Bella and Jon had a couple of extra people at her bridal photo shoot.
The bouquet holder, and the weasel who wasn’t great at listening to the rules!

Perfect Pips

She had me at the eyelashes.

But those lips are major contenders.
How perfect is the Pips?!

Swim Lessons

Scout has been thriving in his swimming lessons.
He is the youngest of five swimmers and doing the best.
Nice work Dash!

He claims Gretchen is his best friend.
His fake crying at the second lesson would have you thinking otherwise, but he really does love Gretchen.

And he performs for her.
Just take a look at this float!

After he is finished, he lays like a burrito in his towel, and licks his sucker that Gretchen brings him.
And then, after a few minutes of a rest, he wants to go in all over again.
I had already taken his swim diaper off, but told him to be VERY careful to not go poop in the pool.

And he listened.
He got out when necessary and pooped on the ground.
Great listening Dash!

Shopping Mate

img_2200-2014-05-05-at-14-06-22.jpg
Nonnie and I were shopping at Bloomingdale’s.  We brought the perfect shopping mate.  She was quiet, sweet, happy, stayed in her stroller, and was even able to sit in the high chair for the first time!  Looks like she will be my shopping mate for a long time to come.  Or at least until she whines and cries to walk herself!  And then she is nixed completely!

Scout’s Talk

Scout gave this talk in church today….

“We went to Lake Powell a few years ago.  It was our family, some of my cousins were there, and even My Nonnie went. And she hates the heat and the sun.  We had an awesome time.

One afternoon, my aunt and uncle took my Nonnie into the harbor to get some gas in our boat and pick up some snacks.  When they were there, my Nonnie tried to step off the boat to the dock.  But when she stepped, there was a wave that knocked the boat and made her step into the water and fall in!

When she fell in, she got trapped under the water below the dock and didn’t know which way was up.  She was very confused, and said that she thought she might die.

But then came my uncle Bryan’s hand that reached out to get her and bring her to safety.

When my Nonnie tells that story, she always says that Bryan saved her life.

And he did!

Bryan saved Nonnie’s physical life!

But what about her other life – her spiritual life?

I’ll give you a hint….Navy just gave us the answer to this question….

She just said, “We have seen and do testify that the Father sent his son to be the Savior of the world.?

The answer is that Jesus Christ is our Savior.

Bryan might have saved my Nonnie’s life here on Earth, but it is our Savior, Jesus Christ, who saves her spiritual life so that I get to be with her forever and ever.

I am so grateful to Jesus Christ, because you better believe that Heaven just wouldn’t be complete without my Nonnie!”

Happy Birthday to SCOUT!

Animal Activists

Navy and I were driving her to preschool when we saw a little family of ducks that were lost.  It was the Mama, Dada and four baby ducks, and they were alongside a really busy two lane highway.  We may not have noticed them, but there was a lady who was in the middle of the street trying to stop and redirect traffic to avoid the family.  When we saw what was happening, Navy and I agreed that it was our duty to get out and help.

Our first effort was trying to get these ducks to the other side of the road and into an open area where they would be far away from the cars.

We finally did, and they found a bit of refuge under a big truck.

The day was boiling hot — we are mid heat wave, and it was about 94 degrees during all of the shenanigans — so we thought it was important to get them some drinking water.
Luckily I had a few bottles, and a cake dish in my car from Scout’s birthday party the night before.
Cutest Navy carried that pan of water everywhere! Through prickly brush, up and down embankments, around puddles.  It was so sweet, but unfortunately they never did drink any of the water.

After a gang of 6 policemen arrived, we all scattered out and tried to walk them safely over some train tracks, and down into a field that had a small creek bed at the end of it.
-
We aren’t sure how the ducks ended up, but according to Navy, she is pretty sure they ate a huge meal, drank plenty of water and are floating in a pond somewhere.
I’m crossing my fingers!
Because as I watched those parents guide and sacrifice for their very own Scout, Navy, Dash and Pippi — I did get a tiny bit emotional.
