Photog

I wish I knew what I was doing behind a camera.  But with a decent camera, and good looking subjects, I can usually cheat my way through.  That being said, I told Megan to bring up some clothes, because I wanted to take a few pictures of their family before Bry shaved his head due to chemo.  And then we put together clothes for Ashley’s family to do the same.

And we were all really happy that we did, because they turned out really cute.

Scout’s Baptism

Today was a very exciting day for us, because Scout got to be baptized!

Here is the program that gives a rundown of the day.

He chose Jakey to be the one who baptized him — which was really awesome to see.

And the perfect Uncle Bryan to confirm him.
img_7864-2015-05-23-at-13-02-28.jpg
We had a lot of loved ones able to make it and support Scout.

Including some of his very best friends.

And family.

Scout, we are all very proud of you.  And especially proud of the good boy you have become.
We love you!
And after?
We obviously went to the loudest place on earth — it was quite the juxtaposition — Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor.
It’s tradition, since I went there after my very own baptism 30 years ago!

Bug Collectors

img_6822-2015-05-21-at-19-05-31.jpg
You’ll never guess what caterpillar collector was at it again?
I think she landed 8 this time.

These three were enamored for a really long time by these little guys.

And then Dash realized it was time to skate.

Penmanship

I got this Email from Scout’s teacher today:
-
“Hello Lindsey,

Today Scout did an EXCELLENT job during English!  He was on task the entire time and truly enjoyed the assignment.  He not only completed the assignment in class but also used his best handwriting — I haven’t seen his neat writing for a while.  For his in class performance, he went a clip up.

Happy Wednesday!

N. Lee”

-
Obviously I was beyond thrilled!  I read him the EMail.  I celebrated his good work.  He ran to the car after school to tell me he moved up a clip, and the teacher was so happy with him…so obviously we went for a treat.

Just take a look!
I was so impressed, and quite honestly…didn’t know he had it in him to write so nicely.
Nice work Scout!
(But does this mean that all of the times I erased your work, and had you redo it -only to get a little bit nicer chicken scratch- you were conning me the whole time?!?)

Especially

Navy kept asking me how to spell “ik”.
I wasn’t sure why, but told her I thought it would just be i-k….or possibly i-c-k.
img_6800-2015-05-21-at-06-59-19.jpg
Her letter to her school teacher….”You are a good teacher.  When I grow up, I want to be like you…”
And the she asked how to spell “specially”, to finish her letter with “ik specially how nice you are.”

Sicky’s Back!

img_6797-2015-05-20-at-08-21-39.jpg
My sick girl came back for another 30 minute cuddling session.
I’m loving this!
And that little photo bomber in the back.

Smart Phones

img_6793-2015-05-19-at-18-44-30.jpg
Let this picture be the reason my kids will not get smart phones until they are 18!
Or until they can focus on their homework, sports and piano with as much intensity.

Sicky Cuddling

img_6836-2015-05-19-at-09-47-43.jpg
For a girl who never cuddles, it was a welcome surprise when she crawled into my lap, and actually stayed there for 30 minutes.
I might be the rare mom who loves when my kids are sick.
They are extra cuddly, and build up antibodies all at the same time.

“Fragile”

Dash is always coming up with big words.  Sometimes I wonder where he heard them, but being amongst a bunch of adults all of the time probably explains it.
Just yesterday, Micah called me to tell me that Dash had made a tall tower out of Legos.  And when he carried it really carefully, he said, “Nobody touch this!  It is very fragile.”
I guess he has come a long way from the “Captain Caveman” days that Micah named.

Pairs

In my family, my kids came in pairs.
We have Scout and Navy, and Dash and Pippi.
Or we have Scout and Dash, and Navy and Pippi.
But no matter how these four are paired up…most of the time each pair is up to no good.
img_6787-2015-05-18-at-18-43-58.jpg
Like when these two were making the biggest raucous because he insisted on carrying Pippi everywhere.
img_6785-2015-05-18-at-18-42-43.jpg
Or when these two were riding the escalator in my favorite childhood way.
Please note that these two pairs were being unruly at the very same time…down to the second.
I know this, because when I went over to talk Dash into letting Pippi walk, I turned to see a few elderly people shaking their head.  And when I looked ten feet past them, I saw my little darlings.
