Showering Brattney!

p1010945.jpg

I helped throw a baby shower for my BFU - Britni Seastrand.  She is due in less than a month, and is large and IN CHARGE!  The shower turned out perfectly, with a great brunch, a hilarious game, and a perfect amount of people.  We honestly had the best time and can’t wait for Royal to come…hopefully four days late - on Scout’s birthday!

Baking for Britni

p1010943.jpg
I am a serious fan of cooking, but baking…not so much! It is too precise and usually needs to be perfect for everything to turn out correctly. But I found the recipe for Sprinkles’ cupcakes online, so I went to work for Britni’s shower this Saturday. I made lemon with lemon frosting - mostly because I wanted the frosting to be white for my decorations. I sugared them all with coarse white sugar, and then added a red sugared heart in the middle of each of them. I wrapped each in its own box, and tied a “royal” blue ribbon around each one. They are going to be the treats each person takes home. Can’t wait!

Poor Shmicky!

Micah had his first soccer game in his new league.  i was bummed to have to miss it, but I figured I would have many other opportunities.  Joke’s on me.  He possibly tore his ACL in the beginning of the second half.  He says that for the first time in his entire sporting career, he had to be carried off the field.  What a bummer.  We’ll see what the doctor say?

**Update** the doctor said he really hurt it badly, and either hyper extended it, or tore his ACL directly from the bone.  But because Micah is a cyclist, and his muscles are built up around the area, the doctor thinks he will be alright.

In honor of Easter…..

we took Scout to see the bunnies down at the Jones Family Farm in San Juan.  He loved all of the animals, but loved being “one with the animals” the very best.  He sat and fed the bunnies and guinea pigs a basket of lettuce for about 30 minutes…..

…..and then treated himself to a few nibbles.

Makeshift sleeping arrangements

p1010850.jpg

Ever since we moved, the little guy has had to make do with all sorts of sleeping arrangements.  Luckily we finally found the port-a-crib, but until then he was on a king sized mattress on the ground.  This was pretty good until he started crawling like a mad man, and would just crawl around for hours until he decided to go to sleep.  Then once he would fall asleep, he would shift his way to the hard wall.  thank goodness he is easy going, because this move + a naughty baby would make me go crazy!

John Z…whose lunch did you eat?

fight.jpg

All I know was that it was orange, and it was the best tasting lunch you have had for a very long time!  The Z boys had Micah along to play soccer last night, so I headed up to support since it was just around the corner….OR 45 minutes away, and started after 10 pm.  Their losing streak had dominated the last few games, so these guys were really fired up for a “W”.

The game headed off to a bad start.  (Don’t quote me on these exact statistics….I don’t know how I forgot since I heard the play by play about four times on the ride home…but I will try.)  By half time the score was Orange 5…White 1 (us).  Pretty brutal until ……

In the second half, the fancy footwork and hussle was on!  One after another, white was scoring goals.  Orange was getting frustrated, especially because they are contenders for first place, and the white team should be a walk in the park…or so they thought!  The fouls were being thrown all over the place…in fact, the kindest player on the field….. Jim Z was even getting a few in.  Orange’s #9 was the main offender on their team, I personally heard from Rob -the biggest guy on the team white- say , “Do it one more time, and I will punch you in the head!”  Bring it on!!!

With 8 minutes left in the game, the score is tied 5 - 5.  Orange hasn’t scored since the half, and they are mad.  So what does #9 do?  He “does it again” in the form of a back-handed punch to Chris, the littlest guy on the team.  Too bad that Chris just happens to be brothers with the biggest guy, and before you could say “police brutality” (name the movie), Rob was running from off the bench, to “punch him in the head” I guess.  Micah said he was going to try and stop him until he looked in his eyes, “and there was no stopping him”…he looked posessed!

There was a big pile up, and the only person trying to stop the madness was the poor 100 lb lady who works there.  After about 2 minutes the lady was pulling people off the pile one by one.  They finally got down to the two involved, and #9 was in the fetal position.  After it was broken up, and even after Rob charged another guy, I looked over to see the best scene of all. It was straight out of UFC! Rico on our team had their biggest guy…and when I say biggest, I am talking pushing 400 lbs big in some sort of Jiu Jitsu hold.  He had his entire body wrapped around the big guy, and was holding him there so he couldn’t do any damage.  The classic part is that Rico couldn’t even get his arms and legs completely around him, but the big guy was just there taking orders.

