Engineering

I love it when I see Micah get completely enthralled in the kid’s toys.
This was an engineering project that Dash needed help with, and Micah came to his rescue and got the fan blowing.

Go Noodle

img_7142-2017-02-25-at-18-08-57.jpg
Navy introduced us to Go Noodle.  It’s a YouTube channel that puts simple dances to popular songs.  When she showed us “Fight Song” (my kids favorite song…introduced to us by Scout), my kids wanted to dance to it over and over!  I was a little surprised that she was watching YouTube at school, so I asked her when they watch it.  She told us it is what they do for P.E.!  WHAT!?!
What about go out and run a few laps?

The only silver lining to finding out how pathetic my kid’s school P.E. is, is watching Dash teach Grey the ropes and moves of Go Noodle!

Homemade Gift

Dad came home to this sweet homemade gift.
Navy had blended up peanuts to make him his very own homemade peanut butter!
I saw him snacking on apples and peanut butter, toast and peanut butter, and anything else that goes with peanut butter for three days because of Navy’s sweet gift!

Olympic Ice Skating

Each night, as we hunker down to watch the Olympics, Pippi comes out in whatever garb she can drum up, to mimic what we are watching.  Tonight was ice skating.  I think the whole family agrees, that Pippi’s performances are better than the real thing.  Because she got perfect tens from all of us on the couch.

Utah Ski Trip ‘17

img_6976-2017-02-17-at-14-04-20.jpg
Dash is skiing for the first time!  He is such a stud, and didn’t even seem nervous — especially with all of the gear you need to wear, that was completely weighing him down.
We headed to Sundance for his first day…and we would all call it a success!

Micah and I had to rent all of our stuff half way up the mountain, so we opted out of the bunny hill for Dash — and headed straight to the good stuff.

There were plenty of falls, and getting off the lift was a little tricky, but after his first run — he was an old pro!
He was awesome…and totally fast!
It was an absolute blast to ski with him…and the best part was watching the other kids encourage him, and want to ski alongside him.

One perk of skiing Sundance (by way of passes from Chris Clifford) was that we got free zip line runs.
Scout and Navy both did it, and they both loved it!
Navy actually had to wear her ski boots to be heavy enough to take the run.
It ended up being the funnest day — and it reminded me of how fun my little family all together is!

Day two of skiing was at Snowbasin.
Although Dash looked bummed to go, he was totally excited to ski again — and this time with his favorite cousin — Christian!
The first run up, we took the gondola up and got out to freezing cold wind and pretty decent terrain to get down.  As I looked back at Dash, he was just trying to get down, but he was in pretty miserable conditions for a new skier who is just a little 5 year old boy. As I waited for him to inch up to me, he had tears coming out his eyes, and looked so sad.  But when he got to me, he looked up and said, “Mom, LUCKY ME that I get to go skiing.”

Is there ever a more perfect boy?
NO!
Lucky ME!
It was the best “lucky me” I have ever heard from one of my kids!
The skiing was really fun that day too — and was especially fun to do alongside Seth’s family.

The rest of the trip was filled with cousins, Tristen’s house, Nonnie’s cooking, and good old Utah fun!
After the “Lucky Me” story from Dash, my second favorite story was when Micah found some rock hounding outside of Park City.  When we got to it, there was a hike into it in three feet of snow.  It was pretty fun to try to find cool rocks, but it got cold and wet on us.  When we were walking back, Pippi was having a rough one.  She didn’t want to walk, and I was almost all the way to the car.  Right as I was going to turn back, I turned around to see Scout walking with Pippi on his shoulders.  He carried her the whole way back that was quite far.  He kept sinking in the snow…but he never dropped her once.  It was a sweet site to see….and an awesome Hero Story from Scout!
I love the quick trip to Utah that has become one of our traditions.  I especially love that Tristen lives there and gives us a great place to stay.  And I fell in love with Dash all over again, as I watched him triumph and become a great little skier!

Navy’s Paper Doll

img_3196-2017-02-16-at-08-30-04.jpg
Navy’s heritage project in school this year ended with her making a personal heritage paper doll.
I thought her karate-kicking/kilt-wearing paper doll was spot on!

Tennis Buds

Wednesdays are a favorite day for my kids.
They get tennis with their buddies…and then usually earn Harbor Pizza after!
It’s my favorite weekday too.
The cleaners come, and Harbor Pizza keeps the mess out of my kitchen!

Valentine’s Gifts

From Micah…

From Lindsey…

Some may think that a breakfast burrito is kind of a rip off…but wheat they don’t know is that it is from his favorite place two cities over, with his favorite hot sauce!

Valentine’s Box

In honor of tradition — Navy wanted a rad Valentine box.  We thought and thought about it.  We had a few ideas, but when we were walking the dollar store, and saw these flower-shaped bowls, we thought flowerpot.
img_6936-2017-02-13-at-23-15-27.jpg
Here is Micah putting the finishing touches on it…
img_6943-2017-02-13-at-23-24-29.jpg
And here is the final product!
Navy was in love — and the Valentines had a perfect home in the top flower.

Even though she was acting coy while taking it in to school, she was actually so stoked to be taking in such a masterpiece!
Nice work Micah, Tim, and Navy.

Scout’s Bed

img_6924-2017-02-11-at-00-20-23.jpg
When both of the coveted spots in Nonnie’s bed are taken, the next best thing is the open spot in Scout’s bed.
Somehow this little twerp got out of her tent in the middle of the night, and ended up right next to her big brother.
I was all for it, until the morning time when Pippi got up when Scout was heading off to school — two hours earlier than usual.
