Nurse Lindsey

As of today, my baby just got over his sinus infection, but is still on antibiotics.  Micah has the flu/sinus junk.  Trilby is on week two of the flu.  And most importantly….my mom has been sick for 3 weeks.  All I have to say is…thank goodness I haven’t had it.  And thank goodness the rest of the winter should be sick free….or let’s hope it is anyway!  But I will make an interesting observation…out of everyone who is sick, Micah is probably the least sick but the most verbal about being sick.  It reminds me of the time when I was about 8 months pregnant.  Starting at month 2, I had horrible indigestion EVERY SINGLE DAY!  Like, wake up in my sleep with acid in my mouth indegestion.  Well, Micah came in to bed one night and told me something was really, really wrong with him!  He had a burning throat, and it felt like his dinner was stuck in his throat and never went down.  I explained that it was indigestion, the same thing I had experienced for the last 6 months.  He told me, “NO BABE…there is NO WAY you have what I have…this has to be something different!”  I told him when he woke up from a dead sleep and had to run to the bathroom to throw up, he would come close to what I have had for the last half of a year.  He was convinced that his indigestion was much worse than mine….I was convinced he was a big wimp! So in the end….my observation is this…..girls are MUCH tougher than boys when it comes to being sick!

Record Keeping

Scout has been saying MAMA for about two weeks.  He was about 8 months and 1 week old.  He also has been SUPER cranky for the last two weeks…due to his third tooth.  (Notice the interesting timing on starting to be cranky….the exact same time we started to move).  The classic thing about his tooth — he has his two bottom teeth.  We knew another one or two were coming, but instead of his front teeth, or even his vampire teeth (like my nephew Camden)…he got only one - the one just to the left of his front tooth!  It looks really funny, and Micah gave him the nickname of snaggletooth.

Moving is for the birds!

Since the week before Christmas, I have been in the thros of moving.  Let’s just say….it has been fast, exhausting and overwhelming!  BUT….I do see the light at the end of the tunnel!  YEAH!

8 months strong!

img_0473.JPG

It is really hard to imagine that it has been 8 months since Scout was born!  I can hardly believe how quickly the time has gone.  He still hasn’t started crawling, probably due to the fact that he is never on the ground for more than 1 minute.  He is constantly talking jibberish, although Micah is positive that he really is trying to say specific things, but can’t get the right words out.  He says Dada, and has said what sounds like “ball” a few times.  I am working on him with “Mama”, and my mom is always trying to get “Nonnie” out of him.

He is literally a perfect baby, cries almost never!  If he is hungry or tired, he will clue me in, but that is about it.  He is constantly eating.  He has a bowl of oatmeal in the morning that is as big as the one I fix up for his dad.  He finishes it without any hesitation.  He has a few bottles throughout the day, alongside two or three more meals of whatever I am eating, mushed up.  Scout is a total begger!  Whenever he sees someone sticking anything in their mouth, he gets totally mad until that person shares.  Not because he is hungry, but because he never wants to be left out.  Micah and I think he is our little party animal.  No matter when or where, he is always up for a bunch of people around him.

My favorite part of the day is when Scout first wakes up in the morning.  He screams at me until I feed him his bottle.  After he finishes, we play together for about an hour or so.  He adores me, and just cracks up at everything I do.  I especially love it when I sing to him.  He eventually joins in and sings right along with me, to the point that he squeezes his fists together and his face turns bright red as he screams the song.  Sometimes I wonder if he is just having a fit, but the second I stop, he stops on cue.  Neither of us has a really good voice, but we sure like singing together!

Micah’s favorite part of the day is at night.  After he gets home, and we have had dinner, he plays with Scout for an hour or so before bedtime.  Scout is in love with his daddy.  If Micah walks into a room, and Scout hears his voice, he gives himself whiplash trying to find his daddy.  When they play, Scout gets the giggles the whole time.

I am one lucky mom to have this nice boy.  Eight months has gone by too fast, but I am SO pleased to say that I feel like I am spending my time with him wisely.  During General Conference, I heard a spectacular analogy about doing things “good”, “better”, and “best”, and I have tried my hardest to spend “best” time with my baby.  I love you buddy!

Family Fooling!

I went crazy with the Sharpie again, and created quite the characters!  Lucky that I have a cool family that all just thought it was funny!

BYE BYE!

My mom has been trying to get Scout to wave his arm bye bye for a week or so. Today, at 7 months and 1 week, he finally responded to her! Nice job big boy!

Dadadadadada Dadadadada

Scout turned 7 months old, and has turned into a chatterbox.  He goes all day just saying dadadadada dadadada dadadadada.  The only time he stops is when I call my sisters to show off my little talker, and he turns into a mute.  Micah is in heaven that he is always calling out for him.  I can’t wait for him to start saying mamamama!

Christmas Kick Off #2!

Scummy and I started a tradition last year with a Christmas Kick Off Party each December (or November if Tacky has a huge play he is in charge of!). This year it was at my house, and everyone had to wear their PJ’s. Nothing is better than being completely comfortable at a party! The turn out was great, the food everyone brought was delicious (it had to start with the same letter as your last name…such as the Barbers brought “bacon wrapped little wieners” and the Tuckers brought “Tamales”), our white elephant gift exchange was classic, and our game was hilarious.