After the ref called the game, you hear John Z. totally pumped up and yelling, “come on guys…let’s play ball.  We’ve got six minutes…let’s end this thing!”  He was so stoked on it, but everyone else was looking at him like he was crazy.  He could just taste the “W” and wasn’t going to let up.

We all headed out to our cars, and had our pow wows about what details everyone saw, and then Micah and I headed home with the Z’s.  When we were heading out, the lady came up to us and told us that #9 wanted to press charges.  One of the Z’s said, “what’s he going to tell the cops?  I hit someone, and they hit me back?”  She then told us that Rob was red carded for at least three games, and had to pay a fine.  She mentioned the fine a few times, which got everyone a little bummed out for Rob.  Then when she mentioned that the fine was $25, MZ wanted to pull out a $50 and tell her the extra was for next time it happens.  Then she informed us that both teams are taking a loss for the game.  To which John resonded with something along the lines of, “We were going to win that game……We ate their lunch…..did you see our hustle….we looked good, etc. etc. etc.”

For the complete 45 minute ride home, John was talking about every single detail over and over, and about what we had for lunch. Poor Jim was telling us we would hear about the fight the entire ride home, but to his unfortunate circumstances, he had to go to work with him for the next few days….and would hear about it all over again there!

All I have to say is….Jim, listen with pride!  You ate their lunch….and not many people eat Orange’s lunch!

***Don’t Call Me!***

Last night (around 11:00 pm, so sorry Hemeons if you were on the list), Tristen got my phone and mass texted a bunch of my friends to ”Call Me”.  Not that I don’t like every one of you, but no need to call…just an obnoxious sister.  Too bad the girl is funny, BUT not original.  She plagiarized my trick from a few years back.  Come on…..if you’re gonna do it, at least make it your own! And definitely don’t leave your phone around for me to text the same thing to your list of friends….at midnight!

A Family Weekend

dohney-beach.jpg

Micah and I had the best weekend.  It started with dinner with the Lindsey’s (my friend Sarah from Utah) at my favorite…Javier’s.  It was great to catch up with Sarah, and even more fun to meet her new husband.  Micah and Bryce had a great time chatting, and Sarah gets our full approval!

Saturday morning, Micah took Scout on a run in the jogger stroller. They hit the coast, and Micah lulled Scout to sleep.  Afterwards, Micah and I took Scout in our new bike trailer down to San Onofre.  Talk about a pretty ride.  Micah was a bit slower with the trailer, so we were perfectly paired.  We rode a little under 15 miles, and got a great work out in.  Afterwards, we headed to Doheny beach to have a picnic on the beach.  I don’t what it is, but Micah makes the best sandwiches in the world.  We went home and hopped in the pool and jacuzzi - the pool was 79 degrees due to sweet solar panels!  We ended up at the mall to have a great Cheesecake F. dinner, and a little shopping.  Not Micah’s favorite thing - or mine for that matter - but he got a few treats in the mix.  Micah went non family that night, when he and Tacky headed to Harbor House for a mean chocolate malt.  Tacky…is it the winner?

Sunday was filled with church, two nice strolls, a fab dinner and a little R & R!  Life is good!

Losing my mind…

I keep telling everyone that the second I had Scout, my memory was shot.  My long term memory wasn’t that affected, but my short term is a stinking joke!  “The proof is in the pudding” (you like that AZ?):

I went to South Coast Plaza yesterday.  While in Nordstrom I was in the midst of a transaction at Savvy.  It was taking a bit of time, so I went browsing a little more.  Found two shirts I liked, hung them on my stroller to take into the dressing room.  Next thing I know, I am in the cafe.  Mid bite I realize I still have these two shirts hanging from the stroller.  I devise an entire plan of how to return them to their rightful place.

After a fun afternoon, I head back to Bloomingdales (across the entire mall).  As I go out to my car, I unload….only to find those two shirts still hanging from the stroller.  What is wrong with me?  I am usually sharp, and not in the least vacant minded.  Who knows……but the worst part is that when I went in and out of Bloomingdales, the alarms went off, and I STILL didn’t clue in!  Oh well….just a good excuse to get back to SCP again today.

10 month screw up

Every time Scout turns another month older (the 30th of each month), I try and make a little “to do” about it.  But before I knew it, we were already into March.  I felt like a failure that I let the day go by without even a second thought!  UNTIL…. I realized that February only has 28 or 29 days.  It all makes a little more sense now.
