President’s Day 2019

We always head up to Utah for President’s Day weekend, but most often, we don’t get tons of snow.  My did the tables turn this year!  We had so much snow it was insane!  It was so pretty and so fun, but we were nervous to have Pippi ski for her first time ever on a cold snowy day.  Well…the god’s were smiling down on us, because we went to Sundance and had the most incredible weather you can imagine!

It was sunny, the snow was fresh and groomed, and everyone had a great day of skiing - especially Pippi!  Her first run was a bit rough, but then we headed to the bunny slope (should have started there), and she went up and down a dozen times…and loved it!

Then she braved the slopes with Micah and the others, and he got great footage of her really skiing!

Of course the favorite part was freezing candy.  Navy tried M&M’s because of her jaw widener not letting her have a Snickers.  She said she prefers Snickers!
THe worst part of the day, was when I looked up and saw Navy by herself on a chair lift.  Then I looked at the next chair to see Dash by himself!  How on EARTH did they let him go alone???  He didn’t have the bar to protect him, he was half way off the seat, he was scooting around as I watched him, and he is prone to accidents.  As a mom who doesn’t freak out very often, I was kind of freaking out.  It wasn’t until I saw him come down that I felt okay again.
At the end of our skiing, we packed up and picked up Papa for dinner.  Then Ka begged for the kids to have a sleepover, so she took everyone but Scout to her little college apartment to have a movie night!

The next day, we all met up in Draper so Ka could take Scout to the temple for his first time.

The rest of the time, we spent a lot of time at Bella’s house just having a good time hanging with cousins.  It is actually the funnest trip!  Full of relaxing and fun — the two best things!

Our final day brought a huge snow storm, so we geared up to go sledding!  We found the best hill, had the perfect sleds, and had a good two hours straight of perfect fun.

We will be back for you next year Utah.
Please snow for us!

Scout Ordained!

img_5810-2019-02-10-at-11-35-16.jpg
Scout got the priesthood from B today.  He has been so excited about this day, and hand-picked Bryan to be the one who ordained him.  It was very cool and really special.

Soon after, (based on last conference’s change) Scout passed the sacrament at the age of 11.  He was cool, calm and collected, especially when he put the bread out to Dash, and Dash thought he was a comedian and said, “No Thanks.”  Our whole family got the giggles, and Scout tried his hardest to contain himself…but a little smile crept in, but my light kick wiped it back off.  Stinking Dash!
After sacrament, Scout was asked to be the first new deacon to speak in the ward, so he gave his first talk.  Like always…he did an amazing job!  He spoke about the Holy Ghost, and His influence.  I was so proud of Him…all day long!

When we got home, Bryan gave Scout a card with all of the pertinent information…especially the line of priesthood holders all the way back to Christ.  Now that is awesome!  Really really awesome!
It was a really great day with you Scout.
Way to make a mama proud.

Monster Jam ‘19

img_5744-2019-02-09-at-18-48-10.jpg
We finally got the Seastrands out to Monster Jam.  We have been talking for years about how fun it is.  Here is the problem.  It has been raining constantly this year, and because of that, the track wasn’t crisp and was muddy.  So all of the crazy high air they usually get, and the awesome tricks they do kind of went by the wayside.

It doesn’t relaly matter…we finally introduced the Seastrands to our white trash ways.
They, in turn, introduced us to their high end ways, as they got three cotton candy’s to the tune of $120!!!  They were $40 each, because they came with some lame mask that ended up on the floor by the time we left.  Leave it to the Seastrands!!!! We were dying…and I think Jason was a little too!

Overall, it was still fun.  It was fun for the kids to have their buddies, and fun for the adults to hang out together.  But the best part, was when we were driving home and Micah read a few chapters out of Where the Red Fern Grows…and we are almost done with the book we started in Book Nook a month ago.  You know Monster Jam is lagging, when some quiet chapters trump the big loud trucks!

Dash’s Resolutions

img_5736-2019-02-06-at-14-11-45.jpg
Dash has three resolutions this year…
#1 - Get a trophy in tennis.
#2 - Be nicer to my siblings.
#3 - Get better at catching balls.
Then he asks…”Do you think my resolutions are cool?”
Yep Dash…I do.
Especially number two.

Widener

img_5735-2019-02-05-at-09-36-26.jpg
Let the orthodontia begin.
Navy is starting out with a jaw widener.  After eight months, that will be removed and when she has all of her adult teeth…it is braces time.  And Scout is just a few months away from getting all of his adult teeth for his braces.  Dash will be somewhere behind them…and Pippi…OH PIPPI!  That poor girl is going to take the works!

Pippi’s Short Talk

Pippi has personally asked to give a talk in primary.
So although she is feeling pretty terrible and lethargic, she agreed to her talk.
We made it short and simple, and she literally nailed it…memorized and all!
Nice work sick Pip.

Engineer

img_5721-2019-02-02-at-10-08-23.jpg
I am pretty sure that the engineers who constructed major engineering marvels, like the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Eiffel Tower, started out making block tunnels for all sorts of Hot Wheels.
Dash…make sure you name your future marvel something with the name Denison in it.

Left Right Center

img_5713-2019-02-01-at-20-07-46.jpg
Scout had some of his buddies over for a game night.  Everyone was able to come, and it ended up being a blast!  We ultimately landed on Left Right Center the game, and the night ignited!  I told them all I would “sell” them each three quarters, if from this point, until the day I died…when I flashed the “I Love You” sign, they HAD to do it back.  All agreed, and all were 75 cents richer.  The game was intense, and ended up with Mack winning!  They all asked when they were coming back for round two of game night, and I told them that depends on how well they hold their end of the bargain up.
We will see.
(Update: I have NEVER seen one of these kids, where they don’t flash me the I Love You sign to me first!!!  I actually can’t believe it!  But they are total shoe ins for the next game night!)

Working Sick

img_5692-2019-02-01-at-12-41-25.jpg
Pippi is still really sick.
She lounges around most of the day from one napping spot to the next.
Poor thing.
img_5717-2019-02-01-at-21-25-23.jpg
But that doesn’t stop her from insisting on giving me lotion foot massages.
I tell her I will give her the massage..but she insists.  And poops out about three minutes in.

Chinese New Year ‘19

Let’s just say that someone was very excited to perform a beautiful Chinese fan dance.
And someone was bummed to have to wear slippery clothes to school.
Guess which is which.
