Scout’s Fun Run was a blast for him.
Of course he donned his dad’s sweatband.
His stretch before the race was comical. He really got into it.
Navy followed the school mascot in the stretch.
I was SO impressed. I told Scout the trick to the Fun Run is just to never stop. And he did a good job — he got down to a slow jog, but never really stopped to walk.
Navy took Dash on a lap.
But when he stopped half way through, Navy took matters into her own hands.
Here is our runner with tally marks for each lap.
And look at that little tongue sticking through his new hole from his lost tooth just a few hours before.
My mom always told me that when her babies lost their first teeth, it was a hard milestone. I had the good fortune of Scout being part shark (with a second row of teeth), so I was well-warned that his teeth were on their way out. But I didn’t have the good fortune of being there when it happened. Because Daddio just did it after breakfast.
WHAT?
I didn’t have the video rolling, nor was there a camera in sight.
But the grin on Scout’s face made up for the lack of coverage.
Look at these two celebrating what I will never see — Scout’s first lost tooth.
Look at that mini little tooth.
And those shark teeth behind his hole covered by a spit bubble.
Congrats my boy.
You’re a big boy now!
This little brother loves — L.O.V.E.S — his big sis.
Even if she has a problem of bossing him around and taking every toy straight from his hands.
I guess her constant nurturing and taking care of him trumps all.
I don’t post much about my cooking, but I thought I would put this one on the blog.
This recipe is straight from my days at the Laguna Beach Culinary Institute.
And it is one of Micah’s favorites.
Just a little seared Ahi over a citrus salad, with sauteed snow peas on the side.
You are welcome Micah.
Every single time I pick this boy up from school, he begs to play for just a little longer with his friends on the playground.
I’d say about 99% of the time, I give in.
Scout, Navy and Micah took this year’s leprechaun trap VERY seriously!
See for yourself:
A loaded bow and arrow topped the trap full of swords and guns.
They had a few treasures they hoped would lure the little guys, and even put a picture of one on top.
The next morning, we found havoc all over the house.
Clearly, the leprechauns weren’t fooled. And loved using the arrows to spell out “Ha Ha”.
In fact, they did a little fooling themselves.
And lucky for Scout and Navy, the little destroyer left some of his loot — including chocolate gold and Lucky Charms!
Our Family Bed got raided this night by a few twin boys from up the road. I’ll admit that they thought the movie in bed was pretty fun. But I wasn’t dying over how riled up my kids were by the end of the movie. I think “Family Bed” should stick to blood relation!
But if I’m being totally honest, this little blood relative was the naughtiest of all.
He got Scout’s magician’s hat, and was beyond wild at about 11 pm.. I thought he would be sleeping with us this night.
But crazy pants ended up in his own bed soon after our little photo shoot.
Scout got invited to a shooting birthday party.
He got all geared up in safety paraphernalia, and was ready to go.
He took it all very seriously.
And loved it!
All while poor little stir-crazy Dash was aching to get home and nap.
It was a fun party for Scout, and a long two hours for mom.
Every once in a while, I take my kids to the mall — one of the few places that both my kids and I like equally.
I get to have a yummy lunch and shop around while my kids stop at their favorite places.
They love the jump pad.
The money swirl can provide a whole lot of entertainment for only a few cents.
And of course there is the slam dunk — the playground.
Mrs. Hands on loves showing Dash the ropes.
But to be honest, he likes being shown for about a minute or two.
And then it is time for him to shrug her off with a few grunts and swats her way.
Navy had her preschool performance where she showcased the Irish Jig. I’ll admit, I think her singing is better than her dancing. But it was still pretty cute.
But not nearly as cute as these two little Irish people.
She was a little timid at first, but by the end was hopping all around like a little leprechaun.
Here’s her class with the ultimate jigger of all — Miss Dianne.
After the jigging, they got to go leprechaun hunting. Unfortunately, they didn’t find one. But they must have scared one away, because there was a huge pot of gold waiting for them in the bushes.
Navy was getting a load of her loot when I snapped this pic.
