Pip’s Blowout

img_3053-2014-01-05-at-14-19-44.jpg
When I was spot treating this outfit before soaking it in the wash, I wondered aloud, “Should I just throw the blessed thing away?”
With poops all the way up the front and back of her…looks like Pippi’s prune juice is working!

3 Months!

img_1150-2014-01-07-at-10-34-33.jpg
The Pips is getting BIG!
I can’t believe that she is already been in our lives for three months.
And in honor of her birthday — she gave us a present.
It was a present any mom would die over!
This little girl slept for 12 straight hours last night!
She was down at 8pm and up this morning at 8am.
-
Happy Birthday to you…cha cha cha!
Happy Birthday to me…hip hip hooray!

Zoo Passes

Megan gave our family zoo passes, and we are stoked!
We went today, and had the best time.
Partly because it was totally free, partly because it was our whole family, and partly because our kids are at really fun ages to go to the zoo.

img_3003-2014-01-04-at-16-16-28.jpg
Look at the little joey in my “pocket”.
img_3011-2014-01-04-at-17-20-07.jpg
The hippos were the highlight of our day.
We had front row seats to a baby hippo swimming all over the place.
The kids were so excited about it, and I was too — as I fed the Pips in my pocket.
img_3023-2014-01-04-at-19-17-52.jpg
My kids were totally excited to see the “Polar Bear Plunge” since we had our very own plunge a few nights before.
img_3029-2014-01-04-at-19-22-57.jpg
This exhibit is new, and the kids had a blast playing on all of the different things that were in it.
img_3018-2014-01-04-at-18-41-43.jpg
We got there late in the day, and our kids were pretty cold.
Thank goodness that Micah made me bring sweatshirts.
I had thought about it, but literally thought “oh…a little cold will just make our kids tough.”
Good thing he said something because it was COLD!
img_3039-2014-01-04-at-19-39-22.jpg
Scout was dying to go on the overhead tram, and I was glad we did since the walk back for Micah and the Pips was about 20 minutes long.
Since we did the tram in the dark, my kids were loving seeing the airplanes fly at our same level, and all of the bright Christmas lights that are still up everywhere.
img_3043-2014-01-04-at-19-46-28.jpg
All three of these kids were perfect.
They were all polite, good, nice to one another and didn’t beg for a thing to buy!

Dear Brockbanks,
You could not have gotten us a better present!
Love, Us.

Date to the Farm

Dash got a call that he was invited to the farm.
img_2996-2014-01-02-at-14-46-23.jpg
Although he wasn’t feeling too hot, he got all gussied up for his date.
img_3002-2014-01-02-at-15-24-01.jpg
And then got fresh with his cousin when she arrived.

Dr. Appointments

img_1055-2014-01-02-at-10-47-16.jpg
My poor mom has had some crazy eye problems lately.
She woke up with double vision after three days of a headache.
We spent one entire day at the ER getting tests done — including a cat scan to rule out a bunch of really scary things.
Thank goodness she doesn’t have anything like big cell arthritis that leaves you blind, or a tumor that was pressing on her optical nerve.
We still don’t have it totally figured out, but she is scheduled for an MRI of the brain to get closer to the answer.
Bu tin the meantime, she has been diagnosed with MCNP.
Basically her fourth muscle to the eye isn’t receiving the blood flow it needs and has stopped working for the time being.
Meanwhile, she has had several eye appointments that I have driven/taken her to.
And look who has been tagging along:
img_1111-2014-01-02-at-11-45-35.jpg
The WORST doctor visit accompaniers EVER!
img_1114-2014-01-02-at-11-46-16.jpg
This was not staged!
They were horrible!
img_1109-2014-01-02-at-11-44-55.jpg
Scout finally caught my drift and grabbed a pen and paper.
“Sorry Mom for being naughty at the doctor’s office today.  Love, Scout”
At the top is a picture of Navy and him.
He is saying, “Yes mom!” in his word bubble.
Navy is saying, “no mom!” in hers.
Pretty accurate.
img_1116-2014-01-02-at-11-50-28.jpg
He wrote on….
“Thank you mom for liking my sorry note mom.  You are the best mom in the world.  I love you mom.  Love, Scout.”
Can I just say that Scout was destined to be the oldest!
The kid has a heart.
-
Needless to say, I dumped those dudes for my mom’s next appointment.
img_1126-2014-01-02-at-15-53-59.jpg
Only this sweet little girl got to attend.
And it was fun to have a child get oohed and aahed over.
Much better than getting glares from the others in the waiting room.
And as my mom showed the Pips off to everyone, I filled out her paperwork.
img_1118-2014-01-02-at-15-43-49.jpg
Good thing she couldn’t see where I put under easy going, “unless it comes to a clean house.”
-
Madre — I am thinking the eyes have a real problem.
But with the headache I got after your doctor’s appointments, I am pretty sure my kids are causing your head to hurt!

