Scout’s Donut Class Party

Scout’s class has been due for a party for a month or two.
(That wedding really did me in!)
So I finally planned for today to be the day.

I had it all arranged and planned….a scavenger hunt followed by a donut eating competition.
And come to find out….it was the most ridiculously appropriate party, because it is officially “National Donut Day”!

And needless to say…the party was a hit.
I think I will be celebrating National Donut Day every year with a party!

Grandparents Day

img_2469-2014-06-06-at-10-26-05.jpg
Good thing Scout’s school sent a pre-recorded message that I heard playing over our answering machine this evening.
Because Grandparents Day just wouldn’t be the same without his Nonnie.

The Commentator

img_4740-2014-06-28-at-09-51-23.jpg
I am pretty sure this kid has a solid future in sports reporting.
He would be a decent color commentator, but his real talent is in the play-by-play commentating.
Whenever I am with him, he literally play-by-play commentates everything we are doing.
For example:
“We going to da store.  We buying some milk for our bwekfast. You turn on the radio, mom?  I wike the radio.  Dis a great song!  It is ‘Cry Baby’.  Pippi is da cry baby.  Not me.  I a big boy.  You see dat?!?!  Is a woo woo. (ambulance or fire truck)  Yook at dat!  Is a monster truck!  You see dat!  Das is a bird fwying.”
And that is the first 20 seconds of our drive to the store.
You get the picture.

Reading Love

img_2459-2014-06-04-at-14-39-10.jpg
Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I pick Navy up after her hour of reading time with Ms. Belem.  I am usually there before they are, but on the few occasions I have been late, Navy sits in front of Ms. Belem and she gets her hair done.  It is so cute to see them together.  We’ll miss her when school is out.

Cheeseburgers

img_2456-2014-06-04-at-14-03-50.jpg
Every time I am in a drive through, Dash yells from his seat….”Get me a cheeseburger!”
That is foreign to me, since my kids only like a few things from any drive thru — and none have ever liked burgers.
So on a rare occasion, I will get him one.
Here he is devouring one.
He is savoring the pickle….that he loves.
He said to me, “Mama…what dis?  I wuv dis!”
And the napkins in the picture?
I told him not to make a mess, so he grabbed all of the napkins and surrounded his burger to keep it clean.
I love my afternoons in the car with this little dude!

Big Girl Crying

img_4571-2014-06-04-at-12-35-36.jpg
This girl was having a meltdown.
NayNay picked her up and put her against her legs, and I had to snap a picture because she seemed so big to me!
Pippi….stay little forever!
Crying babies are SO much more appealing than crying kids!

Sign Language

Just a little sign language lesson going on at dinner tonight.

“Plotty” Trained

In college, my friends used a “p-l” in front of any word when it was fake.
(They took the p and l from the word plastic.)
So….for example:
Splenda would be called “plugar” for fake sugar.
Implants would be called “ploobs”.
You get the picture.
And now you hopefully understand why I call what happened today “plotty” training.
img_4569-2014-06-04-at-12-02-23.jpg
I looked over at Dash, and his immediate response was, “Don’t look at me!”
I gave him the spiel.
“If you go on the big boy potty then you get to wear big boy pants like Douty.”
He wasn’t having it.
So I grabbed him and stuck him on the pot.
He was mid-business, which finally ended up in the toilet.
Nothing else happened.
But when he got off, we celebrated and celebrated.
And then he got to flush.
He was pumped, and I even gave him a treat.
He bragged the rest of the day that he had gone on the big boy potty.
But unfortunately, the second half of his business was in his dirty diaper a bit later.
That being said….I’m scratching the “plotty training” and waiting for him to follow in his older sibling’s footsteps.
I’ll wait patiently for him to train himself in one day.
And until then…no more singing and dancing for plastic anything!

California Adventure ‘14

img_2428-2014-06-03-at-11-25-15.jpg
We had our second part of our two day passes, and finally headed out to Disney’s California Adventure today.
It was obviously a great time at the “happiest place on earth”!
Here are the adventures:
img_2421-2014-06-03-at-09-37-25.jpg
One of the few rides we could all go on together.
img_2425-2014-06-03-at-09-53-52.jpg
Scout was hoping to scare Nonnie on this ride.
No such luck.
img_2427-2014-06-03-at-10-10-04.jpg
These kids were always checking out every water source for change.
(Scout may have ended up with about a handful of it.)
img_2430-2014-06-03-at-11-28-34.jpg
This kid!
img_2438-2014-06-03-at-12-31-26.jpg
Scout was living up to the ride’s name on California Screamin’.
img_2435-2014-06-03-at-12-13-56.jpg
Navy was hot, and went for the plunge.
img_2436-2014-06-03-at-12-14-08.jpg
The serious plunge.
img_2442-2014-06-03-at-16-00-31.jpg
Navy was bummed she had to sit next to the single rider on “Cars”.
Look at her scooting all the way over from him, and she kind of just eyed him the whole time!
img_2432-2014-06-03-at-12-08-12.jpg
Dash loved, loved, loved the carousel.
img_2448-2014-06-03-at-17-51-31.jpg
Pippi cruised all day without a peep.
She was ideal until about 6:00 pm.
img_2444-2014-06-03-at-17-25-13.jpg
Nonnie took Dash on a special date to the parade.
img_2450-2014-06-03-at-18-57-37.jpg
Then we headed to a huge jungle gym area where the kids played for an hour and a half straight.
I let Pippi down, and she was SO HAPPY!
She is obsessed with being on the ground to crawl and maneuver.
img_2452-2014-06-03-at-18-58-19.jpg
Here is her latest move — the “starfish stand”.
She is actually really effective at getting places.  She gets up on all fours, then propels forward and repeats.  She gets across rooms that way, and is becoming very mobile!
img_2455-2014-06-03-at-19-16-44.jpg
It’s dark to see, but when I had her sitting, the poor girl face planted.
She was obviously getting tired from all of her exercise.

The day was great, and we can’t wait to be back…..maybe next year?

Protege

img_4567-2014-06-02-at-20-06-41.jpg
Scout put Dash to bed tonight.
It was so cute how he crawled into bed with Dash and told him to suck his fingers.
(I do the same, because the two finger suck relaxes Dash instantly.)
Then he told him a Pet story, sand “song of a bird” to him, said prayers with him, gave him his monster truck, turned on his sound machine, turned out the lights and left.
Nice work Scout.
You are quite the protege.
And you’ve got the job!!!
