Welcome to the OC Fair ‘15!
Where….
sunblock
cousins
handicapped persons
and rides were all in full force.
As usual, we hit all of our favorite spots, ate our favorite food, sweat our brains out, won goldfish and junky stuffed animals, and had the very best time!
Some of us were down for the count before we got home.
(Good thing Pippi was so gentle when she woke him up.)
And then it was time to put something relatively healthy in their bodies (shredded wheat), before they all hit the hay.
Until next year.
We headed down to San Diego today for some fun in the sun.
Doey told us about the bay where we could find sand dollars.
Here are Micah and Scout searching — but nothing turned up.
So after some good searching, we decided to head out to the beach.
Where there was a lot of seaweed fun.
Check out this foursome jumping rope.
Then there was the daddy jungle gym.
The daddy warmer.
And finally, the showers where there was quite the production to get everyone sand free.
And the best part of the day…when Megan (who has nothing at all to do these days) took my three oldest for the night!
Good times!
Over two years ago, Micah and I embarked on the license plate game. It all came down to the last six months, when I was searching high and low for Deleware, and Micah still had West Virginia, and Rhode Island.
It was quite the battle, and every time we were in the car together, we were in competition mode.
And then the day came….
Doey took us to some random bay to find live sand dollars.
The whole thing was a bit of a bust, so we decided to get the car and head out to the beach.
When I went to get the car…I saw it.
So I drove to where everyone was, and got them in the car. Then I turned around, to drive back. Micah pointed out that it was a dead end, and I told him, “it is anything BUT a dead end!”
And that is when we closed the book on our game, and I TOOK…no, I YANKED….no, I RIPPED the win right out of his hands!!!!!
Halle-freaking-lujiah!
Just some amazing architectural work from Navy this morning.
I was highly impressed.
As were these two who were watching the master at work.
Just a beautiful little princess in a homemade crown she jeweled up all afternoon.
This thing was intricate and tedious…and right up Icka’s alley.
I am not a huge fan of the beach.
But I really do LOVE it first thing in the morning, and right at sundown.
So today, my kids were lucky enough to get a stint at Baby Beach at both of my favorite times.
The morning was uncrowded, cool, quiet, and relaxing.
And the evening was cooling off, uncrowded, and a perfect place for them all to eat their oatmeal I picked up from Mickey D’s.
Baby Beach is so easy with my kids right now — especially Pippi.
First, Pippi cruises back and forth to the water to fill her bucket with Dash.
Then Pippi heads out to the water where Scout is playing.
Then Pippi plays in the sand with Navy on their creations.
Then Pippi finally ends up in her daddy’s arms, because Baby Beach poops her out.
It’s a good thing that Pippi is so good….
…because a lot of my energy is spent, watching over this little Casanova.
My kids always hear about when I was little, and my brothers and I would have “squirty fights” from the flower pods at the end of our street.
So when we were close to my old house, they begged to go see the squirties.
For fear of traffic, I said no at first, but then relented.
And it all worked out in the end. When I got this note from Scout:
“Mom, please don’t worry about putting the kids to bed. I will put the to bed. Love, Scout. And shower them.”
So I let him honor his note, and it was a beautiful evening to me!
Micah and I had a friendly competition at the Discovery Center.
We were on our own computers and were using their face recognition software to create the other person.
According to Micah, this is me????
Whoa, is he ever off!
But I, on the other hand, nailed it!
I even got the Asian afro almost right.
You know that the Clifford Touch is good when all four of my kids lay shoulder to shoulder, while they patiently wait for their turn.
If only she did adults, I’d be right there with them.
