors make him so happy that I decided to have them along for a day of fun.
Scout knew about the day, and when he came into me in the morning, he snuggled up and said, “Mom, did you remember that today is the day we are going to play with Seth and Cade?”  I told him that I did remember, to which he replied, “Mom, this is the best day EVER!”
So in an attempt to really make it the best day ever, I tried to think of all the things Scout (3 years old) loves, that would hopefully translate to his twin buddies (5 years old).

First stop — Denny’s!  I knew Scout would be in heaven, but these two loved it easily as much!

Then their mom came up with the great idea of heading over the bridge.  I set up some running races, and they were loving them.

Then off to the harbor to play hide and seek.  Scout was so proud of his spot.  Little does he know that he was sticking out like a sore thumb.

When Micah was “it”, the boys all hid together like sardines, and all ran together to safe.  It was pretty cute, but the pour boys kept getting outed by Icka.

We then went to throw rocks.  When I told the twinners  we were going to, they were so excited.  It always amazes me that boys can throw rocks for hour and never tire of it.

We then headed down the dike to head over to a park.  On the way, Cade got into climbing frenzy, and set the bar high for the others.

Luckily he was happy to help out when he saw someone (a little sis who wanted to be just like the big boys) needed a hand.

Down the way, a police deputy stopped them and talked to them for a bit.  He gave them all stickers, and told them how important it is to be safe.  They loved it.
Unfortunately, I put my camera away for the rest of the day, but it wasn’t because it lacked action.  These three proceeded to head back to their house to get swim suits and play the Wii with Scout for an hour.  We then headed back to our house for more Wii and swimming for 2 1/2 hours.  After swimming, they took a bubble bath (with suits on) that rivaled swimming in fun.  Then it was off to pick up bikes at their house.  We came back to our cul-de-sac for a few hours and set up some good obstacle courses.  Then our neighbors came out to join in on some hide-and-seek fun.  Then the whole gang came in to play a few games.  And finally I walked the twinners back home.  When we got there, all three of the boys begged to let Scout stay and play!  I obliged, and almost 8 hours later, he was returned home.  Talk about a marathon of a day.  But I couldn’t have been happier with the twinners who are SO nice, and great examples to my boy.  According to Scout, we have another day like this coming up real soon, because according to him, “It was the best day ever!”
