Lego Lovers

We headed out to another Lego Build this morning.  I knew Scout and Royal would both love it.  But Brit and I weren’t sure about Navy or Grey.  Both did well with a little help, and all four insisted on signing up for next month’s build.  Not bad for $10!

She Understands

Pippi is so stinking cute right now.
She understands about everything I tell her.
-
When I tell her to “sit down” (because she has never sat in her high chair), she sits.
When I tell her to “get mommy a diaper”, she gets a diaper, wipes and comes back and lays down.
When I tell her “no no”, she fakes cries.
When I ask, “Where’s Nonnie” she goes and finds her.
-
I know I think all of my kids are smart….but I am wondering if Pippi isn’t my smartest yet?!?!

Puzzles

Dash has about a dozen puzzles.  He is so good at them, and can put them together with no problems.  So in the morning, when he asks to veg out to the television that “does not make [his] brain dumb”, I tell him to work on some puzzles instead.
He is usually excited to put them together, but this morning, he wasn’t too intrigued.
So our exchange went like this:
“Dash…you haven’t put together your Superman puzzle in a long time.  I bet you don’t remember how to do it.”
He said, “I can’t do it by myself.  I need help.”
(Which he doesn’t, but I was getting Pippi ready, so he wanted a little attention.)
I said, “Uh Oh.  Then I’m going to call Crew (Jon’s nephew he met in Utah) and give your puzzles to him.”
(Phone fake dialed)
“Oh hi Crew.  You know how you LOVE puzzles?  I have a whole bunch that Dash doesn’t know how to do anymore.  You do?  OK, I will send them to you.  You are going to love them….especially that Superman one.”
Dash listened carefully, and after I hung up, he grabbed the phone and asked for Crew’s number.
I dialed Bella.
Bella said, “Hello?”
Dash said, “My mom is going to give Crew all of my puzzles.”
She didn’t understand what was going on, so I took the phone.
I said, “Hi Bella.  You know how Crew loves puzzles?  Well, Dash has the Superman one that is really rare.  They no longer print it anymore, and it is a collector’s item.  Well, I’m going to send it to you to give to Crew. OK?”
She said she wanted to talk to Dash.
Then she said, “Oh Dash…Crew is going to just love that really special puzzle.  Thank you so much for forgetting how to do it so he can have it. “
He thought for a few seconds.
Then he put the phone up to his lips and said, “NOT!” and hung up.
Then quickly ran off…probably to his Superman puzzle.

Stink Eye

Dash is giving the closing prayer in primary this Sunday.
I was talking to him about how to go up to the pulpit, and how to make sure everyone was reverent before he started.
And then I told him to give anyone who wasn’t ready the stink eye.

Which he nailed perfectly.
(I just told him to do the same look I give him at family prayer when he is acting up.)

Frick and Frack

These two can not wait for the other to get up in the morning.
Dash now sneaks into Pippi’s room, and personally gets her out of bed.
And then they play and play.

One of her favorites is finding his belly button and pushing it all the way in.
And then she attempts to say “ding dong”.

And if ever the Legos are out, she gets in….summons him over, and then they spend a bit of time in the “Lego Boat.”
They have their routine, and are genuinely really sweet with each other.
I love this get-along stage.
Please let it stay forever.
Please….PLEASE never let her get the teasing gene that Navy has masterfully perfected.
And if she does, please let Dash learn to ignore it rather than react to it!
(Think I’m dealing with some older kid issues?)

Tilling

My kids are so excited to do the garden this year.
We put in a ton of work today to prepare our soil.  It was hard work, but my kids were up to the task.
I was really, really impressed with all of them.
But Scout was a maniac, and Navy was a close second.

And this girl?
I think she might be a little more like aunt Bella.

Words and More Words

img_7528-2015-04-18-at-17-42-36.jpg
Pippi is saying so many things lately!
She is always talking, and pointing…but it is getting to the really fun part where I am realizing what she is actually saying.
She says:
“Muh” for more.
“Mom”
Dad”
“Kucker” for sucker.
“Cow” for Scout.
“Nana” for Nonnie.
“Burr” for bird.
“No”
“Uh oh” and the way she purses her lips on this one is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
“Buhh” for book.
“Bubu” for bubble.
And of course “Po Po” for poo poo — the one my kids have ingrained into her vocabulary.
-
And where she really shines…is repeating after me.
Just yesterday, she repeated, “No Thank You.”
-
This little baby of mine is growing up, and I’m a bit sad — but excited to go through all of these cute little stages with her.

Two Notes

I received two notes during the after school witching hours.
img_6276-2015-04-21-at-16-51-07.jpg
Dash explained to me that his note was a picture of my teeth.
img_6278-2015-04-21-at-17-24-34.jpg
And Scout’s said, “Mom, I am sorry.  Can I do my Chinese after spelling?”
And then I was supposed to “circle” yes or no.
Notice my circle?

Fruit Lovers

I wasn’t sure anybody could like fruit as much as Scout.
But I’m thinking that Dash might give him a run for his money.

Surprise

img_6266-2015-04-20-at-20-52-35.jpg
You can not imagine how excited my kids were when all of a sudden — minutes before bed time, the door opened and it was Cade, Jake and Dayna.
They went wild!
So we obviously had to scratch our bed time, and head out to pizza and ice cream with them.
