Growing Big

I was very impressed with Scout tonight.  After a fireside, when all of his buddies were fooling around, he took five minutes to contribute to cleaning up the chairs.  As a parent, you put your all into raising good and responsible children.  I guess until they are grown, you don’t really know the product of your efforts.  But please Scout….please stay exactly as you are right now! (minus the professional arguing back on anything asked of you.)

Tea Party

img_2679-2018-09-20-at-12-18-39.jpg
I don’t have time to socialize with too many people, so I feel pretty fortunate that one of the few people I do socialize with — Britni, has children roughly the same ages as my kids.  These three end children play so well together, and keep themselves so entertained while Britni and I get to have some adult conversations!

So There’s That

After a tough morning of Pippi not liking what she was asked to do, she got into the car in a bit of a huff.  As we drove around town, she seemed to lighten up.  Then when there was a pause in our conversation, 30 seconds went by, when Pippi boldly announced, “If you tell me things I don’t want to do, I’m not going to do them!!!!………………..p.a.u.s.e……………………So there’s that.”
Oh……O.K.

Aarghh!

Scout is awesome!  He has no hesitation to dress up for all of the different spirit days at Niguel Hills.  He just rocks them, and takes a few points of extra credit while he is at it.
Today was pirate day…

I drove by him three times laughing at how rad he is!  There he was…a solo pirate walking to school all by himself, without a care in the world.
Did I mention that he blacked out a few teeth.
(Obviously with Sharpie.)

When I picked him up, I was cracking up at his evolved look.  He said he just got too hot, but I was pleased that his Sharpie had evolved into his teeth looking repulsive like he just devoured a pepper sandwich!

Wednesday’s at Chick Fil A

img_2659-2018-09-19-at-14-16-26.jpg
With three different drop offs, and three different pick ups this year, we have to get creative on our waiting around town.  As a result, we have declared Wednesdays to be our “Chick Fil A Day”.  After I get Pippi, we run over and teach Dash’s P.E.  Then when the kids are out, we head into Chick Fil A, where the kids split a kid’s meal, and each gets a kid’s cone while they complete all of their homework for the day.

Navy has become quite the efficient multi-tasker.
Dash…he sees too many friends for me to call him efficient.  But he does eventually get everything done!

Talk Time

I sent my phone back to Navy while we were driving, so she could work on her upcoming talk.

Luckily I had taken a picture of it, so we had a copy.
When I got my phone back, this is what I found…

Three of many photos, taken by this selfie taker…

I wasn’t too surprised when she didn’t really get that far on her talk this afternoon.

Bloodshot

img_2650-2018-09-17-at-19-23-29.jpg
After Scout’s wakesurfing incident, he has been cruising around with a bloodshot eye.  We keep telling him to tell people who ask, “You should see the other guy!”  Then he tells us that we told him to say that on his last two black eyes!  Apparently we need to get some new material!

Dash the Star

img_e2644-2018-09-16-at-18-18-08.jpg
When I get sprung with “Mom…I am the star of the week” in the middle of the year…I am always a bit unprepared.  So this year, we signed up to be the first!  So I present to you….”Dash…the first star of the week in Mrs. Chang’s class”!  He loves family, friends, bike rides, fun, the beach and Pokemon.  And the picture on the bottom left proves that one of his best looks, is that of a desert rat.

Sharpie Stash

If this isn’t a perfect example of “your kids watch everything you do”, and to set a good example…I don’t know what is!  From the time the kids were little, I have had my Sharpie ways with them…but now that we need to be somewhere in an hour…I regret my example.  HOpefully he remembers my example of rubbing alcohol being the best remover!

The Lake

The Lake was calling Bryan’s name.  And we are lucky enough for Bryan to call our name to join him!  We went at the crack of dawn, and it was so fun!

Micah had a good run (although he still wants those grip gloves he has talked about for ten years!).
img_2518-2018-09-15-at-09-02-58.jpg
Navy did an awesome job skiing her longest run to date.  We were dying that she looked like a little old grandma!!!

Scout also had a great ski run — and ventured outside the wake a bunch!
Then Scout tried the wakeboard and did a pretty good job.
Finally, he tried the wake surfer…and it all went south for Scout!  His board nosedived, and he fell foreward.  WHen he was falling forward, his board came shooting up from under the water, and the tip hit just to the right of his right eye.

He got an immediate goose egg, and was out of commission for a bit.  Poor guy!  And how blessed are we that it wasn’t his eye!
img_2586-2018-09-15-at-11-41-43.jpg
He hopped back in when the kids all wanted to play “Drag”.  Doey was the caboose, and swollen eye or not — the kids did a good job of hanging on.

On our way home, I turned back to check out Scout’s eye, and saw this sweet scene.
Out of our family, Scout has easily had the worst injuries.  But nothing keeps him down for long.  And his attitude…basically after any injury he has, I don’t hear another word about it.
-
(Update…Dr. Baker felt around Scout’s eye, and he says that the tip of the board broke off a piece of Scout’s bone.  Then I felt it, and it was totally floating around near his temple.  It was kind of creepy, but according to the doc, his body will eventually absorb it…so that isn’t creepy at all!)
