I know it won’t last long, so I am abusing Scout’s new penny obsession to the max.  He is really into putting pennies in his piggy bank, so I can get him to do about anything for the mere price of a penny.  This morning, he kept begging for a penny, and I explained that he needed to earn his pennies.  So when he did something nice, or did a job like cleaning up his toys, then he would get his penny.  Before I could even finish my explanation, he ran off, yelled “K” (o.k.) to me, and started saying “clean up” over and over.  I went into the toy room a minute later to see him trying to clean up everything in sight.  It was very impressive, and he definitely got his penny.  I was afraid his obsession had gone too far when we were at the doctor’s office in the waiting room last week.  Scout went around to the other 6 or 7 people in the same waiting room, and put his hand out and said, “money”.  When I told him he should not ask that, he included the word “please”.  Thanks to his charm and a few elderly ladies, he ended up a few cents richer.
