I figured it was about time to get my rear in gear. The baby is 7 weeks old, I am no longer working, and it is time to be the homemaker. I have commited to cooking dinner Monday - Thursday (Friday is date night, Saturday is a free for all, and my mom cooks on Sunday)! I wouldn’t call myself a culinary genious, but I certainly have a good mentor in my mom. I started out with homemade BBQ’d hamburgers with all of the fixings and fresh fruit. They were to die for, and I even added special touches - I stuffed Micah’s with bleu cheese (his favorite) and I buttered and toasted the buns. BUT I had a plan B. In case they didn’t turn out the way they were supposed to, I had a sidetracking plan in play. Micah has said he has been needing some casual business clothes, and a few summer things. So I went shopping the same day and had a stack of presents ready for him to open. The beauty of it all is that he loved the burgers AND the clothes!
Micah, Tristen, my Mom, Trilby and I went to a My Ocean charity event last night. It was very fun, with fabulous food, a Chris Isaak Concert, freebies, a silent auction and a live auction. As Micah and I walked around the silent auction, I saw about twenty things I wanted to bid on. Most consisted of extravagant vacations in exotic places, but when they announced 30 seconds left, we were at the cheapest of the four tables. This is where the local venues, (Orange County Philharmonic Society, Opera houses, Sports stadiums, etc.) put things up to auction on. When they announced 5 seconds, I saw the paper with “Medievil Times” on it. The next bid was for $75.00, and I have always wanted to go, so I slapped my pre-registered sticker on it, and they called TIME! I was the lucky recipient of two tickets, to a place I get to eat with my hands and enjoy the show! Micah was just glad that at the five second mark I wasn’t near the three night stay at the Montage, or any of the first class trips!
After the silent auction and dinner, they had their live auction. Two fun things transpired. I bid on a seven night stay at a first class resort in Fiji -including airfare, butler service and about everything else- but was outbid by about $20,000 in the end. Micah just laughed, but my mom was about to have a heart attack. The other cool thing that transpired was Hadi, Trilby’s boss, made the largest bid on a single item in the history of Orange County. He is now the proud owner of a Rolls Royce Phantom with every bell and whistle for a measly $310,000.
We always have a great time at the charity events. But nothing topped last year when Kenny Loggins put on the concert, and he publicly dedicated a song to “Lindsey Denison” and then leaned down and kissed me right on the lips! I wasn’t all that thrilled, but every middle aged woman around me was so jealous, that I did take a little pride in the whole thing!

Scout absolutely loves this new thing Nonnie got him. The first few times, he had a short attention span, but recently he absolutely loves it. The lights go on and off, and the music plays…and Scout tries to talk to it. He will hang out under it for a good thirty minutes - which he has only done once because he is held every other second of his life!
Scout’s latest trick involves scooting across a blanket. I will stick a blanket on the floor, and if I put my hand down so that his foot has something to push against, he will scoot all the way to the other side. He has to be in a fiesty mood, but he was born with amazing quad muscles! Micah is So impressed.

She is finally 12 -the official age to babysit- and I can’t believe it! It is amazing how fast time flies. We went to Ichibiri’s to celebrate and finished the night off with her favorite — strawberry cheesecake! Happy Birthday, and for your gift…I offer you a beautiful baby to babysit anytime I need you to! You are a pretty lucky girl.
So in this week’s People that my mom tossed my way, there is an article named, “Bikini Body - After Baby”. It features Brooke Burke five months after she had her baby. My reply is this:
1. I am only 1.5 months out, so I will see you in five months!
2. I am more of a “tank-ini” type of girl!
3. I know, I know! Which is why I signed up for a 12K on September 1st, 2007. It equates to just over 7 miles, and looks pretty fun. I have gotten a few people to run it with me for moral support, but anyone else interested is welcome. Micah put together a training schedule for me, and I got clearance from my doctor just this morning to get going on the jogging. I am excited, and my first small jog today went well. I didn’t have to stop at all! But I won’t write down how slow I went or how short a run it was!

Skylar and Scout have become fast best friends. The second she gets home from school -or anywhere for that matter- she immediately asks, “Where’s the baby?” Then she HAS to hold him no matter who else has him, if he is sleeping, if he is eating, etc. The few times she can’t hold him because others are, or he is sleeping….she just looks me straight in the eyes and says, “I thought about him ALL day. Can’t I just give him a hug?” I say a “small hug”, and next thing I know she is walking around with him, rocking him, singing to him, playing school with him, etc. I love that she adores him so much, and am glad to have a great little helper!
Micah - You have really lived up to the challenge! Thanks for being such a good, kind, patient and most importantly….loving dad! XOXO Lindsey and Scout

Micah ran with a team called the “Utah Rednecks” in the Camp Pendelton Mud Run today. The team consisted of Devin and Ciara Lindahl, a girl named Kim and his sister Bree. In honor of the team, domestic Bree made really cool team shirts. They were bright yellow with “Utah Rednecks” on the front in red. On the back was their names in camoflauge. And the kicker was the arms of the shirt were cut off in true redneck style! They did pretty well, but Micah and Devin have plans to be running next year in even better style…..they want to come back with three other great runners and win the whole thing wearing pink, short shorts and zorro masks. Luckily Scout isn’t a little older, because that is definitely the type of thing a kid would be embarassed by!
This little guy will stare at whomever is talking to him and make mouth movements and try to talk. He has gotten some sounds out, and he really is trying to have a mini conversation. That may be a slight exageration, but he is definitely close to saying some words!
