As I went to kiss Scout before I went to bed, I noticed him in quite the comfy position!
With all of his blankets around his legs, I think he was just trying to stay warm!
I loved the book, and so Micah found these tickets to a special screening of Unbroken for me.
Merry Christmas to me!
It was the funnest night!
We had dinner, then went to the screening, then the best part — we got to ask questions of the children of Louis Zamperini and the producer of the film.
It was awesome, fascinating and fun all rolled into one!
Micah always gives me the best presents, but this is at the top of my list!
Dash and I made some puppets this morning.
It was perfect, because he entertained Pippi while she was eating her eggs…which allowed me to get the dishwasher emptied without extra, unsolicited, help.
On our way to go look at Christmas lights with the Seastrands, we stopped at the most amazing sunset for a quick kid pic.
Just a freezing cold Saturday night out at the soccer field.
#28 was fun to watch.
While #1 and #3 were having fun with the other kids.
#4 was in the car sleeping.
And #2 — she was MIA.
Scout is excited to start basketball! I am too, seeing as it is down the hill from us. Here he is at his first game. He is the guy with his shorts pulled up really high…kind of Erkle style. After the game, I think any parent is anxious to hear if their kid liked the sport, and I am pleased to report, he loved it!
My kids never ask for something specific for Christmas — or for birthdays for that matter. But this year, after a few screenings of The Little Rascals, Dash has told everyone he knows that he wants a Go-Kart for Christmas. When we ask him if he wants a go-kart to be like Spanky, he furiously replies, “No…I want to be just like Butch!” (The bad guy.)
-
When my dad caught wind of this, he immediately sent in for a Go-Kart kit that he and Dash could put together. My dad had big dreams of Dash helping saw, nail and talk over the piecing together of the kart.
-
REALITY STRUCK!
-
My dad sawed, nailed and pieced…all while Dash knocked over, bumped, and stole everything. That being said, my Dad patiently went through the building process and made it complete.
And then he primed it, before sending it to Santa’s Workshop to be painted.
Dash is beyond excited to get the finished project!
And I think my dad really did enjoy the crazy time he spent with Dash.
Do you know what I am going to enjoy?
Dash’s footprints that cover our driveway from when my dad had the whole kart primed, then turned his back for one second, and turned back around to see a footprint path up and over the kart and down the driveway!
Dash — I think you got your wish.
You are just like Butch!
Dash and I spent the morning putting together the Christmas Train.
To say that he is mesmerized is a complete understatement.
But he finally broke from his stare to let some of his buddies join in on the fun.
It’s true…Christmas time is magical…especially for little boys with their first train set.
Dash could melt anyone with the sweet things he says. Two from today…

My mom always tells my kids that she “looked all over Heaven” for each one.
So this morning when Dash was cuddling her, she said, “Dash….I looked all over Heaven for you.”
He quickly responded with the obvious, “Oh…I was just in my bed!”
–
Today after his three hour nap, he said, “Mom…I had the greatest good night sleep!”
–
See what I mean!
Melted.

And lately, whenever he coughs or sneezes, he looks at me with his big eyes and says, “Mom, I don’t feel so good. Do you want to cuddle me?”
Melted into a puddle.
It is hard to focus in on a girl in motion, but this little girl was bustin’ a move because I was singing.
She is hilarious.
If there is any music whatsoever, this girl is bopping or twirling or jiggling.
You should see her at church during the musical numbers….she stands up against the pew, looking at everyone behind her, and sways her little heart out.
It’s kind of to die for.