Girl’s Night

It worked out tonight, that Navy and I were all alone.
I know she has been needing some attention from me, so I welcomed the opportunity to do something fun with her.
We decided to do a beauty school with the new doll head she got for Christmas.
We styled the hair, brushed it all out, put different clips in it, and then we set it for it to get curled over night.
img_2985-2014-01-01-at-20-41-03.jpg
And then I set Navy’s in curlers to match her doll.
img_2986-2014-01-01-at-21-05-10.jpg
After curling their hair, she decided that she wanted to make some bows for her doll’s hair.
So we spent an hour in the wrap room making some.
img_2991-2014-01-01-at-21-06-49.jpg
And she stuck them all in the “bow bag” we made together.
-
After all of our fun, I laid in bed with her and read her a Pippi Longstocking book she got for Christmas.
Then we cuddled and she fell asleep in about a minute flat.
It was one of our best nights in a long time.
-
I was interested to see if the curlers were going to bug her overnight, but she woke up with no complaints.
img_2992-2014-01-02-at-10-21-25.jpg
Then she took them out, and voila!
She must have looked at her hair in the mirror — twenty times!
It was so cute to see her so proud of our work.
But then we had to go somewhere, and I had to make a decent style out of the crazy curls.
img_2995-2014-01-02-at-10-25-37.jpg
Good thing I am a pro at knots!
-
I was so glad to have had our girl’s night.  Like I said, I knew she needed it.  But what I didn’t know was…I needed it as much as she did.  It was fun and relaxing, and a blast getting to do something that Navy was so excited about.  But of everything that happened during the night, when she leaned over to hug and kiss me, and then say, “Mom, this is the best night ever!” about four different times, I felt like I was doing what I am on Earth to do — creating happy and good children.

New Year’s Eve ‘13

This year, we brought in the New Year right!
We had spent the whole day at Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house watching football, playing games and eating it up.  Then when the New York ball was about 30 minutes from dropping, I rushed our family home.  As soon as we got here, Micah turned on the jacuzzi, I got my camera, Micah and the kids got pots and pans, and we started counting down.
img_2966-2013-12-31-at-21-41-49.jpg
My kids look forward to banging pots and pans every year, and they went nuts at “midnight”.
img_2972-2013-12-31-at-21-43-59.jpg
img_2974-2013-12-31-at-21-44-35.jpg
img_2975-2013-12-31-at-21-45-46.jpg
When we got outside to bang, the kids all jumped in their new cars to drive and bang.
img_2977-2013-12-31-at-21-58-12.jpg
Then Micah put them in the stroller for our neighborhood parade.
img_2979-2013-12-31-at-22-10-32.jpg
But Scout drove instead of walked and talked Navy into riding along.
img_2980-2013-12-31-at-22-23-23.jpg
When we got home, they stayed outside to drive and bang while I prepared hot chocolate.
Everyone had their own cups ready to go for our new tradition we are starting to bring in the New Year….
img_2981-2013-12-31-at-22-27-42.jpg
The Polar Plunge!
With our clothes on we all jumped into the freezing pool.
It was 50 degrees and felt as cold as it sounds.
Scout was a trooper.
Navy was a little hesitant.
I talked to Dash beforehand, saying, “Dash, you are going to get really cold, but as soon as we are finished, you get to get really warmy in the Jacuzzi.”
He was AMAZING!
He didn’t do anything but smile and go along with it all.
After our freezing plunge, we all swam really fast into the hot tub and then hung out for about an hour.
We swam in our clothes, and I think my kids were having the time of their lives!
Scout said, “This is the awesomist thing I have ever done!”
I kind of agree.
Swimming in the hot tub with your family in the dead of the winter cold — is almost the awesomist thing I have ever done!
Happy New Year!
May 2014 be the best yet.
I’m crossing my fingers!

Stronger

img_1051-2013-12-31-at-16-15-42.jpg

I am used to really strong babies.  Scout rolled over at four days old.  Dash wowed the nurses with his strong neck in the NICU.  And Navy could headbutt me to tears at a very young age.  But this little Pips is fragile.  She is still little — 8 lbs, and she has easily been my most delicate.  It has been several weeks — probably since she was two months — that she has been holding her head up strong and proud.  She loves her tummy time, and she is constantly arching up on her hands to look around and see the world.  But nothing gets her up and about faster than if she hears the voice of one of her favorites.  So when she was on her tummy this afternoon, and Scout laid in front of her to talk his sweet talk to her, guess what little strong girl immediately arched her way up to make eyes with her brother.

Charmer

img_2909-2013-12-27-at-11-11-01.jpg
This boy is so charming it is sickening.  He has about everyone who knows him wrapped around his little finger.  Including me!  But as the mother, I still have to pay down the law from time to time.  Especially when he comes straight up to hit me (or someone else), and has the word “sorry” coming out of his mouth before his hand makes it back to his body.  It is naughty, but pretty funny at the same time.
-
The other thing he has done a few times lately is regurgitate naughty things his older siblings say.
Such as the time I asked him toady to “do a little dance”, and he said, “NEVER”!
Thank you Navy.
Or the times he sings the Christmas songs with the obnoxious lyrics.
Thanks Scout.
The times he reaches out to give someone something, and he says, “Just tricking!”
Thanks Navy.
Or the times he says “Yike this one” which means “I don’t like this one.”
Thanks picky Scout.
Or the times he says, “Oh crap!”
Thanks my other child — Nonnie!
-
This kid will always charm his way out of everything, but I am hoping to nip most of the naughtiness in the bud while he still thinks I have some authority in this home.

Candy Cane Hot Chocolate

Krispy left some tiny candy cane cups for the kids.
We have been planning to put hot chocolate in them for a few weeks, but haven’t until tonight.
img_2952-2013-12-29-at-20-02-31.jpg
Tonight was the night, and we filled them with homemade hot chocolate and homemade whipped cream.
img_2956-2013-12-29-at-20-04-41.jpg
Scout liked the first drink and then said it was a bit too minty.
img_2959-2013-12-29-at-20-04-59.jpg
Navy is a fan of all things sweet.
img_2960-2013-12-29-at-20-05-09.jpg
And this boy is a fan of all things edible.

Candy Cane Hot Chocolate….Check.
