Pippi was so excited to be the star of the week in school this week! She and I made this very important poster, and she had some big opinions on what should be on the poster. When we turned it in, her teacher said, “Wow Pippi! I think this is the best poster we have had all year!” To that, Pippi was pleased as punch.
Pippi is Star of the Week
Come Follow Me
The new Come Follow Me study we do each Sunday morning is great. My kids have become the pros at looking up scriptures, and I love hearing Dash sound out the words from the scriptures when it is his turn to read. I have said this a million times, but morning scripture study is my favorite time of the day. We have had some of our greatest conversations, funniest moments, and meaningful moments in those wee hours. I am just glad we are adding Sunday mornings into the mix.
Too Old?
When I walked into the bathroom to see all four in the tub…I didn’t know if I should be laughing or shocked or both! I was both! But they weren’t laughing when I took the camera out for a picture to send to Bella with the caption “Too Old?”
I thought the communal bath was way in our past, but Scout started in it, then Dash “was freezing”, then Navy said it was supposed to be HER bath not theirs — so she showed them, and Pippi wanted to be part of the party.
I think communal baths are in our past…but parties and competition are always my kid’s style.
Waterboy
Scout lost SCUM, and his consequence was to be the water boy for everyone upstairs while we watched TV all night. We were laughing the whole time, until he concocted his big plan.
The joke was on us when he came up with six cups of ice water, and a full pitcher for refills. And cut up lemons. And he asked if I needed mint from the garden, or would I be okay without it.
HAHAHA!
Nice job preemptively striking.
Chinese Essay
Just a rad girl writing a rad essay, that I can’t read a lick of.
How do I know it’s rad…it is almost a guarantee she gets an A+ on it, because that’s the kind of work she does!
Family Motto
One of my favorite presents I got for Christmas this year, is our family motto framed. My mom had it printed and framed, so we can eliminate the cardboard sign it was originally written on. We hung it today where everyone can see, and it was rad as all of my kids saw it, and were excited to see it as a permanent fixture in the house!
Thanks mom.
Local Snow
The weather has been crazy this year! It has rained more than I have ever known it to rain in southern California. I actually think I heard that we are finally out of the drought we have been in for years. On top of that great news, we have had the most beautiful landscape lately! Every hill is bright green, and the wildflowers are just coming. It will definitely be a #superbloom this year!!! And just the other day, we were floored to see snow from our view! Saddleback mountain is covered with snow, and we are living a four-season life. And I like it.
Tardies
Who would ever guess that the very lackadaisical TK mom, becomes the intense tiger Kindergarten mom.
Poor Pips. Good thing I spoke with her teacher, and she is not too worried about it.
President’s Day 2019
We always head up to Utah for President’s Day weekend, but most often, we don’t get tons of snow. My did the tables turn this year! We had so much snow it was insane! It was so pretty and so fun, but we were nervous to have Pippi ski for her first time ever on a cold snowy day. Well…the god’s were smiling down on us, because we went to Sundance and had the most incredible weather you can imagine!
It was sunny, the snow was fresh and groomed, and everyone had a great day of skiing - especially Pippi! Her first run was a bit rough, but then we headed to the bunny slope (should have started there), and she went up and down a dozen times…and loved it!
Then she braved the slopes with Micah and the others, and he got great footage of her really skiing!
Of course the favorite part was freezing candy. Navy tried M&M’s because of her jaw widener not letting her have a Snickers. She said she prefers Snickers!
THe worst part of the day, was when I looked up and saw Navy by herself on a chair lift. Then I looked at the next chair to see Dash by himself! How on EARTH did they let him go alone??? He didn’t have the bar to protect him, he was half way off the seat, he was scooting around as I watched him, and he is prone to accidents. As a mom who doesn’t freak out very often, I was kind of freaking out. It wasn’t until I saw him come down that I felt okay again.
At the end of our skiing, we packed up and picked up Papa for dinner. Then Ka begged for the kids to have a sleepover, so she took everyone but Scout to her little college apartment to have a movie night!
The next day, we all met up in Draper so Ka could take Scout to the temple for his first time.
The rest of the time, we spent a lot of time at Bella’s house just having a good time hanging with cousins. It is actually the funnest trip! Full of relaxing and fun — the two best things!
Our final day brought a huge snow storm, so we geared up to go sledding! We found the best hill, had the perfect sleds, and had a good two hours straight of perfect fun.

We will be back for you next year Utah.
Please snow for us!
Scout Ordained!
Scout got the priesthood from B today. He has been so excited about this day, and hand-picked Bryan to be the one who ordained him. It was very cool and really special.
Soon after, (based on last conference’s change) Scout passed the sacrament at the age of 11. He was cool, calm and collected, especially when he put the bread out to Dash, and Dash thought he was a comedian and said, “No Thanks.” Our whole family got the giggles, and Scout tried his hardest to contain himself…but a little smile crept in, but my light kick wiped it back off. Stinking Dash!
After sacrament, Scout was asked to be the first new deacon to speak in the ward, so he gave his first talk. Like always…he did an amazing job! He spoke about the Holy Ghost, and His influence. I was so proud of Him…all day long!
When we got home, Bryan gave Scout a card with all of the pertinent information…especially the line of priesthood holders all the way back to Christ. Now that is awesome! Really really awesome!
It was a really great day with you Scout.
Way to make a mama proud.
