Skylar is running for Senior Class President, and needed some darling actors for her social media blast.

Skillz — with those actors, I think you’ve got it in the bag.

Garden of Misfits

We took a quick trip to the garden to see what our soil looked like for the upcoming season.  My kids love to lizard hunt while we are there, so I wasn’t surprised when Scout brought me a lizard.  I was surprised that it only took him about 8 seconds to get it.  I still hadn’t even gotten Pippi out of her car seat.
img_6030-2015-03-21-at-13-09-03.jpg
I was rather impressed, because it is usually Navy who gets her hands dirty first.
img_6032-2015-03-21-at-13-09-48.jpg
He passed his lizard on to Pippi, and then I started noticing that something might be wrong as it balanced on its side on her thumb.
img_6034-2015-03-21-at-13-10-05.jpg
then Dr. Doolittle showed us it was a dead lizard.
Scout then said, “Yeah….I couldn’t believe how easy it was to catch.  It didn’t even move!”
So we found a resting place for that lizard and moved on to our plot.

Where Navy found a butterfly.
But upon a closer look, that poor thing had an injured wing.

I’m not sure what is going on here, but I am really hoping for good, in-tact veggies and fruit.
None of this misfit stuff.

Navy’s Project

While Micah was at his dad’s house, perfecting the pinewood derby car, he taught Navy and Scout that with a vice, you can bend money.
They were really intrigued.
Navy was so intrigued, that she decided to give it a go.

Unfortunately, she gave it a go with all of Grandpa’s spare change he keeps in his garage.

Pinewood Derby ‘15

We were all SO excited to support Scout at his first ever Pinewood Derby!

Here is the car that he and his dad spent quite some time on.  They sanded, painted, cut and weighed.
Can you tell that Scout has some nerves to deal with!
img_6018-2015-03-20-at-17-43-08.jpg
Noah Goodsell weighed them in, and they were almost perfect.
Notice the “Turbo Booster” spray that Micah brought to get into the heads of other competitors.

Clearly, Scout had some fierce competitors.
img_6021-2015-03-20-at-18-20-06.jpg
Here he is with the other boys, getting instructions.
They each raced four times, and the cumulative high score would win.

I’m proud to say that Scout and Seth and Cade all were in the top five!
They announced the top three, and we were leaving.  But then someone told us to go and check out the scores on the computer, and we were number four!
Scout was really excited, and the night was a success!
Good work Scout!
But let’s be honest….great work Micah!

Exhausted

img_6009-2015-03-20-at-16-35-37.jpg
Although this picture is a reenactment, Scout made me go into Dash’s room to see something amazing.  He had gone to sleep on top of his bed for his nap, and woke up on the ground like this.  We are guessing that he fell out of the bed, and was so exhausted from a week of being spoiled rotten by his Bella and Nonnie, he didn’t jar.  But it’s a good thing it didn’t jar him, because that boy needed some sleep.  Already this morning, he has had a few only-child, spoiled moments, that none of us approved of.

Generous

Navy is my favorite thing lately.
How cute is this story….
I was in Michaels, adn saw a really pretty piece of shiny silver paper on the sale table.  I knew my little arts and crafts girl would love it, so I got it for her.  When I gave it to her, she gasped because she thought it was so pretty.  I figured she would puffy paint on it, or cut some hearts out of it.  But I was wrong.  Instead, she tore that piece of paper into about 60 pieces, and gave a piece out to anyone else she thought might like some.
img_6005-2015-03-20-at-12-49-36.jpg
She said she was just trying to let everyone have a piece of the pretty paper, so everyone could be happy.
By the end, the pieces were pretty tiny, but she said she had so many friends at school, that she had to make enough.
Then I wanted to go back and buy her 100 more sheets of that pretty paper.

Dash is HOME!

Today is the day that Dash finally comes home.
Our family wasn’t complete without him, and the kids missed him like crazy.
img_5992-2015-03-19-at-22-24-01-1.jpg
So I went really late to the airport to get him.
He was so excited when he saw our car that he started clapping.
img_5994-2015-03-19-at-22-25-45.jpg
Navy begged to go to the airport, but I made her go to bed.  But then surprised her and took her on a special date.  Too bad that by the time we got Dash, she was in la la land, and we couldn’t get her to wake up.
img_5998-2015-03-19-at-23-03-42.jpg
When we got home, Scout groggily woke up to give his brother a hug.
img_7391-2015-03-20-at-06-38-57.jpg
And in the morning, I was dying over the three kids cuddling on the couch together.
You’ve got to love sibling love.
I know I do….and nothing makes me happier as a mom, than seeing it in full force.

Frineds and Foes

img_7386-2015-03-19-at-13-05-59.jpg
As I watch Pippi follow Dash around like he is King Tut, I can’t wait to see their best friendship blossom.
But then I remember Navy following Scout around the same way.
And those best friends have blossomed all right.
Some days into magnificently bright sunflowers, and other days thorny weeds.

Thursday Playdate

img_5980-2015-03-19-at-11-43-07.jpg
Navy was so excited to bring Abigail to this Thursday’s play date.
First stop…Yogurtland.
The big girls got their own table.
img_5981-2015-03-19-at-11-45-28.jpg
While the Pips was with me.
Unfortunately, she isn’t clean enough to get a yogurt, but really loves her sample cup of mini M&M’s.
img_5984-2015-03-19-at-12-00-12.jpg
Then we were off to Whole Foods, where I think every organic/yoga mother looked at me, like the white trash from the other side of the tracks.
And admittedly, I kinda am.

Nate & Scout

Scout truly thinks that Nate is his friend…way before Ka’s friend.
Proof?
Just today, Scout said, “Nate you are like a giant.  And Ka is like a little ant.  So smash her next time you see her, and then get normal size and come play with me.”
See what I mean!
