You have to love, the kids who love your kids.
That is why I love the Hansens — every single one of them.

Kid’s White Elephant

Britni dreamt up a kid’s white elephant gift exchange.

I was obviously game, and it ended up being a blast.

Navy was a great sport about the whole thing!

Royal was not.  When he saw that Scout gave his Pikachu stuffed animal as a white elephant gift, he didn’t quite get it, and was totally bummed and bugged.  It was actually hilarious, and when Britni was getting so mad at his reaction, it even got funnier!  Leave it to my family to bring tears to a party.

And if Royal hadn’t provided them, we can always count on Pippi to bring them!
Even though there were a few misses, it was a night full of mostly wins.
Second annual…next year!

Pirate Tooth

A few weeks ago, I remember Pippi coming inside in tears.  Apparently, she had hurt her mouth, and there was a little blood to confirm.  I didn’t think about again, until she shrieked back when biting into an apple earlier this week.  I thought, “She must still have a sore tooth from that bonk”.  And now…

My cute little girl has a full blown pirate tooth.
Among all of her off-white teeth, is one brownish/grey tooth.
I guess this wouldn’t be so bad, but Pippi’s buck teeth aren’t very under the radar.
So now, every single person that sees Pippi comments on her tooth.  Then she says, “Oh yeah….my Piwhat Toof.”

Mall Climbing

My two kids who don’t really love to shop, occupied their time quite creatively, while we stopped at South Coast Plaza this afternoon.
They were getting a few looks at first, but then a whole lot of looks as they got higher.

Christmasy

It’s FINALLY looking and feeling Christmasy around these parts.
Let the countdown begin!

Slowpoke Eaters

Dash and his buddy Riley got to sit together at their school Christmas party today.
Riley’s mom sent me this cute picture of them.

And about 15 minutes later, she sent me this picture!
Dash has always been a slow eater.
I am glad he has a friend to join him on his snail-paced journey.

Dangerous Riders

When I heard the kids were all outside on their bikes, I went out to make sure they were wearing their helmets.

I first saw Dash whiz by.

Then I saw Scout riding the Pips.
And I realized then, that helmets were the least of my problems.

Isabel’s Gift

img_6477-2016-12-21-at-14-58-05.jpg
When Isabel came to clean today, she brought Pippi a Christmas present.
Pippi couldn’t believe that Isabel was giving her a gift, but I was more in shock.
Talk about nice.
img_6482-2016-12-21-at-15-02-17.jpg
When Pippi opened it, it was the little girl who rode a scooter that lit up while music blared.
I am pretty sure you couldn’t have hand-picked a more perfect thing for the Pips.
Pippi turned around about four times and thanked her.
And the whole time Isabel was here today, Pippi kept playing with her scooter girl - who she named Isabel - over and over!

Auntie’s Gift

img_6476-2016-12-21-at-12-11-19.jpg
Earlier this year, I recognized that Scout needed a little extra push in Chinese.  I knew just the woman to call — Auntie!  Scout’s second grade teacher’s aunt who adores him, but DOES NOT let him get away with anything. When I approached her, she said she would absolutely help Scout, and she has.  He was back on track in no time.  According to Ms. Lee, Auntie is as strict as ever with him.  But for some reason, Scout thrives for her.  I am pretty sure I know why.  Although Auntie is strict and firm, he knows that she loves him.  She gives him accolades when they are due, and he strives to get them.  And when Christmas is coming, Auntie goes out shopping for a gift.  Today, Scout got his very first Chinese dictionary.  Auntie was so excited to give it to him, and he was thrilled to get it!

Babysat

Regardless of what the babysitter said, I am pretty sure that this night of kid watching, wasn’t as easy as she promised.
My first clues — Pippi isn’t in her bed, and the covers look like they have been through a war.
