Navy’s List

Scout was at his buddy’s house for the afternoon, and I was recovering from surgery.  Micah had the other three, and he asked them what they wanted to do.  Navy came up with a list:

On behalf of the kids, they wanted to eat, play games, go camping, roast hot dogs and marshmallows, and sleep in tent.
WOW!
Apparently, they think their dad is putty in their hands.
But when he said, “OK, Navy — I’ll pack the car with the camping gear, you pack the kids” he proved that he is putty in their hands!

Micah said that Navy was packed in under five minutes, and had every possible thing they needed.

Micah also said that Pippi was a perfect little camper for her first time out!

And Pippi said, “MOm, it was awesome!  I made soooo many mallows on the fire”!

Mini Houdini

I have gone through so many different sorts of locks to keep this girl in her tent.  This is to get her some sleep, and to avoid silent disasters that happen when I don’t know she is awake.  The latest lock — a wire with a twisty lock was very effective for two weeks.  But for the last four days, I’ve put Pippi down to bed, and ten minutes later, she is out and telling me, “I not tired anymore!”  So today, as I put her down to bed, I waited outside the room.  I heard rustling and maneuvering.  And then I opened the door and said, “Caught Ya!”
Then she gave me the play by play.
Apparently, she puts her long and lean fingers through the teeny hole between zippers.  Then she does this (she shows me her fingers twisting the locking part of it).  Then she gets her foot in the hole that just got bigger.  Finally, she pushes on one side with her foot until it opens.
Very crafty my girl.
But do you dare using those long and lean fingers to open up a safety pin?

Tetherball Lesson

Dash wanted to learn how to play tether ball, so he obviously went to the champ.   As Scout taught Dash, I saw a boy full of admiration being taught by a boy full of pride.

All Four Opt To Run

img_5864-2016-11-17-at-13-22-42.jpg
Like they so often do, once I got through our gate, the kids begged to run home.  It is kind of cool that all four beg.  So naturally, I let them all go.  As I watched them, I was filled with pride.  Partly, because all four were running together. But mostly because Navy heard Pippi call out to her, and she immediately turned around to go back and run with her little sister.

I-I-P-P-I

img_5834-2016-11-17-at-12-13-56.jpg
While at lunch today, we passed the time waiting for our food by Pippi spelling her name, “I-I-P-P-I”!
She thinks she has it down, and quotes it constantly.
For example, when I ask who has their seat belt on, Pippi yells out “I-I-P-P-I does!”
Or when I give Navy a spelling test, Pippi grabs a paper and “writes”.  When we ask her what she is spelling, she says, “My name silly!  It says I-I-P-P-I!”
Update — Some of my other stinky kids have taught her that it is actually “P-I-P-P-I”.
I was bummed, because I loved her own spelling.
But the good news, is that it is now “P-P-P-P-I”!

Shake Sharers

img_5823-2016-11-16-at-13-36-40.jpg
I’ve created monsters, who insist on a Chick-Fil-A shake, every time we step foot in the place.  I want to say no, but then I remember how stinking cute they are when they are sucking from different straws in the same shake.  When they start insisting on their own shake, I will finally put my foot down!  And until then — slurp up you two.

On Stage

img_5809-2016-11-15-at-17-28-50.jpg
This girl is always on stage.
Whether she is at a restaurant, in our own home, or anywhere else, she finds her “stage” and performs.
She is constantly entertaining, and never dull.
And lately, she’s my favorite thing.

Tickle Fight

img_5808-2016-11-15-at-17-16-46.jpg
Tickle fights are so uneven at our house.
Micah uses his too-strong-of-fingers to tickle us.
And the second we lightly get him back, he says uncle!
Pansy!

Balloon Struggles

The struggle is real.
I think she was close to passing out before I stepped in.

Field Trip Escort

I have been on a ton of field trips with the kids.
But I usually just drive myself there, and forego the bus.
This time is was a legitimate escort, and a mighty fine one at that.
I love Scout’s class…we have a lot of history together.
So being back with them is great, because we all know each other really well.

This was Scout’s obnoxious reaction to finding out I was going to be his sidekick.
Don’t let that face fool you — he was stoked!

We went to a sea lion conservation organization, that taught us about sea life and what is making them have harder lives.  It was actually fascinating.

Here is the gang.

Here is the gang after I have instructed them to DAB!

And on our bus ride home, I brought them all pocket mazes, and we had competitions on the bus for the first one done.
Obviously, I had rad prizes for the winners!
And as the kids got off the bus, they all personally invited me back to their next field trip.
