Ryan came into town for the fourth of July and has not put the baby down! He has the history of being the baby whisperer, which started when Skylar was the worst baby in history. (The girl never stopped crying until Ryan or Trilby was holding her.) Scout loves him, and looks at him and smiles and smiles…and even laughs!

Scout is a little man after his momma’s heart! I would like to say it was his first taste of ice cream (at two months), but he has had a few before…which is why I knew he would love it. After tasting it, he just kept licking his lips for about a minute. The first time he tried it was when he was being fussy one day. I stuck the end of his plug in some and gave it to him…and not only did it stop the fussing, but he was sold!
I really think Scout is the most loved baby around! Whenever anyone comes to my house, the first question is, “Where’s the baby?” I especially love how every cousin of his is enamored by him. You would think that because he is the 20th grandchild, the attitude would be, “been there, done that”, but it is the complete opposite. I actually am to the point where I hand out Veto’s - which means you can’t hold him for the rest of the day. Skylar got one the other day because I kept telling her to stop kissing him during his nap because she would wake him up. About three minutes later, there he was with his bright eyes open! She was SO mad about the veto…but she learned her little lesson! Now she only does it when I am not looking.

I have to say that Scummy Tacky is one of my favorite friends of ALL time! No matter when I see her she is in a good mood, and no matter the time or place, she is up for fun! It is always nice to have a friend who is 100% drama free. And to top it all off, she has about the coolest husband on earth (next to the Shmickster!) Shout out to Scumball Tacker!
Last night Micah caught the entertainment part of the news when people were walking out of the Transformer’s movie getting interviewed. They all said it was one of their favorite movies of all time, and a must see! Micah got so excited, he ran down to the computer to see if there were any more showings last night. Mind you…it was 11:15pm. It just so happened there was a midnight showing, and he was battling in his head if he should go or not. He asked me if I wanted to go, and I tried to act excited, but he saw right through it. And to be honest, nothing sounded worse to me at that moment. He called Tacky, but he was too tired. So his tried and true midnight movie buddy, Calin Clifford, was totally up for the fun. She was SO excited, she was ready in about five seconds. Micah said it wasn’t until they were in the car that she asked what movie they were going to see!
I told Micah he had to take the camera to take pictures for Calin’s new blog and I asked this morning to see them. Very interesting that Micah is not in even one of them!??? I told him if he went, I was going to blog about him and name it “Nerd Alert”. When I asked him this morning why he wasn’t in any of the pictures, he said, “if I am not in any picture…than you can’t prove I was there.” Well then, I guess Calin walked there!

Skilly is the proud owner of Scout’s first laugh at 2 months and 1 week! My mom is SO jealous, but it came after Skilly played with him and read to him for about two hours. Nice job Skilly!
We went to Pines Park for our Rock and Roll Dana Point Concert. Micah, Skilly Scout and I went early to reserve our spot and set up. Skylar was watching her best friend Scout and lifting him up in the air like Superman. Too bad for her that his tummy wasn’t settled completely after eating and he did a number all over her face about four times in a row. The picture doesn’t even do it justice as her face was completely covered, and she got a big chunk in her mouth. Poor girl, but afterward she did say, “It tasted like chocolate milk.” How—I am not quite sure!??

The concert was really fun. The weather was beautiful with a nice breeze. We had great food. The music was fun with familiar songs I actually knew some of the words to. (At least I knew how to spell R-E-S-P-E-C-T!) And we had a great spot right in the front. We went with my family, and our friends Doug and Mary Jolley met us down there. These concerts make summer so fun!

This morning I was catching up on my blogging near Calin and Skylar. I showed them what I had done and also a few of my friend’s sites and then asked them if they wanted me to set one up for each of them. They were totally excited, and were totally into it. It took us a few minutes and we customized them to look the way they wanted. I then taught them the basics, and they were off. They were both glued to their laptops yesterday and both thanked me at least ten times. I think they each did 3 - 4 posts, and they called all of their friends to look at them. My favorite part is how classic their writing is. They write like they speak, and there are no pretences whatsoever. But the absolute classic was yesterday in the car, Skylar asked me after writing three posts, “So, when should I do my next blog?” I told her she should do one every time there was something exciting so she could keep a record of it. Then in an attempt to make sure blogging doesn’t take over her life, I told her she shouldn’t do more that one a day. She responded with, “Whoa….that’s gonna be hard. I LOVE blogging!” She then proceeded to go home and post at least one more!
By the way Scummy — I am her favorite! How you are even in the post she did for me is REDICULOUS!
Micah put on another Beacon Hill Triathlon…but this time he had a little help! A local running store, Fleet Feet, came down and sponsored the event by putting up the aid station during the run portion. We also had some sponsors send products to give out at the event such as Cliff Bars and Cytomax. The race was really fun, and the pool has never been more full. My duty as the lap counter was a total disaster. I had to split it with some other spectators, but even the lanes I counted may have been off. Hence my pre-race disclaimer….COUNT YOUR OWN LAPS!
We had some pretty cool happenings at the race:
1. We had a new BH Tri winner named Brett Bryan coming in at 1:16:12.

