AKA……. The Constipation Blues. The little guy has been so stopped up ever since I have been giving him milk instead of formula. Although the little clenched fists, grunting and bright red face always make me crack up, I was on the search of getting him regular without overdosing him on prune juice — GROSS! After a few weeks, I finally had my idea…..I was going to get the newest juicer on the market by Breville, and add a little fresh veggie or fruit juice to his milk. At first, I just added a little apple, and it worked like a dream. Now I am getting more creative to get the max amount of nutrients and good stuff in his diet. Hence, this morning he had his milk with a splash of pear, a squeeze of carrot and a wet pinch of parsley. How’s that for healthy!

I’m curious why you’re giving him milk if it’s doing such terrible things to him? Did Dr. C. tell you to? Or do you just figure the kid’s all but grown up now, so time for the real world?

What kind of milk are you giving him? I started too early with Bennett and it back fired, so i am holding off until Grayson turns one. But i’m getting anxious because formula is gross and expensive. Maybe i will jump the gun…

Sarah— I actually have a man from a little farm deliver fresh milk every Wednesday on my doorstep. It is hormone and additive free, so maybe that is the problem. Maybe because it is so natural, it is harder for the little guy. BUT (contrary to what Mrs. Tucker might think) I am more interested in my little guy’s health and future health, so I am going to stick with it. But no biggie….the fresh fruit and veggie juices have taken care of the problem. Also, my doctor said 9 months was when to start him on whole milk. And according to everyone that has raised succesfully healthy kids — all babies get stopped up with the whole milk unless there are other things in their diets to counteract the stoppage.

Hold on now! Tarah’s comment sounded like I thought the blog was negative. Quite the contrary…I told her I thought it was so hilarious that she had to read it for herself.
And about my comment on his constipation, I honestly was asking if Dr. C. told you to start him on regular milk? It only surprises me because I have never heard of anyone saying to start that early because of the lack of iron in cow’s milk. That’s all. I buy organic milk too.
I’m glad he’s not constipated anymore…

Hey L.D.
I started both my kids on milk around ten months, and they have both been very healthy, happy kids. So whatever–and p.s., your juicer looks fabulous!
