I have a major phobia of sleeping with my head covered — because I like fresh air and to be cool while I sleep. So when I walked in to see Dashy’s face completely covered by his warmest blanket, I cringed. But we were off to run some errands, so I had to wake him up anyway. And I was sure he would be thankful that I saved him from his encasing blanket.
Apparently, I was wrong.
(Look at that sweaty head — it just gives me the heebie jeebies!)
Summer, Navy, Scout and Scotty swam for hours together.
And just before they all got out — they showed off their fine-tuned booty dances.
I’m wondering who taught whom???
We had quite the crew over for FHE.
It started out with about 4 hours of swimming and cannon ball launching.
While the adults cooked, ate and talked.
At the end, we had a family night lesson about each of our gifts from Heavenly Father — and had a talent show.
Scout chose his talent to be running, and Icka sang for the group.
They were both to die for.
They had a really full night, that put them to bed around 10pm.
That’s how our summer has gone — lots of exhausting activities, and really late nights.
But the next morning, two of my kids finally made up for lost time.
While Scout got up around 8:30, Dash didn’t get up until 10:00, and Icka who woke up at 8:30, immediately went into Bella and cuddled right back to sleep until 11:15!
(I wouldn’t let Bella go back into where she was sleeping the whole time, and she was getting so annoyed at me!)
Apparently my kids were very sleep deprived.
So that night….what did we do?
Right when my kids were about to go to bed at 7:30, Scout came to me with a pen and paper to write what he said.
I put a little of my own wording in it, and Navy requested the “4 hearts”.
And I was all for the plan, because I was sick all day, and was down for the count.
At first Micah was a little resistant, but finally the big softie gave in.
So he loaded all three up, and took the kids to his parent’s pool and tried to teach them to water ski.
He ran with the rope, while the kids were in the pool with their skis on.
It was another late night — 10:15, but can you imagine more fun?
My kids came home and told me every detail of the night.
Hopefully, it’s another morning of sleeping in kids.
Dash has become a major screamer. I am pretty positive it is linked to him trying to tell me things. You know — he wants a drink, or to go outside. Others may be annoyed, and even point out that it is a bad habit. But I love it. I love his spunk, and will reprimand him at a later date. And for crying out loud — he was screaming up a storm as I fed him Cream of Wheat last night. At first he took a few bites. Then as I tried to feed him, he pinched his lips together and shook his head “NO!” I still got my spoon in his mouth and basically force fed him the nasty stuff. (I call it nasty, Micah calls it delicious.) And then he started screaming at me. Well — no duh! He didn’t like it. He should be allowed to scream!
And in the end….who can ever get annoyed at a screaming baby who smiles?
Dash, you can scream all you like. But if you could tone it down in restaurants….that would be perfect.
We met up with the Tacky Lackys for a fun afternoon.
But “Steel The Cheese” didn’t go too well, and Icka took a spill into the corner of a chair when she ran away from the “cat”.
(Black eye and now a bashed cheek! Poor thing.)
(I love this sad face she makes quite often. It looks like she is smelling something bad!)
So we broke out the bendaroos and art table.
And let their creative juices flow.
I love three clean babies doing what they all do best.
Scout is goofing off.
Navy is kissing.
And Dash is sucking.
And they are all doing their thing — while smelling like a million.
Lately, I have been making Dash milkshakes in the morning for breakfast.
He is obsessed, and can’t get it in to his tummy fast enough.
And no wonder — listen to this deliciousness:
Half a banana
Half a peach
6 oz water
2 scoops formula
1 scoop rice cereal
It’s kind of like a baby suicide — and he loves it until the very last drop.
These two have had a full summer. We have had super late nights, early mornings and action-packed days. They don’t stop much. So when they finally hit their pillows at night — they are OUT.
Thank goodness.
Because I have had those same late nights, early mornings and filled days!
As soon as Dash sees me in the morning, he can not smile hard enough.
I love to be loved so much.
This happy boy melts me.
And this has to be one of my favorite pictures of all time.
Although this girl could go professional with her make up skills, she knows she isn’t supposed to put any on without permission.
So look at her clever little hiding spot.
Apparently she isn’t going professional with her hiding spots anytime soon.