2. ***Marc Hemeon came in 2nd place AND he beat his nemesis Dave Bourne!!! A big congrats and a shout out to the Clydesdale Training Program!***

3. Bryan Tacky gets the award for most improved! He has shaved about 15 minutes off of his time. And for a 1 - 1.5 hour race, that is AWESOME! And the best part is that when he finished, he looked at his watch and said, “I could have totally beat Seth on that one!” I guess spending $5,000+ on bikes really got the fire under your rear a little hotter. Good J-O-B!

4. We got some new people out to the race. And two of them actually are friends of mine from college. Mikey Bartholemew - who tied for first in the swim showed up and did really well coming in 6th. And John Zimmerman had a great race, but his 10 minute transitions where he wailed like Chewbacca kind of added to his total time in a negative way. Even so, he finished 10th out of 17!

5. We had Tarah Hemeon and her brother Jaren battle for 12th place. In the end, Jaren took the lead, but Tarah was a great sport!

6. We had a great crowd of spectators thanks to David Bourne’s family who was in from out of town!

7. Poor Kirk Lindahl showed up at the usual race time - 6:30. We were still in bed when he called Micah’s cell to ask where everyone was. Micah then informed him that this time around the start was 9:30 and he should have slept in! And the saddest part is this would have been the first race he didn’t bring up the rear because there were two flats that lost to his previous times!!!
8. This was Scout’s first BH Tri….and I think he has the itch!
9. And last but not least…Micah, who came in third (1:30 behind 1st) was shunned by my family. My mom said that she is a little humiliated that he didn’t win, and bragging about a third place son-in-law just doesn’t do the trick. Poor Micah, but when you start at the top, the only way to go is down. Which is why I NEVER stop at the top. DUH- who hasn’t learned that trick yet?

It was a success, and thanks to everyone that helped! The next BH Tri is going to be an open water swim for the first time! We will see how that goes!
Every so often I get the total itch to do something fun. So this time around, I planned a 50’s drive-in party! We had a handful of couples over for BBQ’d burgers, milkshakes, hula hooping, music and a drive-in movie. I kind of put it together at the last minute, but it turned out to be a blast.

We had all of the cars back up to the movie screen, and Scummy Tacky and my sister Tristen were roller-skating waitresses. But in the end, Tristen’s stint on skates was short lived because she took two major falls within the first minute. It was hilarious. - especially the part where she was on the ground, face down, begging B. Tacky to get her skates off because she broke her tailbone! Her limp throughout the night had everyone feeling bad, but I kept cracking up everytime I saw it, and told her she better invest in one of those donuts you sit on for a broker tailbone. On the other hand, Scummy proved to be awesome at the whole 50’s thing. She did great on the skates, dominated the hula hoop, and even won a $100 bet that will go unnamed.

The burgers were fabulous. I must say Micah and I are a great team on the grill. Britni made the shakes that were some of the best I have ever had. We then all sat back in the trunks of our cars and watched American Graffiti. I didn’t die over the movie, so I just socialized while Micah and Scout hung out watching the flick!

When it was all over, Micah broke out the DDR, and we have some new people hooked. Namely Andrew Lark who was very impressive, Doug Jolley who picked it up quickly (see the picture of Doug and Micah, and notice Micah squatting like a russian dancer - I think he was either taunting Doug or showing off!), and Mary Jolley who wants to follow in my footsteps and go into labor from DDR.
We had such a fun time, and can’t wait to do more things throughout the summer! And most importantly…PLEASE NOTE….my hair was in a beehive! It looks more along the lines of “the bride of Frankenstein”, but it is supposed to be the ever classic 50’s beehive!
