Kid’s List

img_2948-2017-01-09-at-20-19-15.jpg
My kids do really well with lists.  So if I am going to be really busy after school, or not be home…I make a list for them.  Today’s list was pretty normal, and they all did a decent job of accomplishing it.  But after a closer look, I realized that someone had altered Scout’s list.  On top of “doing homework”, “clean dishes” and “piano”, there was also “poop in pants” and “be onist”.
My first clue was the phonetic spelling that is a telltale sign of Navy.
My second clue was the big “NO” after “be onist”.
This was definitely a disgruntled sister at work.

Homemade Currency

There was a contest to see whose picture was going to be turned into the official currency in Scout’s English class.
I liked his idea of a piggy bank as the picture, and that they were called “Scholar Bucks”.
Unfortunately, his class voted for another entry.
It could because he didn’t spell “monney” correctly.
Or more likely — because they were in Mrs. Welsh’s class, and not Mrs. “Welch”.
Buddy — I’m glad you didn’t create the “United Stats of Amerika’s” currency!
Better luck next time!

Chick Fil-A Stinkers

Why is it, that when my kids get into the Chick Fil-A playground, they think they own the place?
I’m sure the little girl with ladybug rain boots, who was trying to get down the community slide, disagreed.

Pippi’s Future Mug

Today, might mark the most important day of Pippi’s future.  Today is the day that Pippi met the miracle worker — Dr. Jorgensen!  Everyone on our side was crossing our fingers, that he would take her on as a “future patient”.  I dressed her to the nines, and fortunately for us — she turned on the charm.

He looked at the buck teeth.
He inspected her from all angles.
He had her “open” and “bite” many times.
After, he told me the greatest four words I have heard since her birth — “This is all fixable”!!!

Then like old friends, they played “make believe” for the next half hour.
Apparently, it was Dr. Jorgenson’s birthday, and she had the perfect cake and the perfect song for him…over and over again!

Sweetest Dash

img_2752-2016-12-22-at-20-21-54.jpg
Dash might be the sweetest boy who has ever lived.
There has been some spice thrown in over the last year or two, but his innate nature is 100% sweet.
Lately, whenever he sees something that has gone wrong, he will say, “Don’t worry mom, you can fix anything.”  So the other day, when Scout broke one of our glass water bottles, and there was glass all over the kitchen, Scout was a little scared to tell me.  After he did, I went in to see the mess, and so did all of the other kids.  Navy felt bad, but commented, “Whoa, there is glass everywhere!” while Pippi just exclaimed, “Uh Oh!”, but then Dash said, “That’s okay Scout, our Mom can fix everything.”
Talk about the sweetest kid, whom I am in love with!

“Daddy”

img_6655-2017-01-07-at-09-28-08.jpg
Pippi always has a doll or animal tucked under her arm.  Lately, she has had my favorite one under her arm.  Her name is “Daddy”!  Everyone laughs so hard, that her little Asian doll with short hair, was named “Daddy”.  When I asked her why she named her little girl that, she said, “Das not a ghirl.  Das Daddy!”
HAHAHA!
I tried to convince her that the cute one was mommy, but she gave me an eye roll and walked away.

Pillowcase by Dash

Scout and Navy have both recently made their own pillowcases, and Dash wanted to make one too.

So he and I shopped for the fabric today, and came home for a sewing session.
He chose a masculine plaid.

And he created a masterpiece!
And just when I didn’t think he could get any cuter, he offered it to me to sleep on for the night.
I refused, but he insisted, so I took it and oohed and aahed over the perfect pillowcase!
He went off to bed with the biggest smile a boy can make.
And about five minutes later, I watched that smile come back in the room, as Dash coyly asked if he could just try his pillowcase “for a few minutes”!
I reluctantly let him have it.

Paper Bows

Navy got creative tonight for Pippi and herself.
She noticed that neither of them were wearing bows, so she created two out of toilet paper!

I have to admit, they looked great.

The true test of how great they were, is how well they withstood a sister’s tickling match!
These sisters are cute together!
I hope they are always the best of friends…and that they include me!

Birthday Desserts

img_6650-2017-01-06-at-18-56-00.jpg
My kids have figured out, that if they have a birthday within the month of us eating out, they can get the waitress to bring them a free dessert.  I am kind of against this, and kind of for it.  They are honest about when the birthday is, and they are precocious enough to ask, so I let it go.
The part I am against, is the fighting for every last morsel on the plate!
Happy 14 days early birthday Navy!

Dashy’s Fortress

After Dash finished this fortress, he told me that he is going to build me a real one when he is big!
I’m in!
