This morning, we checked off 24 scriptures, read for 30 minutes, cleaned out the baking cupboard, cleaned the house, did a bit of art, and now it was time to exercise.
We incorporated our exercise into our “play hard” portion of the day, and “hiked” to Britni’s house.
We parked on PCH, got out our scooters, loaded the stroller, and headed off on our 4 mile “hike”.
My view for most of the day.
Scout is my treasure/trash collector.
From far away, I could see he had found something and was totally excited about it.
I really thought he found a dollar on the ground, but as I got closer, he was stoked to show me, “a ball AND the ball’s skin!”
We kept it for a bit, but I told him I thought bugs might be living in it, so we got to chuck it.
After four miles, we walked a bit past Brit’s house to Ellie’s Table for cookies for the crew.
We found a huge and shady grass area and had a picnic of cookies and kale salad.
Then it was off to Brits.
The kids stripped down and got in the water with Grey for half an hour.
We loaded up on more snacks, and then headed back for another four miler.
I was decently wiped by the end because I chose the short cut strolling through the sand for a mile.
But it was a great adventure.
And the silver lining to it all…the penny we put on the train tracks that got smashed!
(Shown: the real penny, and the other ‘penny’ that Navy tried to convince us was hers.)

I’m liking these Work Hard/Play Hard days.
