SuperBaby

This little SuperBaby is my favorite thing lately.
She talks and talks and talks.
Not a single person knows what she is saying.
But she doesn’t care….she talks anyway.
The only thing I can understand…
when she is tattling on Dash!

Megan’s Dress

This girl was a disaster today!
img_0262-2015-12-13-at-11-57-42.jpg
At least she looked cute in Megan’s dress from 46 years ago!
So as much as she cried, I was so in love with the dress, I just held her and cuddled her.
Usually, I would have pawned her off after 30 minutes of on/off tears.
(It looks shorter than it was in this picture.)
After church, we put her down for a really long nap, and she woke up as happy as anything.
I guess this girl needs her sleep….and then some!

Hard Work

Every year, we go down to the Brockbanks to help them with their awesome service project.  This was the first year that I was really impressed with my kid’s work ethic.  They worked hard cleaning car wheels for three hours straight.  There was no slacking, no complaining, and they were happy to be helping.  So when we got in the car, I said, “Kids…I am SOOO proud of you.  You worked so hard.  You just worked and worked and never complained.  Thank you so much…..”  I was quickly interupted by Scout during my speech with, “No mom….THANK YOU.  You are the person who has taught us to work hard!”
I’m not sure if there was sucking up involved, but I may have gotten a teeny tear in my eye.

Cheering Squad

img_0192-2015-12-12-at-13-06-26.jpg
Look who came to cheer on Scout in his basketball game today!
And the great byproduct of Nonnie being there — was Pippi had her best friend’s warm lap to sit on.
Which is a far cry from Pippi running all over the place.

Freezing Chores

img_0259-2015-12-12-at-08-36-51.jpg
This is a rad picture!
It’s a picture of two kids up at the crack of dawn (by themselves), who dressed themselves warmly (by themselves), and started on cleaning the car and backyard (together)!
Here they are deciding what they should do with Scout’s crystal science experiment that froze overnight.
I love these kids.
I especially love these kids when they are responsible.

Doll Face

When I handed Pippi’s dolly to her, she was not happy.
img_0188-2015-12-11-at-16-02-46.jpg
Scout stepped back with his heal, right onto her dolly’s face.
She didn’t know what to do!
She didn’t like her dolly anymore, but she was still the mommy??!!??
img_0191-2015-12-11-at-16-03-04.jpg
I told her to give her baby a hug, and clearly, she wasn’t very excited to.
But like any good mommy, she supported her baby.
Then Nurse Navy came on the scene.
Can I just say how happy Pippi was, when Navy reformed the dolly’s face!
Pippi literally squealed with excitement.

Navy’s Midterm

After working with Polie on her midterm, Navy still missed 10 out of 64.  So I told her that she was going to have to retake it.  As we were driving home, I could tell that maybe she was sniffling a bit, so I asked what was wrong.  She said, “Mom, Sarah missed 11, and she doesn’t have to retake it!”  Then before I could answer, Scout chimed in with, “Navy, that is because we have a strict mom who makes us work hard.  And because she is strict, we will grow up to be wealthy and we won’t live on the streets in a cardboard box.”  Navy thought for a second, and said, “Nuh-uh Scout.  You always eat junk food!”
All three of us were quiet for a split second, and then Scout and I started cracking up.  He then said, “Navy I said Wealthy, not Healthy!”
Needless to say, the mood was lightened.
And then I informed her that she would still be retaking it, but only to prove to herself and Polie (and me) that she could get 100%.
Which she did!

Krispy’s Farewell

My kids were sad to see Krispy go back to the North Pole.
Which was completely opposite of my reaction.
Navy was sweet enough to make him a parting gift.

Two Elf hats made from red felt and cotton balls.
“To Krispy, I made these hats for you. Take which one fits you!  Give the other one to your friend!  Love, Navy”
The next day, Navy was soooo stoked to get this text straight from Santa!

Navy, it looks like there is a great Christmas ahead for you.

One On One

Scout has had a rough season in basketball.  Things just haven’t quite come together for him.  So when the new neighbor kid was bouncing his ball down the street, I invited him over for some one on one with Scout.  The neighbor is 11, and Scout is 8, so I was pretty sure it would be a waste of the neighbor’s time.  But then the game started, and WHOA!!!
img_0176-2015-12-10-at-17-04-09.jpg
Scout was AMAZING!
He was aggressive, fast, made every shot he threw up…it was unlike anything I have ever seen from him!
At first the neighbor was giving him chances, but by the end, he wasn’t.
The neighbor ended up winning, but not by much.
If only this game could transfer to the team game!
PLEASE!!!

Afterwards, we were talking about it.  He said that one-on-one is easier for him.  And then he started bragging about how he “killed” the new guy.  I told him to pipe down, until I see that on one of his Saturday games!  And then I told him it was time to fix that awful new smile of his, where he looks like Popeye!

Knee Pads

I told Navy that she is not to be on her Rollerblades without knee pads.
So you can imagine my anger when I pulled up to see her cruising without any.
But she saw me, her smile was just too big….something was up.
img_0166-2015-12-10-at-14-54-23.jpg
Upon a closer examination, and her pointing out her ingenuity to me….she had knee pads alright!

Check these Duct tape/cotton ball knee pads out!
She was so proud of herself.
OK.
Now go and get your helmet on.
Can’t wait to see this one!
