Twin’s Birthday

Pippi and I visited the twins to wish them a happy birthday.
She sang the Happy Birthday song to them.

And then chauffeured Goldi around on her new toy.

And then all of the kids sat at the window, waiting for a birthday balloon delivery!

Greek Goddess

I was sitting with Navy at dinner, and when I glanced over at her, I was almost stopped in my tracks at how pretty she looked.  She looked like a little Greek goddess in her crown braid, and rosy cheeks from her tennis lesson.  And I especially loved her staring off, mostly because she was wiped out from a tough workout…but I told her it was a good look in pictures.

Scout’s Test Scores

When we signed Scout up for Chinese, we were told that his English would suffer for a few years, but that it would even out, and be great again by third grade.  Well, it is true…his English suffered.  Every standardized test score he has gotten up until now have been a bit disappointing.  There have been many times where I thought, “Why in the world did I put my kids in Mandarin?”.  There have been frustrating weeks and months.  But today, when I got the mail, and got his scores from the end of third grade, I was ecstatic!

He got in the top levels of scoring in both English, and math!
I’m not exhaling yet, but I am really happy to see that what we heard about third grade being the year of catching up, has proved to be true in our case!
Thank goodness!

Rainy Days

Rainy days and Mondays don’t got this family down!

“Fossils”

img_4479-2016-09-19-at-20-01-31.jpg
Nonnie was really excited to see the “fossils” that Dash had found.  She told him to run in ahd show her.
And when he did, she yelled, “EEEWWW!  Take those things to the trash right now”!
I guess snail shells filled with dirt and grime aren’t technically fossils, although Dash argued that they definitely were!

Dash’s Lunch

img_4480-2016-09-20-at-08-38-26.jpg
Dash said he was going to run down and make his own lunch.
When I got down, his lunch was all set, and already in his backpack.
Good thing, I second guessed his work.
Because it opened the door for a great conversation about healthy lunch options.

Pirates for Donuts

img_4475-2016-09-19-at-19-28-09.jpg
B made huge points with my kids, when she told them if they dressed like pirates, she’d take them to Krispy Kreme for their own dozen donuts each!
I didn’t make points, when I capped them at two donuts each.
Although, after their dad’s glutinous partaking, they followed him, and each got three.

Warm Laundry

How awesome is being a kid!
Especially when you get warm laundry dumped on top of you, as a major perk in life.

“Our Thing”

img_4457-2016-09-18-at-18-50-45.jpg
Pippi and I have “our thing”, that we do about five times a day.
I will say, “Pippi, let’s do our thing” and she comes over and puts her hands on my cheeks.  Then I put my hands on her cheeks.  After being nose to nose, and I count to three, we both say, “I love you sooooooo much”.
Then we giggle, and do it four or five more times.

Yeabook Pictures

I finally sat down and cleaned out a bunch of bags that had congregated in our downstairs closet.  Among those bags, were Scout and Navy’s backpacks from last year.  It was amazing what I found in those.  One thing was a school yearbook that I didn’t pay for.  I never pay for their elementary yearbooks (mostly because there is usually one school picture of them, and nothing else).  But somehow, my kids always end up with a “leftover”.

As I thumbed through the yearbook, I saw Scout’s class page.  His picture was on the left, and on the right side, each kid had drawn a self portrait.  I always love to see Scout’s artwork against his classmates.  His usually looks like a child three grades down drew his…so I looked and looked.

And then I found it…..the “+ Scout Denison” at the very bottom of the page.
I FaceTimed Micah, and we cracked up that he was “that kid” who didn’t make the cut.
Or maybe, he knows his artistic skills are three grades below, and opted out.
Or maybe (more than likely), he was absent with removed tonsils.
