How stinking cute is Dash’s journal entry. I sent this to Grey, and he corrected Dash to say his hair is actually orange!
Buddies
Navy Note
Navy always makes sweet notes for everyone.
I really liked this original idea of hers that I got today, after a walk around our naighborhood!
His Fingers
I would like to document that at almost seven years old, Dash still has an affinity for those two fingers. I told him he has a birthday coming up, and it might be a good breaking point. He told me he didn’t think it was, but that maybe he will stop sucking his fingers when he turns eight. I’ll bet you he doesn’t.
Pips & Dash Scootering
Pippi has become quite the little scooterer lately. She is fast, takes turns flawlessly, and looks good while doing it.
Dash wanted in on the action. She explained to him that she needed to be the teacher, and he needed to follow what she told him.
Dash was quite the sport!
Scout & Buddies Surf
Since Scout and his buddy Brock are on the surf team, and since it was a minimum day…we all decided it was a perfect day to practice surfing.
It was Scout, Brock and Ezra.
They rode in on a lot of white water.
Then made drip castles.
All while I relaxed and kept up on my college application essays!
Family Narc
PIppi has kind of become the family narc. Sometimes I love it because I don’t have eyes everywhere, but some of her sibling’s patience is running out. This particular instance, Pippi was telling me that Dash had said, “But Mooooooom!” She was disgusted, and appalled at his behavior and was telling me all about it. I wasn’t sure where the offense was, but then she explained to me that he said B-U-T! Hahaha! In our family, “butt” is not the nicest word to use, so I tell them to say bottom and booty instead, and Pippi was there to inform me that Dash had not heeded my advice. When we all discovered what this was all about, we all started cracking up, and agreed that Dash should get in trouble. (Not her “punch in the face” she suggested!) We figured that getting Dash in “trouble” was better than trying to explaining spelling and vocab to Pips.
Mama’s 80th Trip!
My mom turns 80 this year…8-0!!! That is insane! I really can’t believe that she is 80. We were throwing around ideas for her big celebrations, but in the end, we decided to have a girls trip back east! It is one of her favorite places, with her favorite people, and we knew it would be a winner. So unbeknownst to her, all of the girls arranged their schedules, we got flights and a rental van, we booked the hotels, and this week…we boarded a plane to Portland Maine! The itinerary is to hit up Maine, then go up through New Hampshire and Vermont, and finally head back to the coast to make our way down through Rhode Island and Connecticut.
I knew that my mom would have to mentally prepare (and get anything last minute that she needed ), so we told her a few days before the trip. Good thing she prepared, because once we got there…
She surprised US!!! She said no trip is fun, without extra cash to spend! We all agreed!
Our trip was a blast.
All of the favorite towns (like Kennebunkport here), had the cutest and best restaurants. Literally, the food was good everywhere. We had a lobster roll at this place that was literally to die for!
The coast was so fun, and seeing places like the Bush Compound (above) and Hyannis were a little treat.
The leaves were just starting to change, and when we were up in Vermont, it was amazing to see the brightest, most colorful trees!
A favorite stop was this maple farm, that had a taste testing of all sorts of property-produced maple, and cheese from their cows! I LOVE me a taste test!
Mystic Conneticut was probably the cutest town we stopped in — no wonder Julia Roberts made it famous.
But my favorite was just driving. Driving along the old roads, and running into adorable little shops run by a family. I could search for these places for days!
Ultimately, it was too short. The “girls” decided that we need to do a few more of these trips in our near future. My mom had a blast, and we all agreed it had been too long! Happy 80th birthday mom. Nothing could have been better than to have just spent uninterrupted time with you. I am so glad we chose this trip over a party!
Now where should we go for the big 8-1?
Rockin’ Out
Pippi rocked out to “The Greatest Showman” all night. She had moves like no other. We loved when she climbed the pole, and danced from the top!
But her dancing did her in.
Two hours later, she was hot and ready to throw up.
But like the greatest sick person…she never misses the bowl.
Exciting TK Day!
Pippi got in the car as happy as a little girl can be! First off, she made this whole apple headband by herself! Yep..she glues the whole thing. But that doesn’t even comprise 1% of her excitement! The 99+% is because she got her school pictures!
She went through the several options they gave her, and rated them favorite to the worst.
Let’s start with the worst…
She doesn’t really like the boring gray or blue background. And she doesn’t like her smile that much.
This is her very very favorite, because she loves the American flag, and she thinks her smile is much better in this patriotic one!
(I didn’t have the heart to tell her that it is the same picture, just different backgrounds!)
I thought they were all darling!
So darling, I took a picture of the mini sample ones they sent, and returned it to school the next day.
Fun Run 2018
Welcome to the Fun Run 2018…where Dash ran his little heart out, but didn’t make any money for the school, because I refuse to pay for laps the size of a small pool.
And where Navy ran in her sandals because her burn won’t let her wear any other shoes, but she still dominated, and used her spray bottle to douse herself and her four closest friends.
Dear Bergeson,
Make your laps legit, and I will pay. I will even let extended family pay. But don’t shortchange my kids out of a real run! All while stealing everyone’s money!
