Our wards split, and we miss a bunch of people. The kids and I also wanted to thank a bunch of people who were in our old ward, so we decided to make them a treat and take them to their houses. So on day one, we baked a whole lot of “We Miss You” cookies.
Here they are on a clean counter before they get packaged.
After they cooled, we sealed them for the night.
The next day we made a cream cheese frosting and put it in a separate container so our friends could still read the message.
Then we put it all in a box and went delivering.
We hit up old teachers, old friends and especially our old Bishop.
What I thought would be a two hour expedition ended up going almost four hours. But it was a blast to talk and catch up with some of our friends. But poor Scout, who asked me to carry him in to the last two houses because his leg was getting sore, literally fell asleep in my arms. He was completely OUT. And then Icka, who was equally exhausted, went in the other direction, and was wired by the end.
It was a fun project with the kids, and made all involved happy.
The end.
This handsome boy has always been a really great sleeper. He regularly sleeps through the night. But the last few nights, he has whiled a bit during the day — but also during the night. And on top of that, he has been sucking his sleeves and fingers a whole lot. He’s also been talking as much as ever, but instead of his usual upbeat conversations, he has been doing a lot of complaining with the saddest little expressions on his face.
So I added it all up, and I think he might be getting his first teeth.
I guess time will tell if my sleuth work is right.
But if I might offer my last bit of evidence — when I give him Tylenol, he happies up pretty quickly.
Have I convinced you yet?
The yellow table was in hiding the whole time Scout was in his cast. The poor guy couldn’t sit in it. But now that his legs are back…it has been a permanent fixture in our kitchen. Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE the yellow table?
It is the best!
Navy got into her make up.
And went for the uni-brow/Freida look.
I think she nailed it.
Dash has always thought I was hilarious.
But just recently, he has caught on to how funny Nonnie is.
And apparently she is telling a REALLY great joke.
(Nonnie gave Dash a really big compliment. She said that he reminds her of Trey as a baby. And I have to tell you that Trey has been the pinnacle of cutest and happiest babies. So kudos to you Dash.)
I feel like I have written a LOT about Icka lately.
And I have because this girl has been on a roll!

So the latest….
My kids have always loved toast. Their favorite is by far sourdough, but almost any bread will do. And if they are really lucky, they get cinnamon toast. Well, this has happened a few times, but I happened to have my camera with me the most recent time. Navy scoots the bar stool over to the butter dish. (After she has gotten into the bread drawer and gotten a knife.) And then she goes to town.
And I mean REALLY goes to town. I think by the end, she has half a stick of butter on her bread. The time she made her own bread and came upstairs with it (a big no no), I was cleaning butter off of everywhere and everything!
This was after I took a massive chink off the top. Don’t worry I did more cleaning up after this.
She was moving off the chair because Scout saw the delicacy and wanted his own. Notice him in the bread drawer in the back.
Both ended up at the kids table. Scout’s was beautifully buttered. Navy’s was atrocious. And as I went to snap this shot, Navy covered her eyes. Because her dyslexia gets the best of her, she thinks if she covers her eyes….my camera and I can’t see anything. Well, she is wrong. But her perfectly placed bowl did the trick.
(I love Scout looking at her in this picture with a smile, because that is what we do all day long. We look at her and laugh. And often times, circle our ear with our finger indicating that she is crazy — and then laugh together.)
Well, we have had regular legs for over three weeks. This boy is doing it all. In this picture, he just completing a jump. But I was out with him the other day, and I had a friend witness him. She said, “Your boy is amazing. He has the best attitude of anyone I’ve ever met.” She was right on the money. As he was running, jumping, spinning and hopping for her, he smiled the whole time. He never complained in his cast, and he hasn’t since.
He still walks with a limp, due to his 2 cm of shortening. The doctors shorten it on purpose because the increased blood supply to the injured leg will make it grow too much, which would make it too long. So they make it shorter so that by the time the heeling process is over, the legs will be more even. Apparently, in about 6 months, this should all be history. 2 cm is in the okay range, but we are hoping for 1 cm or less.
But in the meantime — my boy with the very best attitude keeps trucking along.
Navy finally had enough CTR Bucks to buy something from the store. When I asked her what she wanted, she said, “THE ROSE SOAPS!” Apparently, she had been waiting for those for quite some time.
So she first handed one over to Bella and told her she could use it in her bath. And then she gave a few to Scout. But she reserved the center hot pink one for herself. When I finally had her in her next bath - post purchase - she made sure to carefully take her “beautiful pink rose” in with her.
I turned my back for two seconds to turn around and see this mess!

If anyone noticed in the previous store pictures, I have another box of these.
Who wants them?
When I was a kid, I loved to jump on the poppers from packages.
So it is so fun to see Scout and Navy love the same.
But Icka has a special ability to pop and intervene Nonnie’s calls all at the same time!
Icka got banned from everything Bella after she ruined the 100th thing. Bella only asks her to keep her little grubby fingers out of her drawers. And you know that translates to Navy “GO THROUGH EVERY DRAWER POSSIBLE BECAUSE THERE MUST BE SOME GOOD STUFF!” I get it. It was the same way I was as a child.
But Icka didn’t take it very seriously when Bella drew a line and told Icka she could never cross it. She ran in and out just tease Bella. I was the worst mom because I thought it was hilarious and kept laughing. I knew not to, but I couldn’t wipe the smile from my face so I had to cover it. So Icka did it over and over and got many threats. So finally Bella had to chase her down and really lay down the law.
As you can see on Navy’s face, it really seems to be working!
Yeah right.
