On our way home from Utah, we drove in exactly when Skilly was going to get off the bus from her first day of school. Lucky her….too bad that Scout was down to a white trash diaper. I love how he waited patiently for Ka to get there. Afterwards, we went to get an ice cream cone….because it is tradition. (Thank goodness Trilby called to inform me that Skilly was really excited bout our “tradition” I didn’t ever know about.) The ice cream was delicious. By the way, is anyone else excited that Daiquiri Ice is back? My very favorite — if you don’t count Peanut Butter and Chocolate.

Look at her facial expression. I knew exactly what it meant…..”why in the world is Scout in a diaper embarrassing me in front of the entire bus?” Oh yeah…there is also a little of “and why are his fingernails filthy?” And, “Could you have at least put a little gel in his hair?”
Stinks for you Skylar. When you signed up for aunts, you got the funnest one with the least amount of pride!
Scout, Navy and I drove up to Midway to meet up with Tristen, Brit and Sug for a really fun week. We had the best time doing everything. The definite highlights were the nightly homemade ice cream, the scooter brigade, Swiss Days Navajo Tacos, homemade grape juice, the open market and to-die-for meals courtesy of Sug, and the following:
Hanging out in the nice weather with Royal!
Going to the apple orchard on the ranger and eating away. Scout was so excited that we saw a deer picking an apple from a tree. Too fun!
Catching salamanders and feeding them to a neighbor’s ducks. Poor little Navy when Belly is around!
And last, but not least…Scout was in heaven on the scooter. He especially liked the blue one, and was constantly on the go with Belly.
In Relief Society, we had a lesson on the difference between fleeting happiness and eternal true joy. I had a true joy moment when I was four hours into our drive home from Utah, and I looked back at Scout and Navy. He was passing cheerios over for her to eat, sharing his coveted blankie with her, and making her giggle. They were both cracking up for about ten minutes straight. When I asked Scout if Navy was his best friend, he said, “Yeah….and Mommy.” Perfect.

Sweets, has been firsting it up lately. She is now constantly mumbling Mamamamama as she cruises around. After she got “Dada” down, she realized where her bread is buttered, and quickly moved on to “Mama”. Smart girl!

In other news….she had her first bike ride with Skilly. She kissed her first boyfriend, Royal. She got her first bruise on her forehead from falling into the corner of a chair. She first stood up and held onto the side of something at about 6 1/2 months, and will stand and fall for hours at a time now. She had her first babysitter (Scout too for that matter), and Rachel and Olivia said she was “perfect”. (Scout was “good”.) And last but not least…..she went on her first carousel ride.

I love how she is doing something new every day. She is the best little girl that I could have ever hoped for!
