When I told Navy she needed to hurry to get her hair done so we could head out the door, Scout ran in and took charge.
Impressive I would say.
Note that he also greased his own hair down with tons of gel.
Impressive again?
But look whose hair he failed to tackle.
The boy who ran like the wind to avoid the skilled brush of his big brother.
I am not overestimating my boy when I say he is the happiest baby on Earth! He smiles from ear to ear all day long. I personally have gotten bigger crow’s feet from constantly smiling right along with him. The only time he isn’t grinning is the first moments he wakes up and only wants a BaBa. But once he has it, he bites that BaBa in his teeth and lets it hang between a huge grin.
I am obsessed with him!
And so is everyone else.
NayNay, Nonnie, Bella, Scout, Navy, Micah, and the list goes on and on.
As of now, there are fights over who gets to hold him or put him to bed.
Now are there tantrums?
Yes.
And they are occurring more often.
But the second he gets a grimace on his face, I laugh, and he turns his frown upside down, and is laughing in .1 seconds.
Please let this be his demeanor and not just a perfect phase.
I have always had the fear of the “third child”, but this boy has done everything to prove me wrong!
Not much is cuter than when you ask Dash a question and he nods his head up and down and says “Um”.
It happens all day long.
“Dash, do you want some eerio (cereal)?”
“Um”.
“Dash, do you have the poo poos?”
“Um”.
Dash, do you like the word um?”
“Um”.
How y-e-s turned into u-m, I’m not sure.
But just yesterday, I heard Scout say to him, “Dash, do you want me to get you out of your highchair, um or no?”
So clearly, “um” has taken hold.
Scout and Navy put on a little show for me today.
It featured the “singing pirates”.
And their star dancer.
The day after Seth’s family left, Shem’s family came.
My kids were in heaven!
Literal heaven!
I don’t know where my camera was the whole time they were here, but luckily I snapped some pics on their last day.
These kids were OBSESSED with the pool!
One day they jumped in at 8:30 am, and didn’t get out until 9:30 pm!
CRAZY!
But you know my kids were on board.
Especially this kid who never stopped saying “poo poo” (pool) all week.
Here is the gang as they were leaving, and the comments I got from my kids were these:
Navy said, “I wish they could stay a little longer!”
Scout said, “Why can’t they stay for at least six more days?”
Navy said, “I love when my cousins are here, and don’t like when they leave.”
Scout said, “Which cousins do we get to see next?”
And I finally said, “I’m tired. Quiet time for everyone!”
I don’t know how Navy does it, but she can get filthier than anyone I know in the shortest amount of time.
Every cousin here was out playing chalk.
Some had chalky hands, others had chalky feet, but Navy had chalky everything.
In fact, even she recognized how dirty her clothes were getting, and stripped down to a cleaner layer.
Her typical outside in the front yard layer — undies.
Luckily I caught her upon arrival back into the house, and stopped her, snapped her pic, and carried her to the bath.
But amazingly enough, baths get her back to her original state so quickly, it isn’t worth being mad over the dirty state.
I was across the room from Scout when he got on a computer game his cousin showed him. He asked me, “Mom, what does p-l-a-y-e-r spell?” I made him sound it out, and he then said “player’s name”. When I turned the corner to see what sort of game he was trying to get on, I saw the “Player’s Name” box.
And in the space provided, Scout had typed in “Poo”.
Classy.
Here is a picture of a little brother who is obsessed with his big brother “Dout”.
And he should be.
“Dout” is one heck of a big brother!
Back in April, I went to a really early ultrasound. I asked Theiny what I was having, and he said, “Either it is definitely a boy, or that is the umbilical cord.” But we agreed that it was more than likely my third boy. Sadly to say, I was a little bummed, but still wanted to tell everyone in a fun way. So I lifted Dash’s shirt, and drove to where Micah was and had Dash show him his “fat fat tummy”.
This is what it looked like:
Micah was excited, and Scout was thrilled, but Navy said, “I thought I was going to have a little sister!”
I told her I did too, but that another boy would be great!
Micah’s first reaction was, “Babe, I’m sorry. I know you wanted a girl, but this is awesome!”
I agreed, and the rest is history.

Until….I had my 20 week ultrasound at a high tech place because of my age being past 35. The guy wanted to know if I wanted to know the sex and I told him I already did. I told him it was a boy and that I had really wanted a girl but that I was wrapping my mind around it. His ultrasound was ridiculously thorough and it was about 15 minutes before he got to the “area”. When there, he said, “Now you said it was a boy, right?” I agreed, and he went on. Then he said, “But you wanted a girl?” I told him that I did. And he gave me the best six-worded surprise I’ve ever had!
“Well, you’ve got yourself a GIRL!”
I had a little guilt over being so excited, but that has passed, and I could not be happier!
Now don’t get me wrong….I LOVE boys!
But my sisters are too big a part of my life, to not have a sister for Navy.
So when I finally found out that Navy would have a sister, I was thrilled!
And so was Micah.
And Navy.
And possibly Dash.
But Scout was bummed.
He was hoping for his own little football team.
But what he forgets is… of all my kids, Navy may be the toughest linebacker there is.
Our fourth was really fun!
It started off with the pool, surfing for the boys, cooking and a BBQ.
Not bad.
Later in the afternoon, we had a casual soccer game for some of the athletes.
But of course Micah showed up in a full outfit.
Everyone was cracking up.
Scout clearly liked his dad’s idea, and went to get his garb on.
And not to be outdone, look who showed up in his own costume about 10 minutes later?!
Irish Elmo.
Here the casual group are on their way.
My mom couldn’t believe that Micah had such “fancy footwear”!
I think she meant “footwork”.
Father and son both had good games!
The best game of the day was when Landon, Clay and Cade called out the “old guys” to a game of three on three.
The old guys (Bry, Micah and Shem) played their guts out, and claimed the win in the end, but it wasn’t an easy defeat.
Elmo ended up coming in character, and was our mascot of the day.
But ended up having the most fun with B.
Even if he was a little dizzy!

Then it was off to some homemade cinnamon rolls, courtesy of Nonnie.
And finally the big fireworks show, followed by a Micah Streetside Firework Show.
He just dug into his stash, and let the kids go to town.
Happy Fourth America!
