Navy Notes

It is not uncommon to walk around the house to see a note with your name on it.
I like to call these Navy Notes.

They are full of cute little things that makes the recipient happy.
And today, we lucked out!
There was a huge scattering of these all over the place!

He’s Back!

img_0200-2015-12-01-at-23-17-52.jpg
Krispy is back — with his hat on backwards!
Remind me why I started this awful tradition!?
My kids love him, and are bummed that he only comes 10 days for our family.
I kind of loathe him.
I always forget to hide him.  Someone is always freaking out because he got touched.  And December is already crazy enough!

But to my kid’s delight, he brought advent calendars for each of them.
And after they found him, I told them the exciting news!!!
Santa sent a note that said, we are almost off the “watch list”.  He says our kids are almost good enough to not have to have an elf next year.
Then my kids plotted that they were going to be bad, just to keep him.
Then I told them — be too bad, and Christmas is off.  Be good, and I bet we still get him for 3-5 days next year (for the youngens)!
Let the whittling down begin!

Best Friends Vid

img_0197-2015-12-01-at-19-51-00.jpg
I think this might be the 63rd time these two kids watch the “Best Friends” video I made of my four kids.
It is to die for — they laugh in all of the same places, they oooh at the same places, and they both beg to watch it again after it is finished!
Where is Scout you ask?
Showering…and minutes away from squeezing in right between them.

Tight Bands

img_0006-2015-12-01-at-11-11-50.jpg
Pippi got into Scout’s silly bands, and almost cut off her circulation for good.
From the moment I took this photo, until they were all off her wrist, her hand turned dark blue.
My mom spotted them first, and I felt sick that I didn’t see her into them.
Thank goodness for Eagle Eyes Patty Poo.
(Scout did this exact same thing when he was little, with a random small rubber band.  I was holding his hand in the movie theater, when I realized that something was really wrong.  His hand was totally swollen, and purple — but nothing like the dark blue on little Pips.)
Scary stuff.

Growing Pain

img_0004-2015-12-01-at-11-11-16.jpg
Dash is my sweetest kid by nature.  But nurture and preschool and a few other things have been thrown into the mix, and he is one royal pain as of lately.  He is sassy, stinky, naughty, and belligerent.  The chair he is standing next to is one of his favorite spots lately — the time out chair.
The only silver lining — I had another sweet boy go through this pain-in-the-neck stage, and he grew right out of it.
The golden lining — when he gets in trouble, he actually feels bad, and usually apologizes in the most lovable and charming way!  And then cuddles me for five minutes before heading off to do more naughty things.

Eyes Finally Named

I think my quest to name Pippi’s eyes has finally been completed.
I knew one day, it would just come to me — and this is the day that it did!
Now remember….
Scout’s eyes are Army Green.
Navy’s eyes are Milk Chocolate Brown.
Dash’s Eyes are Dark Chocolate Brown.
And Pippi…

If her eyes aren’t Cinnamon Brown … then I don’t know whose are!!!
Cinnamon Brown!
Lucky her!
Brown, with just the teeniest amount of warm red in them.
FINALLY….
all eyes are named.
(But I want to kick myself for not naming Navy’s eyes, Indian Red.  Some days, they have so much red in them, we say they are Milk Chocolate Brown and Indian Red at the same time.  But then, Navy and Dash wouldn’t match anymore…..what a mess!)

“Uh-Huh” & “Uh-Uh”

img_0014-2015-12-01-at-18-13-32-1.jpg
“Uh-Huh” and “Uh-Uh” might sound similar to some, but in my world — there is a big difference.
Pippi’s response to everything is one of those sounds.
She has a dainty voice, and her responses are quick — so I have become quite the sound slayer.
I’ll ask her if she wants cereal?
“Uh-Huh”.
I’ll ask her if she wants to go to bed with her night night.
“Uh-Huh”.
I’ll ask if she wants to pick up “wavy” and “goat” and “dashy” from school?
“Uh-Huh”.
I ask her if she loves her mama?
“Uh-Uh.”
Did you catch that?

Hot Chocolate Maker

In this sea of unruly boys, there is one girl who really knows how to host an event.
Today she gathered everyone together to partake of her amazing hot chocolate.

Pippi was loving the hot chocolate — and I’m pretty sure she wants to be just like her big sis when she is a bit older.

Unwelcomed School Helpers

img_9988-2015-11-30-at-12-34-13.jpg
I love to be with my kids in most places.  But when I am heading off to help in Scout or Navy’s classroom, I really don’t enjoy my littles with me.  Actually, Dash isn’t too bad by himself, but Pippi is horrible by herself, and the two of them are awful!  This day, I had a big talk with them, and they even gave me a thumbs up, illustrating to me that they were going to be on their best behavior.
img_9984-2015-11-30-at-12-05-12.jpg
When we got to the library, they got a warm welcome like always.
All of Navy’s classmates think my littles are hilarious…mostly due to their naughty nature.
But true to their reputation…they were awful!
At least the class was entertained, as I had Dash in time out while holding Pippi in one arm — while reading the class a book in the other.

PJ Reversal

img_9981-2015-11-30-at-09-04-02.jpg
My kids are hilarious!
With the exception of Pippi, none of my kids sleep in their PJ’s.
They are underwear sleepers — always have been, and probably always will be.
But first thing in the morning, with our house windows open letting the freezing air in…one by one, my kids show up in their PJ’s and robes.
This day Dash got Nonnie to help him put his race car pajamas on.
And for an extra boost of warmth, he climbed in Nonnie’s famous robe right afterward.
