Back To School Art

I spotted Scout’s art packet right away.
His penmanship was that of a first grader.  But his “BYU” looked great!

Neighbors

We have the BEST neighbors!  I actually grew up alongside their kids in Bear Brand, so we have a long history.  But they are awesome.  Recently the father of the tribe has had a few brutal bouts with not feeling good, so the kids and I wanted to do something nice for him.

Beauty Tutorial

There was a comical beauty tutorial going on this morning.
A lot of “Boo Yeahs” and finger snaps were included.
And then she told Dash to get in his dragon costume.  I think she wanted to do his makeup.  Dash disappeared — never to be seen again.

Birthday Surprises

In no particular order at all….
my top three birthday surprises are…

Scout ate meat!!!!
Happy birthday to me.
“What’s the big deal?” he asked.
And the best part…he ate another and another!
HALLELUJAH!

Dash’s Talk

Dash nailed his talk today!  It was impressive — especially since he had it memorized, and only got it on Friday.  He has the memorizing gene.  He spoke about a time he got lost in the mall and was looking for me and kept calling out, “Mom, Mom where are you?”  Then he talked about how when I found him, I was so happy and told him I never want him lost.  He then sang the lyric, “Heavenly Father…are you really there?” and told everyone that as much as moms don’t want their kids lost, Heavenly Father doesn’t want us lost either.  It was so sweet, well-delivered and came from the cutest kid in the whole primary.
Well done my little singing talk giver!
And the best part…it was on my birthday.
There is not one birthday present I would have liked more!

Two Constants

img_2265-2018-08-26-at-12-35-28.jpg
Two things you can always count on from our household:
1. My kids are in the unders as often as they can.
2. My kids ask to “run home” from the gate.
Today those two things collided.

Beach Babes

Pippi pretty much lucked out on her peers.  It just so happens a ton of our friends have a girl who is around Pippi’s age…so no matter where we go, Pippi usually has a good buddy.  Today at the beach, it was a day of beach babes + Sterdy.  Poor boy!

Learning Letters

img_2245-2018-08-23-at-14-10-14.jpg
Pippi’s enthusiasm is really in the gutter over this whole “learning letters” thing.
Especially when it comes to “H” and “A” which are common mix ups for her.
So in an attempt to get her liking the whole process…I did what she likes best.
I put her in charge as the “teacher”.

Now that she is “teaching” the letters to her “students”…she likes the whole “learning letters” thing a whole lot better.
Thanks Ka for the years of exemplification!
Now if we only had “Snowy”, the prized pupil.

Personal Scriptures

I went into the boy’s room to wake them up for school, and came upon this scene.  Scout had already beat me to the punch, with his teeth brushed, face washed, and two chapters into the Book of Mormon.  What a good boy…and a great surprise.

FYI…

Navy wasn’t amused when I filled out her teacher’s “Get To Know Navy” information page.  They asked where she might need more help, and wrote, “Her resting face is a bit crabby”.
