Primary Program

My mom put together an insanely good primary program — yet again.
Of course my kids all had really long parts, which were each impeccably memorized.

But the breakout star of the show, was the youngest kid in it!
Just check out Dash belting out those primary tunes!

Countdown To Sanibel

img_9072-2015-10-24-at-12-04-24.jpg
Check out what I saw on the counter today.
Navy made a countdown to Sanibel, and when I saw it later, it had a huge red check in Sunday.
I die over my kids being this excited for something!

THE SOLUTION!!!!!

The Painted Ninja has been forcefully retired.
Halle-stinking-lujiah!
Britni has been telling me to get the same tents that her kids sleep in for months.  I kept ignoring her, because all of my kids have had a few days of breaking out of their beds, but I have taught them not to — and then they just know.  I preferred to do it that way, but Pippi was WAY too headstrong, and WAY too curious, and WAY too vain to stay put.  My little make up addict, was giving me a run for my money.
So I finally made the purchase.

At first, I felt bad that she was confined…but after an extra long nap, and her not escaping to make a huge mess…I got over it really quickly.
But the surprising and great news….
img_9088-2015-10-26-at-08-11-18.jpg
SHE LOVES IT!
She runs into it.  She plays in it.  She sets it up with all of her blankets and animals.  She absolutely LOVES it!
We are on day three, and I think the Painted Ninja has finally succumbed to her all-knowing Sansei.
Or her Sansei finally listened to a good friend’s advice.

Lizard Whisperer

img_9074-2015-10-24-at-12-52-10.jpg
I think Navy shows off a lizard she caught at least once a week.  This day, she caught a particularly big lizard…so she just had to come inside to show it to me.  Well, about three seconds after I took the requested picture, that lizard ran down my leg, and found a hiding spot.  I could have killed Navy.  But then I remembered that the lizard whisperer must be as good at catching lizards inside as she is at catching them outside.
And my hunch was spot on.
About five minutes later, the coast was clear of any reptile escapees.

Homecoming 2015

img_9050-2015-10-23-at-18-02-07.jpg
Tonight was the night that Ka had been planning towards forever!  She had put so many hours into the halftime show, it is crazy.  So we were all there to support.
img_9066-2015-10-23-at-20-17-52.jpg
The first half of the game was long, so we took a long break and headed up to the school garden for some fun.
(And some potty breaks for the boys.)

When we made our way down, the kids were loving the halftime show.  It was actually pretty awesome.  Ka did some nice work.

Then it was the homecoming court announcements, and she looked amazing beside her dad.
And then….they announced the DHHS Homecoming Queen of 2015….
and her name was called!

It was a great night!
But my favorite part of the night was when the lady next to me said , “Wow, she is beautiful.”  And without knowing that I was related, the lady behind her leaned forward and said, “And she is nicer than she is beautiful.”
Good job Ka.

My other favorite of the night — when she came home and finally exhale after a long two months.

Scout’s Treats

img_9067-2015-10-23-at-15-07-06.jpg
This is just a little treat Scout surprised Bella with.
It is a Kid MasterChef inspired “Waffle filled with whipped cream, and raspberries on top”.
Well done.

He got such high accolades, he ran down and made waffles with Nutella dip.
Bella was nice enough to let all of the kids enjoy with her — on her bed!
Gross and great, all at the same time!

Dress Rehearsal

Somehow a few years ago, hitting up the DHHS dress rehearsal for homecoming became a favorite tradition.  It started when NayNay was in the half time show, and we could get way better seats the night before.  So ever since, we go the night before in our pajamas.  It is a blast for my kids.
This year, Ka was in charge of the whole thing — so we were especially excited to go.  And to top it off, she was in the homecoming court!

NayNay flew in to see Ka, and Bella was already in town — so it was perfect.
We all watched, snacked on some of B’s food, and had a fun time until really late at night.
Who knows what we will be doing next year?
Will the tradition live on?
Or will we bypass the tradition until Scout is in high school?
I guess I’ll let the kids decide.

Homework

img_9033-2015-10-22-at-17-45-17.jpg
After a meltdown at home, Scout finally saw the light as to why he needed to complete his homework in order to go to the DHHS Homecoming Dress Rehearsal.  So after the Primary Program, as all of the other kids were eating the pizza Nonnie got them, I looked over to see Scout on the ground — working away.
Needless to say, he did his part — so I did my part, and took him to a fun night of watching Dana Hills work out all of the kinks for their upcoming show.
Nice work Scout.

Wallet Thief

I’m not totally sure what this little girl is trying to find, but whatever it is — it probably isn’t in Nonnie’s wallet.
But that doesn’t stop her from trying on a daily basis.

“School Phase”

img_9019-2015-10-22-at-08-47-31.jpg
So much good comes with preschool.
But so much bad does too.
My sweet, innocent, always happy, always willing to help boy, now has streaks of defiance and whining and even a little sass.
HOW SAD!!!
The only thing I hold onto is that Navy and Scout went through the same thing.  They see other behaviors that they didn’t know were “legal” and tried them out at home.  I call it the “school phase”.  I hate the school phase, because it makes a lot more work for me to consistently discipline the heck out of the bad stuff coming in.
But I see light with Dash already.
No matter how many magnet castles Pippi ruins, or how many snacks she steals from him, or how many times she teases him — he never loses patience with her.
He is sweet to the core with his little sister.
So I am hoping that this “school phase” comes to a quick close!
