After a quiet and productive morning with these four being sweet to one another…
img_5925-2017-11-02-at-17-33-24.jpg
I figured it was time to take them to the new sushi gem I found.
They loved, loved, loved it…but all agree that Good Choice is still highest on their list.
Maybe it’s the first name basis they’re all on with everyone at Good Choice.

Halloween Partial Fail

img_5895-2017-10-31-at-17-39-17.jpg
I’ve got to be honest — Halloween was kind of a fail this year.  At least costume wise, from a woman who prides herself on her kid’s costumes each year.  Scout had informed me that he was going to get his own costume this year — until three days ago.  And when he decided to dress with us, everything was sold out.  So Navy graciously decided to dress as a shadow (she claims she wanted to, but I am sure she was just being nice), and Scout and Dash took over the android costumes, while Pippi was her tried and true princess.
We went to Micah’s childhood neighborhood, and the kids raked in as much as they ever have.
It was a total score, and the kids were very happy with their loot.  Especially Scout, who parted from the group, and literally ran from house to house.

I guess the androids were pretty pumped over their outfits.
Thanks Navy.

And my pooped shadow (who was wearing an outfit three sizes too for her) was my star of the night.
No complaints, great attitude all night, and always fun and adventurous to be around.

Girlfriend?

img_5893-2017-10-31-at-12-08-19.jpg
This is Dash’s reaction when his buddy threw him under the fence, and told me Dash has a girlfriend!
Dash spent the next 10 minutes explaining that Elodie was a girl, and she was a friend.
BUT NOT A GIRLFRIEND!

Candy Spot

img_5875-2017-10-30-at-16-10-28.jpg
Last year I found Scout in the tree with a bag of Halloween candy.
This year, I found Navy.
Apparently, this is the only place the older kids can hide from their “younger siblings” to eat their candy.
But we all know the real person they are hiding from is me!

Braces

The other night B came to the house with a picture of a pumpkin she wanted to carve for the dental office she works for.  It was a Jack O Lantern with braces!  This afternoon, while a neighbor was having kids over to carve pumpkins, Scout spent twice the amount of time over there.

When he came back…we were all dying over his cute pumpkin, and his sweet gesture.
And when Trilby saw it…she was freaking out, and made the biggest fuss over it.  Scout was so proud of his pumpkin, and Trilby’s reaction was the icing on top.  Especially when he told her that she got to take it in to her work!

Prickly Grass

img_5866-2017-10-29-at-07-50-21.jpg
Poor little Pippi and Dash decided to go barefoot on some prickly grass.  Now, two days later, all of the mini splinters are getting infected…so we had to turn to Pinterest.

So the verdict is out on the baking soda splinter mask.
It sucked.
That afternoon was a tough one, while I sat with my headlamp, tweezers and specimen cup to right their wrong.

Dash’s 6th Birthday

img_5836-2017-10-26-at-11-41-44.jpg
It has only been six years that I have had a little bit of pure sunshine in my home.  Dash woke up so excited about his big 6th birthday.  He took giant sticky hands to all of his classmates, and came out of school with his birthday crown!

That afternoon, Navy made a huge sign for the real fun—Dash’s birthday party.
img_5840-2017-10-26-at-17-15-02.jpg
Dash invited a bunch of his knucklehead friends.
It was a birthday party of challenges.
The kids first swam, and had battles in the pool — like who could stay on their boogie board the longest.
Then we went over to Thein park, where we set up a huge obstacle course — where they were timed and raced each other.
img_5841-2017-10-26-at-18-04-59.jpg
That was followed up by more challenges, and snow cones!
img_5844-2017-10-26-at-19-02-28.jpg
And the night ended with a few presents from mom and dad.

Happiest 6th birthday, to the boy who can light up a room in an instant.

Pippi’s Halloween Preschool Party

img_5809-2017-10-25-at-10-37-09.jpg
Pippi had her Halloween preschool party today.  Like usual, every girl is dressed frilly and cute, and my girl isn’t.  But Pippi chose to wear the astronaut costume that Scout had when he was little.  I was thrilled, and she thought she looked pretty awesome — especially her “robot bun hair”.
img_5804-2017-10-25-at-10-29-35.jpg
Like usual, the performance was darling.  And a special perk of the day, was that she got to bob for the apple first — before any snotty kids!
Long live ABC preschool…and the greatest performances ever!

Boy Humor

img_5833-2017-10-25-at-15-45-52.jpg
While going through Scout’s papers in his backpack, I stopped when I saw the graffiti on his newspaper book.
Flashbacks of Pee-Chee folders from my youth came flooding back.
Then I looked at him, and we both started cracking up before I told him that he shouldn’t do stuff like that.

Spindle Starfish

The tide was really low today.
It was perfect for finding wildlife in the rocks.
img_5763-2017-10-23-at-18-26-20.jpg
Not surprisingly, Navy came to me with a bucket full of spindle starfish.
She might have had 50 starfish.
img_5758-2017-10-23-at-17-40-54.jpg
Surprisingly, Scout was handling one of the starfish.
He still waits for Navy to handle bugs and wildlife first, but he will almost always follow Navy’s suit now days.
I’m just not sure he would see a wild tarantula and start playing with it the way navy would and has…but just like me…he thinks Navy should take the reins on those types of things!
